A new full trailer for Ebenezer, the upcoming big-screen reimagining of A Christmas Carol, has arrived – and it gives fans a first look at Johnny Depp’s Ebenezer Scrooge. The new take on the classic Dickens tale from horror movie director Ti West (Pearl, Maxxxine) is coming to cinemas in November. The new trailer sees Depp’s character delivering the character’s trademark “Bah, humbug” to a friendly festive greeting. The character is then confronted by the ghosts of his past, present and future, with one (played by Andrea Riseborough) warning: “Your nightmare has just begun.” The footage also gives us a good look at West’s horror-tinged reimagining of the story, with Scrooge facing supernatural entities and confronted by his own mortality. Pirates Of The Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has claimed that he is currently in negotiations with Johnny Depp to get him to return to the franchise. Over the weekend, Bruckheimer appeared at Disney’s annual D23 fan event, where updates are given about the company’s films, theme parks and other major projects. During the event, Pirates Of The Caribbean’s lead producer confirmed to Deadline that he was “talking with Johnny” about getting him to play the role of Captain Jack Sparrow again. “We’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done,” he added. Johnny Depp has cleared his Instagram grid and replaced it with three posts carrying a message for his nearly 30 million followers: Prepare to be humbugged. As of July 23, the actor has wiped his previous posts, updated his profile picture, and transformed his account into an advertisement for Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, his upcoming movie based on Charles Dickens’ holiday classic.
