The TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus is an Android tablet that comes with a stylus and flip case for only $259, thanks to a 30% deal that’s still lingering after Prime Day into the July 4th weekend. The original price was $370, and it’s worth every penny, so a $110 discount is a solid deal (though the price is a bit higher than the original Prime Day price of $224).  Also: The best July 4th deals: Save on Anker, Garmin, Apple, and more As a tablet, the TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus rivals those at three times its price. This means you can go from using your tablet to stream or play, like you would any other, to using it as an e-reader with a black-and-white or color paper look. iPadOS 27 Hands-On: Everything New for iPad

iPadOS 27 Hands-On: Everything New for iPad

Like iOS 27, iPadOS 27 gains a smarter, more capable version of Siri, the ‌Siri‌ app, and new Apple Intelligence features in apps, but there are a few iPad-only standouts. ‌Siri‌ AI on iPad has all of the same features as ‌Siri‌ AI on the iPhone, so it can access your personal data, search the web for answers, complete tasks in apps, and answer questions about what’s on your screen. For people who write with Apple Pencil on ‌iPad‌, it can index your handwritten notes so you can search through them. You can use ‌Siri‌ to take action on your notes, whether typed or handwritten. ‌Siri‌ can summarize, rewrite, give you writing advice, check grammar, generate new text for you, and more. There’s a systemwide Write with ‌Siri‌ feature for getting help no matter which app you’re using. There’s a new Image Playground app that can generate images in any style, including photorealistic, and that powers the Image Wand in the Notes app. You can draw a quick sketch of something in Notes and then …

The MacRumors Show: What’s Next for the iPad

The MacRumors Show: What’s Next for the iPad

On this week’s episode of The MacRumors Show, we talk through Apple’s upcoming overhaul of the iPad mini and iPad Air, looking at the future of the product lineup as a whole. The headline upgrade for the ‌iPad mini‌ 8 is a switch from LCD to OLED display technology. The device is expected to use a single-stack LTPS panel, which is dimmer than the tandem OLED in the iPad Pro, but a substantial step up from the current display. The screen will also likely grow from 8.3 to 8.7 inches, and ProMotion is a possibility. On the chip, sources disagree. Code Apple accidentally published in August pointed to the A19 Pro, but other evidence suggests the device will use the unreleased A20 Pro chip instead. The N1 and C1X chips are also highly likely to be present. Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is also working on a more water-resistant design, which would make new the ‌iPad mini‌ the first to carry an official IP rating. Apple is said to have developed a vibration-based speaker …

Should You Upgrade to the M4 iPad Air?

Should You Upgrade to the M4 iPad Air?

The M4 iPad Air introduces modest upgrades, including the M4 chip and increased RAM, but stops short of delivering significant advancements. While it remains a reliable option for many users, its lack of innovation in areas such as design, display, and features reflects Apple’s cautious approach to the iPad Air lineup. The video below from Slate Pad provides more insights into the tablet’s strengths and weaknesses, focusing on its design, performance, display, cameras, and overall value. Design: Familiar, But Lacking Freshness The M4 iPad Air retains the same aluminum chassis and color options as its predecessor, offering a lightweight and durable build. Its single-camera design provides a sleeker profile compared to the bulkier Pro models, making it a practical choice for users who prioritize portability. However, the overall aesthetic feels stagnant, with no significant updates to distinguish it from earlier iterations. For users hoping for a refreshed look or new functionality, the Air’s design may feel uninspired. This is particularly noticeable when compared to other devices in Apple’s ecosystem, such as the iPad Pro or …

The M4 ‌iPad Air‌ is equipped with an 8-core CPU featuring three performance cores and five efficiency cores, along with a 9-core GPU. Apple previously used the M4 in the iPad Pro, but the version in the ‌iPad Pro‌ had up to a 10-core CPU and up to a …

I tested Xiaomi’s matte-glass tablet for a month, and it effectively replaced my iPad

I tested Xiaomi’s matte-glass tablet for a month, and it effectively replaced my iPad

Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. At MWC 2026, Xiaomi announced a bunch of new devices, including a follow-up to my favorite Android tablet of 2025. The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro Matte Glass version continues to make nanotexture screens more accessible and adds a more powerful processor and upgraded accessories, among other things for a more complete experience.   Also: Best of MWC 2026: Live updates on phones, concepts, and innovations we’re seeing I’ve been using the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro Matte Glass version as my primary entertainment and productivity device since early February, and this is the first 11-inch tablet that I want to carry with my MacBook Air.  No, I didn’t try to replace my laptop with Xiaomi’s claimed “PC-level productivity” experience – because my use case (our content management system) needs desktop Chrome to function seamlessly. However, I used the new Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro to multitask, research, write stories, browse online, watch Netflix on long-haul flights, and more. After a month of use, here’s why I think the Xiaomi …

New Low-Cost iPad Coming Next Week: What to Expect

New Low-Cost iPad Coming Next Week: What to Expect

One of the new products that we could see next week is a refreshed version of the low-cost iPad. As with the iPad Air, we’re not expecting major changes, but it is expected to get some meaningful internal upgrades. Design The 12th-generation ‌iPad‌ isn’t going to get a design update this year, and we’re expecting it to have the same 11-inch edge-to-edge display with Touch ID Side Button and thick bezels. Apple last updated the ‌iPad‌’s design with the 10th-generation model, giving the device a more modern look to better match the designs of the iPad Pro and iPad Air models. It’s still a relatively new design, and Apple doesn’t update the low-cost ‌iPad‌’s chassis often. The low-cost ‌iPad‌ is only available in a single screen size, and it is Apple’s thickest tablet at 7mm. It features a Retina LCD display with no ProMotion support, no P3 wide color, and no lamination (display technology that cuts down on glare, provides a more responsive feel, and allows for a thinner size) compared to Apple’s other tablets. …

Astropad returns with a 0 iPad drawing stand

Astropad returns with a $120 iPad drawing stand

Last May, Astropad celebrated its two-year anniversary of being Sherlocked with a blog post. “In the first few years of Astropad’s existence,” the startup noted, “we were too dependent on the Apple ecosystem, and we paid the price.” Simply making it to the second anniversary was its own act of defiance. Many companies with similar stories don’t even make it that long. After Sidecar rendered the company’s display-mirroring Luna dongle mostly redundant, Astropad diversified, introducing new modes like teleprompter and the ability to use an old Mac as a second screen. In 2021, the company added Windows mirroring support. Image Credits: Astropad The startup hasn’t moved away from Apple altogether. Late last year, it announced Darkboard, a drawing stand specifically for iPad users. The system is designed to deliver a more Wacom-like experience to Apple’s tablet, offering a 30-degree angled easel experience on top of a table. A vertical experience, meanwhile, gives it a more desktop-style experience when paired with a Bluetooth keyboard. It’s effectively a large surface with an adjustable stand and a cut …
