Toyota Officially Turns Up The Heat At SEMA With Slammed Sport Wagon

Another Wagon Concept We Want To See Realized

We added a section to discuss a potential production model of the Genesis G90 Wingback concept.

The Toyota Crown Signia occupies an odd place in the brand’s SUV lineup. In terms of features and specs, it offers amenities that rival entry-level Lexus vehicles. However, there’s a five-passenger cabin, making the model smaller than other Toyota offerings like the Grand Highlander and Sequoia.

Toyota is dreaming up a sporty take on the Crown Signia for this year’s SEMA Show by introducing the GT-S concept.

The Toyota Crown Signia GT-S Concept For The 2026 SEMA Show

The Toyota Crown Signia GT-S Concept turns the SUV into a rig that would be more nimble for hauling the family on curvy back roads. To improve the handling, the vehicle gets a custom set of MCS coilovers that lower the ride height by nearly 5.0 inches over the stock stance. There are also a set of larger brakes that come from the Lexus RX 500h F Sport.

The concept rides on 21-inch HRE wheels with a bronze center section, Y-shaped spokes, and a polished metallic rim. The 295-millimeter-wide tires provide roughly 20% more contact patch than the existing model.

Part of the concept’s recipe is making the vehicle look more aggressive with a body kit that includes vents in the front fenders, a rear diffuser, and trapezoidal exhaust outlets. The dark gray body color is a custom mix with added metallic flakes and extra clear coat. There are also dark red accents on the tip of the hood, badges, and mirrors.

Toyota largely leaves the interior alone. The gearshift gets a red accent with GTS in bold white. The bolstered front seats have red trim and a GT-S badge on the headrest.

The powertrain has no changes, but there’s a new GT-S engine cover under the hood.

What Makes The Crown Signia Special?

The 2027 Crown Signia is available in two trim levels: XLE and Limited. Both of them come with a hybrid-assisted 2.5-liter four-cylinder with front and rear electric motors offering a total of 238 horsepower. The only available gearbox is an electronically controlled CVT. The setup can get the SUV to 60 miles per hour in 7.1 seconds and offers 38 miles per gallon combined fuel economy.

The 2027 Crown Signia XLE starts at $44,890 (plus a $1,595 destination fee), and the Limited takes the price to $51,155. Both grades include a cabin with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Opting for the Limited grade adds features including rain-sensing windshield wipers, 21-inch wheels, a fixed panoramic glass roof, and a digital rearview mirror. A more-advanced driver safety tech suite has front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, traffic jam assist, front cross-traffic alert, panoramic view monitor with 360-degree overhead view, and lane change assist.

There are still a handful of wagons on the market that you can buy today, like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon and the Audi RS6 Avant, but there aren’t any full-size models. Every wagon available is based on a midsize platform — there’s no Mercedes-Benz S-Class wagon, nor is there an Audi A8 wagon variant. However, Genesis went a step further than any other rival by building the G90 Wingback concept.

It wouldn’t take too much effort for Genesis to actually offer this model for sale, since the hard work is already done. The brand is already making the G90 sedan platform with its impressively smooth and powerful engine, and the concept already looks production ready. The only question left is how many people will actually buy it? Sure, Genesis could build a production model, but the G90 Wingback might not be as profitable as its other models in its lineup.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters

The Toyota Crown Signia GT-S Concept is a good idea, and a vehicle like this would be a clever addition to the lineup. The existing model puts a focus on luxury and tech, rather than being sporty. Offering a GT-S, even as a special edition, could attract a new group of buyers to the machine.

In its announcement, Toyota calls the Signia GT-S Concept a “special project prototype vehicle.” The company has not made any statements about building such a machine. That said, the modifications amount to a body kit, a set of coilovers, bigger brakes, and different wheels. None of the parts would be too difficult to implement on the vehicle if there is a good response to this show car.
