Trader Joe’s fans are in for a surprise because the grocer is about to drop a new range of tote bags as part of a mystery pack.
Beginning in early November, the grocery store, known for its viral merchandise, is launching a range of secret limited-edition designs.
This year’s variety includes two new, never-before-seen bags, according to USA Today. Each mystery bundle comes in a brown paper bag, containing three six-gallon reusable bags with the limited-edition designs for $2.99.
Part of the fun is that customers don’t know which bags they’ve bought until they open the paper packaging.
The exclusive bag designs will not be available individually. Some of the designs will celebrate Trader Joe’s stores in different locations, so they will only be available in specific regions.

Last year, bundles sold out quickly, and people would record themselves unboxing their mystery bags on social media.
The best place to find them is in stores, since Trader Joe’s does not have an online store, though people often resell the grocer’s merchandise online for an increased price.
Trader Joe’s is known for its viral canvas tote bags that have become an international fashion accessory.
In June, tote bag connoisseurs queued for hours this summer to get their hands on the store’s drop of its mini striped tote bags, which came in a range of pastel colors.
The bags first developed a cult-like following when they went viral in March 2024, becoming so popular on social media that procuring one has become increasingly difficult.
The classic bag, a white design with navy blue straps, has been expanded into an ever-evolving lineup of collectible bags.
Daniel Levine, a consumer and trends expert based in Oregon, previously told The Independent that Trader Joe’s symbolism across the world spoke to a type of “imported exclusivity” that signifies that you are clued up on international internet culture.
“It’s become the ultimate ‘if you know, you know accessory,’” he said.
Trader Joe’s, which has more than 600 stores across 43 states, was founded in Monrovia, California, in 1967 by the late Joe Coulombe.
The first branch in Pasadena was given a nautical theme with marine objects, including fish netting, a ship’s bell and a rowboat, inspired by Coulombe’s travels in the Caribbean.
Earlier this year, the American Customer Satisfaction Index named Trader Joe’s America’s favorite grocery store, earning a customer satisfaction score of 86 points to edge out rival supermarket chains Publix and Costco.
