Lawsuit Says Scott Kahn Ditched Phillips Asia Show for David Zwirner

Lawsuit Says Scott Kahn Ditched Phillips Asia Show for David Zwirner

Dealer and curator Eric Ian Hornak-Spoutz has filed suit against painter Scott Kahn, who is accused of breaching his contractual obligations to Hornak-Spoutz by abruptly terminating an exhibition at the Phillips in Hong Kong in order to join David Zwirner’s roster. At the center of the suit, which was filed on Monday in New York State Supreme Court in Westchester County, is the exhibition, which Hornak-Spoutz says was born out of an hours-long Zoom call in November 2022. Also on that call were Jonathan Crockett, chairman of Phillips Asia, and Kahn himself, according to the suit. The exhibition, which was meant to take place between October 26, 2023, and November 5, 2023, was to contain around 50 to 60 paintings.  Related Articles While Hornak-Spoutz and Kahn never signed an official contract, the two had been working together, the lawsuit says, since Kahn consigned 20 works to Hornak-Spoutz. Hornak-Spoutz then sold them at Gallery 928, his space in Marina Village in Florida. The gallery closed in 2014, the same year it tried to sell paintings it …

Very attractive and very unattractive men show the highest hostility towards women

Very attractive and very unattractive men show the highest hostility towards women

A recent study of men in the U.K. found that those who perceive themselves as either the most attractive or the least attractive tend to show higher levels of hostility towards women compared to men with an average view of their attractiveness. Additionally, men with strong right-wing authoritarian beliefs were also more likely to be hostile towards women. The research was published in the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology. Misogyny refers to hatred, disdain, or prejudice against women. It manifests through discriminatory attitudes, behaviors, and societal norms that devalue or oppress women. Misogyny can range from subtle actions, like exclusion or belittling, to overt behaviors, such as aggression, verbal abuse, physical and sexual violence, and rape. A related concept is sexism, which involves the belief that one gender is superior to the other, resulting in unequal treatment based on gender. Both misogyny and sexism perpetuate gender-based inequality, reinforcing harmful stereotypes and limiting opportunities for individuals, particularly women. These attitudes not only harm women but also contribute to rigid gender roles that affect men as well. Study …

The Taskmaster Task That Failed To Make It Into The Show… Twice

The Taskmaster Task That Failed To Make It Into The Show… Twice

If you’re one of the millions of people that tunes into Taskmaster every week, you’ll likely be a huge fan of the somewhat irreverent games that the comedians are faced with. Whether it’s choreographing a dance with Alex Horne or competing to see who can slide for the longest, the group of comics that appear in each season of the show are truly put through the wringer for our viewing pleasure. But what about the proposed tasks that didn’t make it onto the show? What have we been missing out on? Apparently, there are quite a few per season, as Ed Gamble revealed in a Reddit Ask Me Anything that there had been around 10 unaired tasks that didn’t make the eventual cut. However, there’s one task that has actually failed to make into the show once in season one, and again two years later… In the official book, Taskmaster : 220 Extraordinary Tasks for Ordinary People, host and creator Alex Horne revealed that there was a bubble wrap task he’d tried to implement twice. …

Tesla Won’t Have Much to Show at “Light on Details” Robotaxi Event, Investor Warns

A robotaxi could still be many years out. Short on Details We’re one week away from Tesla’s long-awaited “robotaxi” event — and investors are already attempting to manage expectations. Tesla CEO Elon Musk promised to unveil an autonomous vehicle at the event, which was initially slated for August. But whether the beleaguered EV maker will have anything to show beyond some flashy renderings remains unclear at best. During a recent appearance on CNBC, Deepwater Management partner Gene Munster warned that the event will be “light on details,” despite unveiling not just one but three vehicles: a “Robovan,” a “robotaxi,” and an ultra-cheap $25,000 EV. The development of an affordable passenger vehicle has long been a point of contention, with investors worried that Tesla’s focus on a robotaxi could end up delaying its development. Meanwhile, the company’s so-called “Full Self-Driving” driver assistance software has also met several stumbling blocks, with regulators investigating hundreds of collisions and dozens of deaths related to the company’s overarching Autopilot system. Launch Party According to Munster, the Robovan will be “some …
