Meet Wynn Everett, the Gus Fring of ‘Chad Powers’

You may know Wynn Everett for playing the villainous Whitney Frost on Marvel’s Agent Carter. Well, her Chad Powers character Tricia Yeager may be even more evil than Frost’s alter-ego Madame Masque. Yeager’s closest TV comp comes from a totally different genre: Tricia is the “Gus Fring” (Giancarlo Esposito in Breaking Bad) of Chad Powers, per co-creators Michael Waldron (Loki) and Glen Powell (Hit Man). Though Tricia, a wealthy booster for the fictional South Georgia Catfish, is way funnier (via Everett) than the stoic big bad in Breaking Bad, by the end of the Hulu sitcom’s second season (all six episodes now streaming!), we learn she can be just as devious. Oh, and like Fring, Yeager also uses a chicken farm as a front for her criminal enterprise. Hulu Cancels Not Suitable for Work After One Season

Hulu has decided not to renew the Mindy Kaling-created series Not Suitable for Work for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The comedy series, which premiered in June and ran for nine episodes, starred Ella Hunt (AJ), Avantika Vandanapu (Abby), Will Angus (Davis), Jack Martin (Josh), Nicholas Duvernay (Kel) and Jay Ellis (Bill). It centered on “five work-obsessed 20-somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill,” per the show’s logline. Warner Bros. Television, which produced Not Suitable for Work, plans to shop the show around for a potential new home. When THR chatted with Martin about the show in June, he said he wanted a role in Not Suitable for Work the minute he learned about the show. “I really wanted to be in it, and I just got really lucky,” he said after getting cast as Josh. ‘Deli Boys’ Canceled at Hulu After 2 Seasons

Hulu has canceled its crime dramedy Deli Boys after two seasons. The cancellation comes more than two months after the six-episode second season premiered as a binge release on Hulu. Deli Boys earned positive reviews for both of its seasons, but the audience for season two fell short of what it needed to continue. Hulu doesn’t regularly release data for its shows; Deli Boys has never appeared in Nielsen’s top 10 streaming rankings. Produced by Disney’s Onyx Collective and 20th Television, Deli Boys centers on Mir (Asif Ali) and Raj Dar (Saagar Shaikh), Pakistani-American brothers whose father, to the best of their knowledge, owned a string of convenience stores. After his death, they discover their dad also ran a criminal enterprise and are thrust into running both that and the legitimate business. The series also stars Poorna Jagannathan, Brian George and Alfie Fuller. Parker Posey, Stassi Schroeder Get Hulu Reality Shows

The studio behind The Traitors is bringing another back-stabbing competition to life, with another indie-film favorite as its host. Parker Posey will take on a similar role to Alan Cumming in The Traitors as host of The Mob, a Hulu competition show that will gather a group of reality veterans and other celebrities for a series of “mob movie-inspired jobs.” The show is from The Traitors producer Studio Lambert and STV Studios’ Primal Media. The Mob is one of several new unscripted series and specials Hulu has ordered. Among the others is House of Stassi, starring Vanderpump Rules and Vanderpump Villa alum Stassi Schroeder; The Girls, featuring Khloe Kardashian and several of her close friends; dating show Ring by Spring Break; docuseries Million Dollar Nannies (which will also air on Freeform); and a Sports Illustrated swimsuit runway special. [This story contains spoilers for Pizza Movie.] Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, the creative duo known as BriTANick, are keenly aware that a movie called Pizza Movie is not the most compelling title for their now well-received feature directorial debut. The former SNL writers hemmed and hawed over what to name their “stoner comedy for theater kids” starring Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo, until the internal working title of Untitled Pizza Movie officially became Pizza Movie.  It’s weirdly on-brand for the Atlanta natives and NYU classmates considering they also struggled to name their sketch comedy partnership two decades ago. They settled on the fusion of Brian, Nick and the word Titanic. (If you’re a devout reader of my byline, then you might recognize Nick from one of the 21st century’s most remarkably honest images.) It’s sometimes easy to forget that Hulu first started life as a “TV-first” catch-up service, with movies little more than an afterthought when it launched in 2007. In the intervening years, however, the platform has evolved into something of a prestige movie destination — and a must-have for film fans. Since Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Hulu has become the “adult” sibling to Disney Plus, housing R-rated content and acclaimed indies alongside big-name blockbusters and a huge selection of licensed classics. Now the exclusive streaming home for Searchlight Pictures’ output (A Real Pain, A Complete Unknown), Hulu is also typically the first platform for 20th Century Studios content to land on, allowing the service to carve out a niche as a destination for smart horror, sci-fi and thrillers (the Alien, Predator and Omen franchises are all housed on Hulu, as well as The Hand That Rocks the Cradle remake and Smile). ‘The X-Files’ Casts Himesh Patel to Star in Ryan Coogler’s Reboot

Hulu‘s The X-Files reboot has found its second co-lead. Himesh Patel (The Franchise, Yesterday) has been cast in writer-director Ryan Coogler‘s revival of the classic Fox series. Patel will join the previously announced Danielle Deadwyler as one of two FBI agents tasked with investigating paranormal activity. The Sinners filmmaker will both write and direct the pilot, which has been officially greenlit. Both Patel and Deadwyler are playing new characters — so this is not Fox Mulder and Dana Scully being recast. Original series star Gillian Anderson hinted she might appear in the project, saying she’s read Coogler’s script, telling a reporter, “Have an open mind and give it a chance because it’s going to be fucking cool.” The new show’s official description: “Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.” This logline is slightly different from the premise of Fox’s original, which debuted in 1993 and ran for nine seasons and spawned two movies. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is dead at Hulu. The series star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, took to Instagram Saturday morning to share that Hulu is no longer moving forward with the project, which was revealed to be in the works in February 2025. It came from 20th Television and Searchlight TV. “I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me. Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with Buffy: New Sunnydale,” the actress said in a video. “I want to thank Chloé Zhao, because I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy’s stylish yet affordable boots. And thanks to Chloé, I was reminded how much I love her and how much she means not only to me but to all of you.” Source link

‘R.J. Decker’: When Is Episode 2 Coming to Hulu?

Scott Speedman, who you may know as Dr. Nick Marsh from Grey’s Anatomy or the Underworld films, and who I know from the horror film The Strangers, is the star of R.J. Decker, the new quirky detective series based on the Carl Hiaasen novel Double Whammy. The hour-long drama stars Speedman as, you guessed it, R.J. Decker. Here, Speedman steps into his best disheveled self, playing a defamed newspaper photographer-turned-ex-con who forges a new life in South Florida as a private investigator. Technically, the show is a procedural that follows Decker as he investigates offbeat cases each week. Thanks to the writing, performances and production style, the series stands out from other broadcast primetime fare.  To that point, my first thought when watching the pilot episode was that it felt like a combination of Magnum P.I. [This story contains major spoilers from the fourth episode of season two of Paradise, “A Holy Charge.”] Any savvy viewer could have guessed that Annie would play an important part in the world of Paradise after the Dan Fogelman-created series centered its entire first episode of season two on her introduction. The former medical student, who became a Graceland tour guide after the death of her mother survived the show’s near-apocalypse for years at Elvis Presley’s famous home, only to recently cross paths with another survivor named Link (Thomas Doherty), who she spent one beautiful night with that ended up getting her pregnant. Annie, however, had refused to leave Graceland with Link and his group, and is nearing her due date when Xavier (Sterling K.
