A powerful earthquake has hit Australia, with shockwaves being reportedly felt several kilometres away from the epicentre. The 4.1-magnitude tremor struck at around 4pm local time (7.30am BST) on Wednesday, in an area north-east of Jamestown, in the South Australia state.  The tremor hit at a depth of one kilometre, according to Geoscience Australia, the government’s website dedicated to geoscience matters. One local reportedly said the earthquake was felt “far and wide” – reportedly as far as Adelaide, located some 200km away from the epicentre. One local wrote on social media: “Sounded like a train going down Sixth Street, no wonder my poor old house is cracking up!”  There were no immediate reports of casualties.  For all the latest updates, follow the live blog below. Jaws dropped in Downing Street this afternoon as former US president Barack Obama turned up for a surprise meeting with Rishi Sunak.
