I’ve spent the past few months testing all types of DNS. I’ve tested Quad9 against Cloudflare, Cloudflare WARP against my default ISP DNS, encrypted DNS against regular DNS from a coffee shop, and much more. Throughout all of that time, one acronym kept popping up that I’d never encountered: DoQ. DNS over QUIC is a new Domain Name System protocol that will be a game changer for online security and privacy — but almost no one has started using it so far. You’ve probably met a family built through double donation, but would you know? More of these families exist now than at any point in history. We don’t even know how many double-donor families there are. But we do know this: in the UK, one of the few countries that keeps track, double-donor cycles have increased dramatically since 1991 (Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority [HFEA], 2021). The US doesn’t track these families at all (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2024). And in lots of countries, creating embryos this way is not even legal (International Federation of Fertility Societies [IFFS], 2021). Just over a week after its official debut, Hyundai showcased the IONIQ 3 standard version for the first time. A new type of EV hot hatch Hyundai officially unveiled the IONIQ 3 at Milan Design Week last Monday, a smaller, more affordable sibling to the IONIQ 5. It’s the first compact EV under Hyundai’s IONIQ lineup. Although it bears some resemblance to the IONIQ 5 and 6 with Hyundai’s signature design elements like pixel lighting, the IONIQ 3 stands apart with a unique “Aero Hatch” design. Hyundai calls it “a new typology that reimagines the compact EV silhouette” with a low-slung, sporty overall look. The IONIQ 3 also features four dots up front that represent “H” in Morse Code. Kia launched the upgraded Niro in Korea on Tuesday, now exclusively as a hybrid. The Niro EV is being discontinued as Kia focuses on its new dedicated electric vehicles like the EV3, EV4, and EV5. The Kia Niro EV is dead, but the hybrid lives on Another one bites the dust. After opening pre-orders for the new Niro in Korea on March 10, Kia said the upgraded SUV features “best-in-class combined fuel efficiency,” a refined design inside and out, and the latest safety and convenience features, but something was missing. The upgraded Kia Niro is exclusively available with a 1.6 hybrid powertrain. It will no longer be sold with a fully electric variant. Kia’s president and CEO, Jung Won-Jung, confirmed during a media event (via The Korea Herald) that the Niro EV is being discontinued, saying, “The Niro was Kia’s first step toward an electrified future.” “When the Niro first appeared, eco-friendly cars still felt unfamiliar and somewhat distant to many people,” he said.
