Tottenham boss Thomas Frank sacked | UK News

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has been sacked after just eight months in charge. The Dane left after Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle. Tottenham sit 16th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone. Frank, who was appointed last summer after consistently over-performing as Brentford boss, has the worst Premier League home win percentage of any Spurs manager since 2008. He won just 13 of his 38 games in charge. Datawrapper This content is provided by Datawrapper, which may be using cookies and other technologies. Dylan Thomas was ‘serial plagiarist’ as a schoolboy, publisher claims

A young Dylan Thomas was a serial plagiarist who frequently wrote “audacious rip-offs” of others’ work, a lifelong admirer of the Welsh poet has claimed. Publisher and Italian translator Alessandro Gallenzi says he has identified at least a dozen examples of plagiarised poems, arguing that the scale of the alleged theft is greater than previously understood. Thomas, whose masterpieces include 1953’s “Under Milk Wood” and 1951’s “Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night”, is known to have plagiarised other works for one or two of his early poems. However, Gallenzi argues in an essay for the Times Literary Supplement (TLS) that 10 poems published under Thomas’s name in his school magazine, along with two poems published in the Swansea newspaper The Herald of Wales, were rip-offs of work by other writers. Thomas began attending Swansea Grammar School in 1925, where his father taught English and oversaw the institution’s magazine, shortly before his 11th birthday. He is widely regarded as having shown a precocious talent from an unusually young age, despite being unruly and an …

Smiling Faceless Woman by Thomas J Gebhardt III

Smiling Faceless Woman by Thomas J Gebhardt III

There exists a particular kind of terror that comes not from what lurks in the darkness, but from the moment you realize the darkness has been watching you all along. Thomas J. Gebhardt III understands this intimacy of fear, weaving it seamlessly into his third novel, Smiling Faceless Woman, a work that refuses to be categorized neatly into any single genre. This is not simply a ghost story, nor is it merely a coming-of-age tale about a college senior on the precipice of adulthood. Instead, Gebhardt has crafted something far more ambitious: a textured exploration of what happens when the mundane collides with the otherworldly, when academic ambition meets supernatural reality, and when the careful architecture of a planned life crumbles under the weight of forces unseen. The novel opens with Alex, an overachieving college senior whose meticulously constructed world begins to fracture when strange occurrences plague his dorm room at night. What he initially dismisses as sleep paralysis becomes something far more sinister, setting in motion a series of events that will fundamentally alter …
