Apple’s next entry-level iPad models, codenamed J581 and J582, will not arrive until early 2027, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. He added that Apple plans a major iPad Air refresh to add an OLED display and a new iPad Pro in 2027. The latter could gain a vapor chamber to improve thermals and performance. Apple’s iPhone Duo is the first iPhone that can run two apps side by side, but anyone expecting the sort of freedom that Split View offers on iPad might want to temper their expectations. Apple’s iPhone Duo marketing materials talk up app pairs and side-by-side windows, but it doesn’t mention anything about resizing them. There’s a reason for that. If you put two apps side by side on the iPhone Duo’s 7.6-inch foldable display, you can’t drag the divider between them to make one app take up more space than the other. It’s a fixed 50/50 split, regardless. That’s likely to be a disappointment to anyone who’s used Split View on the iPad. Apple just added to its stacked lineup of personal devices with new models of the iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods and its first foldable iPhone, officially called the iPhone Duo.  CNET Senior Tech Reporter Abrar Al-Heeti got one of the first looks. The foldable design resembles a passport that has a 7.6-inch display inside and a 5.4-inch display outside.  Before today, Apple really didn’t have a device that sat between an iPhone and an iPad. However, if you’ve previously submerged your iPad in water, you’ll know that Apple’s tablets, however, are not water-resistant.  That will soon change. Apple’s first water-resistant iPad is currently planned to launch by the end of this year, according to a new report. The water-resistant model is expected to be the new, redesigned iPad mini. According to the report, Apple designed a “vibration-based speaker system,” where sound transmits from the surface of the tablet’s chassis. Apple is allegedly using a 60Hz 8.4-inch display panel in the upcoming OLED iPad mini, which is expected to be released later this year. The information comes courtesy of a hit-and-miss tipster running the account “yeux1122” on the Korean Naver blog. The leaker claims to have been told by a source in Apple’s supply chain that the unreleased iPad mini is equipped with a low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) backplane hybrid OLED panel clocked at 60Hz. Apple’s ‌iPad Pro‌ models feature two-stack low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) OLED panels‌, which makes the display capable of dynamically adjusting its refresh rate between 10Hz and 120Hz (aka ProMotion). In contrast, LTPS OLED panels are usually paired with fixed refresh rates – such as 60Hz, 90Hz, or 120Hz – and are typically dimmer than LTPO panels. If the leak is true, it’s likely to disappoint iPad mini fans.
