Log in Sharon Osbourne has revealed she’s been left with a permanent indentation in her face following a botched round of plastic surgery. The music manager and television personality, who was married to the rock star Ozzy Osbourne, has been open about the multiple procedures she has undergone to retain a youthful appearance, as well as the surgeries that have gone awry. Speaking on The Osbournes podcast with her son Jack, Sharon said that she was left with a black line along her upper lip and down to her chin from an unnamed operation, which has left her with permanent scarring. “I have an indentation left from it here, all the way down here,” she said, while moving her finger across the lower half of her face. “I think the surgeon left it to his mate to do [it]. I think he took a phone call and then his mate [finished the …

Women left unprotected by new charity powers, NSS says

Women left unprotected by new charity powers, NSS says

The National Secular Society has expressed concern that proposed new powers for the charity regulator will fail to adequately tackle misogyny and homophobia promoted by religious charities. The Government is consulting on extending the powers of the Charity Commission for England and Wales to challenge extremism in charities. The move follows rising concerns about charities promoting extremism and hate – an issue which the NSS has challenged for many years. But while the new powers may help to stop charities promoting hatred towards people based on race or religion or belief, they will not apply to hatred based on other characteristics – including sex and sexual orientation. The NSS has long highlighted how many religious charities promote hatred and discrimination against women and LGBT people. Last year, the NSS published a report investigating religious charities which promote misogyny. “The advancement of religion” is one of the recognised charitable purposes in law. The NSS argues this should be removed from the list of charitable purposes, because it assumes promoting religion is inherently beneficial and can enable …

After many, many years of user requests, Goodreads now allows half-star and quarter-star ratings. How’s everyone feeling about it? I sifted through thousands of comments on Instagram and Reddit, and here are the top sentiments being shared: ⭐ Hooray!: There are a lot of party popper emojis in the Goodreads Instagram comments, but it’s not all celebrations… 🌟 “Alexa, play ‘Too Little, Too Late’”: The most-liked comment is, “girl it’s been 89 years,” and the third is, “Truly bananas it took you this long to listen to your users.” ⭐ Keep going…: Users are still begging for basic functionality upgrades for the apps and the desktop version, including dark mode and the ability to easily switch between editions (like audiobook vs. print). 🌟 Have you tried the StoryGraph?: Readers are quick to point to reading trackers that have had this functionality for ages, including the StoryGraph, which has the added bonus of not being owned by Amazon. ⭐ Now I have homework: Some readers jumped to update their entire back catalog of ratings to reflect …

The Note My Husband Left On The Counter Mad Realize Our Marriage Was Over

The Note My Husband Left On The Counter Mad Realize Our Marriage Was Over

I was on Facebook minding my own business when my ex’s new wife popped up as a friend suggestion. Her name showed as an alias or nickname, but the profile picture was unmistakably her. Of course I looked. Her profile was private except for the photo and a few details that slipped through. I silently compared her scarf and classic style to my provocative fashion, her relative youth to my 40-something forehead, her black hair to my aging blonde. Then I remembered when my ex began dating her and mockingly told me that my light blonde hair looked terrible, and I felt mad for a million reasons that had nothing to do with her. It’s an odd experience to spend what feels like half a lifetime with someone, only to feel like you’ve passed a baton to their next relationship. In her social media image, she stood alone, smiling, seemingly at a travel destination he took her to. That figurative baton gave her the life and husband she now loves, but seeing it in action …

Who left Strictly 2026? Second celebrity to be voted out revealed

Melanie Walters and her professional partner have become the second couple to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2026, going out in a dance-off during Sunday night’s results show. The Gavin and Stacey actor found herself in the bottom two alongside Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr after the public vote, meaning both couples returned to the floor for the dreaded dance-off in a bid to stay in the competition. Wright-Phillips and Warr reprised their Quickstep to I’m a Believer by The Monkees, before Walters and Škorjanec performed their Charleston to Ooh Ahh… Just A Little Bit by Gina G. Once both couples had danced, the judges delivered their verdicts. Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Shaun and Alexis, while Motsi Mabuse opted to save Melanie and Aljaž. Head judge Shirley Ballas proceeded to side with Shaun and Alexis. That left the deciding vote with Anton Du Beke, who also chose to save Wright-Phillips and Warr, confirming that Walters and Škorjanec would be the ones leaving the competition. TV never left “The Twilight Zone”

TV never left “The Twilight Zone”

“Serling” author Alan Sepinwall didn’t know it, but he was about to enter another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind and, in his telling, unexpected connections. The scene was Los Angeles, where the veteran TV critic (and, full disclosure, a friend of mine) was set to moderate a 20th anniversary panel for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” While making small talk with series star and creator Rob Mac in the event’s green room, Sepinwall casually mentioned he was writing about Rod Serling, creator of “The Twilight Zone.” Suddenly Mac’s face lit up. “Alan,” he said, “You have to talk to me for this book. Rod Serling is my guy. Rod Serling is a huge influence on me.” “And thinking in my head, OK. Sure,” Sepinwall recalled. “I was deeply skeptical, but figured, all right, I will indulge him because I like Rob. We’ll see what happens.” Once they got around to talking, Sepinwall’s doubts dissolved. Instead, he ended up seeing Mac’s shows in a whole new light. “There really …

What will Trump do after the midterms, with nothing left to lose?

What will Trump do after the midterms, with nothing left to lose?

On Wednesday in the Oval Office, Donald Trump made clear that he’s not happy with how his political rivals have treated him and stoutly reserved his right for revenge. “They impeached me twice. I certainly — even to this moment I can do whatever I want, if I want.” Trump said, before claiming that only his respect for the office of the president keeps his behavior in check.   If this were a sitcom— and it feels like a bad one — we would now hear a laugh track followed by groans. Clearly Trump has never understood the foundational concepts of American politics. Political ethics, the art of “half a loaf,” the truism that “all politics are local” and the principles of public service over private enrichment are lost on him. Those are just sayings on trophies Trump has minted for himself since he’ll never get the Nobel Peace Prize.  He certainly doesn’t understand compromise or the importance of local issues. Consider his enthusiastic support for data centers, the only issue currently uniting Americans. He’s …

Strictly viewers left frustrated by presenters as bosses fail to shake up format

Want to bookmark your favourite articles and stories to read or reference later? Start your Independent Membership today. Join today Already a member? Log in Strictly Come Dancing fans have expressed their frustration at BBC bosses for their failure to shake up the presenting format in week two. New hosts, Emma Willis and Josh Widdicombe returned to their positions on the dance floor, while Johannes Radebe waited in what was previously known as the “Clauditorium” during ex-host Claudia Winkleman’s tenure, prior to her and Tess Daly’s departure in 2025. Many viewers felt Widdicombe was a “spare part” who would have been better utilised alongside Radebe to interview contestants. “So they ignored the public and kept Josh downstairs doing his work experience, will Jojo talk while they walk up the stairs?” one viewer complained. Other fans added they were “really surprised” producers hadn’t listened to Strictly viewers and allowed Widdicombe to present alongside Radebe. “I really wish they had put JoJo and Josh together upstairs,” one person wrote on X/Twitter. Fans have dubbed Widdicombe a ‘spare …
