Furry Airline Pilots Are Just Minding Their Own Business

Furry Airline Pilots Are Just Minding Their Own Business

The greatest threat to humanity’s survival isn’t climate change, nor is it AI. It’s airline pilots who like dressing up as hot cartoon foxes. That seemed to be the takeaway from a bizarre speech made last week by Alabama Republican Tommy Tuberville on the Senate floor last week. During a lengthy anti-trans rant about “gender confusion,” Tuberville started pontificating on the furry fandom, a subculture consisting of people who enjoy drawing and dressing as anthropomorphized animals. “Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community,” Tuberville alleged. “Lord help us. It’s terrifying when you think about this.” To bolster his point, he later posted a viral audio clip of airline pilots at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport meowing and barking at each other over the radio, though there is no evidence that the pilots in question were furries; the video was possibly a reference to a joke in the 2001 movie Super Troopers. “When you walk onto a commercial flight, it’s possible that the pilot flying your plane could …

The kindness of strangers: Two helicopter pilots flew down low to wave to my three-year-old son – he was beside himself with joy | Australian lifestyle

My sister lives in Ukraine; I live in Australia. We had gone five long years without seeing each other when we finally reunited during a trip to Los Angeles. One day we took my three-year-old son to the beach and spent the afternoon catching up. We had a lot of conversations about people and kindness that day. I told her how I had noticed a softer side to men since having a son. As a woman, you’re often wary of construction workers, for example – what might they say to me when I walk past? But now when I pass a building site with my son, the workers often let him play with their radio, or beep a tractor to make him laugh. It was very heartwarming and gave me a whole new perspective on the other sex. As I shared this observation with my sister, a coastguard helicopter flew overhead. My son adores helicopters and is always fascinated to see one, so we all waved as hard as possible as it flew past. But …

RAF training aircraft crashes in Wales – two pilots injured after ejecting | UK News

Two RAF pilots are being treated for minor injuries after ejecting from a training aircraft that crashed in Wales. The Hawk T2 aircraft had been flying out of the RAF Valley station on Anglesey when it plummeted to the ground in the nearby Pencarnisiog area. “Two pilots are being treated for what are thought to be minor injuries and at this stage there are no reports of any wider damage or injuries,” North Wales Police said. A video of the crash shared on social media appears to show the pilots ejecting from the plane before it nosedives and crashes in flames. Footage shows a plume of smoke and a blaze erupting as the aircraft hits the ground, appearing to narrowly miss residential properties. Image: RAF jet crash in RAF Valley station, North Wales. Emergency helicopter ‘laser attacks’ could cause ‘catastrophic accident’, pilots warn | UK News

There were 35 cases of emergency helicopters being attacked by a laser in the first six months of 2026, new data from the UK’s air regulator shows. Pilots have warned that the laser attacks, which are a criminal offence carrying an unlimited fine and up to five years in prison, could result in a “catastrophic accident”. Shining a high-intensity laser directly at a helicopter can cause temporary blindness to pilots and even long-term eye damage, the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) warned. As most air ambulances operate with only one pilot, this is a significant safety risk, the organisation said as it issued a joint call with the Air Ambulances UK charity for an end to the attacks. The highest number of attacks were recorded in Southampton, followed by Leeds and Glasgow. Image: An example of how blinding lasers can be for helicopter pilots. Scaling agentic AI pilots across the enterprise

Scaling agentic AI pilots across the enterprise

That shift requires organizations to treat agentic AI as a cohesive system. Agents need access to the data, knowledge, and context required to make effective decisions, as well as connections to back-end systems if they are expected to take action. Fragmented information can undermine those capabilities: “The efficacy of these AI agents is purely a function of the context, the knowledge, and the data they can ingest and use,” Chandra says. The organizational implications are equally noteworthy. Scaling agents can create a new form of fragmentation if teams build isolated systems that don’t connect with one another, while governance, privacy, security, and change management become more important as agents take on more consequential work. Chandra argues that AI agents should ultimately be held to the same standards as human workers, with organizations thinking of their workforce as a combination of humans and AI agents. Looking ahead, that connected approach could enable agents to work proactively and even communicate with other agents to resolve customer needs. For organizations making the transition from pilots to scale, the …

Flight attendants and pilots have the highest risk of dying from certain cancers, study finds

Cosmic radiation originates from outer space. Only a fraction of these high-energy particles reaches the Earth’s surface, but human exposure increases substantially for individuals who fly frequently at high altitudes. In the past, only limited evidence from small-scale studies suggested that atmospheric radiation exposure might lead to elevated cancer mortality rates among frequent flyers, particularly commercial pilots and cabin crew. The new research “brings important new evidence to bear on this question,” wrote two independent Australian radiation specialists who were not involved in the study in an accompanying commentary. Qatar Denies Holding Iranian Pilots As Tehran Demands Answers Over Missing Airmen

Via The Cradle Qatar has denied that it is holding three Iranian pilots who Iran says were captured alive after their fighter jets crashed during the US-Israeli war on the Islamic Republic. On Saturday, Mohammad Bagherzadeh, head of the Missing Persons Search Committee of Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff, stated that “Three Iranian pilots were captured alive by Qatari forces after the Su-24 fighter jets crashed during the March attacks.” He identified the captured pilots as Javad Salehi, Abdolmajid Dashtian, and Omran Behraveshian. via Associated Press Iran is urging the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to investigate the condition of the pilots. In a statement to the ICRC, Bagherzadeh said that the pilots “have been held by Qatari forces for six months” and have not been allowed to contact their families. Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari denied the claims, saying Qatar is not holding any Iranian pilots. “We categorically deny the claims circulating regarding the detention of Iranian pilots,” Ansari said in a statement posted on X. Iranian officials were making “misleading statements” at a sensitive …

Pete Hegseth’s Reckless Message to Helicopter Pilots

Pete Hegseth’s Reckless Message to Helicopter Pilots

Three times in recent months, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has absolved military aviators caught on camera busting flight regulations. The message to pilots is clear: As long as what you do looks cool and puts on a show for the public, you can break flight rules without consequences. Just Friday, a member of the Blue Angels, the Navy’s flight-demonstration team, buzzed Pensacola Beach at extremely low altitude and a high angle of bank, close to throngs of spectators. Captain Adam Bryan, the Blue Angels’ team leader, conceded on camera that the aviator in the video had put himself and the crowd in an unsafe situation. The aviator admitted that he’d miscalculated a turn. He was apparently taken off the flight schedule. Hegseth, however, posted on X before the facts had come in that “the flyovers will continue until morale improves.” His statement seemingly implied that even if the stunt was intentional, all was forgiven because it looked awesome. Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao said that a “flight debrief” had been conducted and …
