Lady Gaga Pulls Up to Grocery Store in Tesla Cybertruck

Lady Gaga Pulls Up to Grocery Store in Tesla Cybertruck

“This car looks like a garbage truck.” Cyber Gaga International pop sensation Stefani “Lady Gaga” Germanotta was spotted this week popping by the local Whole Foods in a Tesla Cybertruck. It’s unclear if the truck belongs to her or her long-time boyfriend, entrepreneur Michael Polansky. Photos show her getting into the truck from the passenger side, suggesting she wasn’t driving. Users on X-formerly-Twitter were taken aback by the bizarre-looking truck. “This car looks like a garbage truck,” one user replied. “Oh she’s rich RICH,” another user wrote, referring to the truck’s hefty price tag. Tesla Mother The sighting underlines the sheer amount of buzz the divisive truck has gotten. Last month, pop star and producer Pharrell Williams was spotted driving a Cybertruck to a Louis Vuitton store in Miami — but had to abandon it after hilariously failing to parallel park. Tesla’s extremely polarizing truck was met with some seriously mixed reviews when it finally started rolling out to customers late last year, from a less-than-stellar range to a stainless steel exterior that appears to already be …

I Tried the Viral ‘Sleepy Girl Mocktail.’ Here’s Why Tart Cherry Juice is Flying Off Your Grocery Store’s Shelves.

I Tried the Viral ‘Sleepy Girl Mocktail.’ Here’s Why Tart Cherry Juice is Flying Off Your Grocery Store’s Shelves.

By now, you’ve probably heard of the new TikTok health craze, the “Sleepy Girl Mocktail.” This drink recipe has gone viral for its claim to help you fall asleep without the use of sleep aids.  A week before I sat down to write this article, I went to the store in search of the ingredients. Down the juice aisle at my local Publix, I studied each shelf passing by stocked rows of cranberry, apple, beet, tomato, various V8 and prune juice. But when I got to the organic juice shelf, there was an entire section completely empty. The tart cherry juice was gone.  Caroline Igo/CNET This isn’t a one-off experience. This seems to happen whenever there’s a new viral TikTok trend. Whether it’s fashion or an intriguing skin care trend, TikTok drives people in waves to new products. However, not all TikTok trends are safe — take the Nyquil Chicken videos, for example. So, is the “sleepy girl mocktail” even a good idea? I’ve been writing about all things sleep for years now. Here’s a …

California Bill Would Ban All Plastic Shopping Bags at Grocery Stores

California Bill Would Ban All Plastic Shopping Bags at Grocery Stores

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California would ban all plastic shopping bags in 2026 under a new bill announced Thursday in the state Legislature. California already bans thin plastic shopping bags at grocery stores and other shops, but shoppers at checkout can purchase bags made with a thicker plastic that purportedly makes them reusable and recyclable. Democratic state Sen. Catherine Blakespear said people are not reusing or recycling those bags. She points to a state study that found the amount of plastic shopping bags trashed per person grew from 8 pounds per year in 2004 to 11 pounds per year in 2021. “It shows that the plastic bag ban that we passed in this state in 2014 did not reduce the overall use of plastic. It actually resulted in a substantial increase in plastic,” Blakespear, a Democrat from Encinitas, said Thursday. “We are literally choking our planet with plastic waste.” Twelve states, including California, already have some type of statewide plastic bag ban in place, according to the environmental advocacy group Environment America Research & Policy …

Woman Was Asked To Tip 25% At A Grocery Store Checkout Counter

Woman Was Asked To Tip 25% At A Grocery Store Checkout Counter

The great “tipping debate” is more prevalent than ever, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic where “essential” workers became the spotlight of the service industry.  While it’s generally expected to tip delivery workers, restaurant waitstaff, and coffee shop employees, there are other environments where people feel conflicted about how much they should tip (or if they should tip at all).  One woman’s honest post on TikTok emphasized that discomfort.  The woman was asked to tip 25% on her groceries by a ‘high-end’ grocery cashier.  Everett Grey shared her tipping dilemma in a TikTok post from January. “My boyfriend and I went to this grocery store in Austin called Tiny Grocer. It’s a bougie grocery store, not one that we would usually go to.”  Despite the expected inflated prices, Grey admitted they chose the grocery store purely for the luxury, adding “we were having a little date night… we wanted cheese, cured meat, wine.” RELATED: Server Explains Why She’s Against Earning A ‘Livable’ Wage As A Restaurant Employee And Prefers Getting Tips After they shopped around for a while, …

Shoppers turn to packed lunches to keep budgets in line – as grocery price inflation ‘remains high’ | Business News

Shoppers turn to packed lunches to keep budgets in line – as grocery price inflation ‘remains high’ | Business News

Shoppers are turning to packed lunches in an attempt to try and keep their budgets in line, with 86 million more lunchboxes brought to work last year, new research suggests. Spending on alcohol also fell by more than half in January compared with December – with people taking part in Dry January and other health challenges, according to industry data. It comes as figures show the recent trend of a gradual easing in grocery price inflation was effectively halted in January as retailers reined in special offers after Christmas. Kantar Worldpanel, which tracks sales among chains, said the rate of annual price rises for food, drink and other household essentials remained high at 6.8% during the four weeks to 21 January. It represented a drop of just 0.1% on December’s grocery inflation rate of 6.9%. However, separate figures from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) – a trade association which represents supermarkets – and NielsenIQ, also out on Tuesday, are more upbeat. Their research suggests shop price inflation – which includes both groceries and non-food items …

Gov. Laura Kelly Calls for Medicaid Expansion, Offers Tax Cut Plan That Speeds up End of Grocery Tax

Gov. Laura Kelly Calls for Medicaid Expansion, Offers Tax Cut Plan That Speeds up End of Grocery Tax

Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly renewed her call Wednesday to expand Medicaid and countered an anticipated single-rate flat income tax for individuals with a plan that would instead cut taxes by doing things like accelerating the phasing out of the state’s sales tax on groceries. Kelly said in her annual State of the State address that her slate of proposals, which also includes an ongoing focus on addressing falling water levels in a vast aquifer used to irrigate crops, are key to helping rural parts of the state. So far Medicaid expansion has been a non-starter in the Republican-controlled Legislature. But she noted the challenges rural hospital are facing as she tried again following five years of failed efforts to provide state health coverage to an additional 150,000 people. “They say that Medicaid expansion is not a silver bullet for our rural hospitals,” she said. “You know what? I agree. Of course, it’s not going to solve every challenge facing rural health care, but it’s a critical part of the solution. We can’t solve the problem …

Mother sparks debate after letting her son eat in grocery store before paying

Stay ahead of the trend in fashion and beyond with our free weekly Lifestyle Edit newsletter Stay ahead of the trend in fashion and beyond with our free weekly Lifestyle Edit newsletter A mother has defended herself after she was confronted when she let her toddler eat in the grocery store before she’d paid for the items. Samantha Mary took to TikTok, where she explained what happened when her two-year-old son Jack ate two baby pouches of yoghurt at Tesco, a UK grocery store chain. The mother said her interaction with the cashier when trying to scan the two almost-empty pouches “never made her feel so judged by somebody”. She explained that, prior to taking Jack to the grocery store with her, he had been sick and not eating much. Although Mary brought snacks with her for him to eat if he got hungry, he wasn’t “interested” in them. Jack did show an interest in the yoghurt pouches, which due to his previously poor appetite, she allowed him to eat. Mary then went to the …

UK grocery price inflation slows to 6.7% as retailers enjoy busiest Christmas since 2019, data shows – business live | Business

UK grocery price inflation slows to 6.7% as supermarkets enjoy busiest Christmas since 2019 Grocery price inflation in the UK slowed to an annual rate of 6.7% in December, while retailers enjoyed their busiest Christmas since 2019, according to the data firm Kantar. Inflation is now at its lowest level since April 2022, but many consumers are still feeling the pinch. Prices for sweets, eggs and frozen potato products rose fastest but prices fell for dairy items, including butter, milk and cream. Fraser McKevitt , head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar, said: The rate of inflation is coming down at the fastest pace we have ever recorded, but consumers are still facing pretty hefty pressures on their budgets. Retailers were clearly working hard during the festive period to offer best value and win over shoppers, and promotions were central to their strategy. Nearly one third of all spend in the four weeks to Christmas Eve was made on items with some kind of offer, the highest level since December 2020 and £823 million …

UK grocery inflation sticks at 4.3% despite lower food price rises | Retail industry

UK grocery inflation sticks at 4.3% despite lower food price rises | Retail industry

Shop prices continued to rise at 4.3% in December as a price rise on non-food items offset easing costs on food. The increase in the price of goods in stores compared with a year ago was the same rate of inflation as in November and came after several months of easing. Retailers warned that new border checks on EU goods entering the UK, which are due to begin from April, could further push up prices. From 30 January, imports of items including some animal products, plants and plant products, and high-risk food of non-animal origin from the EU will require health certificates, followed by physical inspections of these goods at the UK border from the end of April. Helen Dickinson, the chief executive of the British Retail Consortium trade body that represents most big retailers, said: “Retailers will continue to do all they can to keep prices down in 2024, but there are obstacles on the road ahead [including] new border checks for EU imports, [and] hundreds of millions more on business rates bills from …
