Foreign Capital Returns To Brazil As Goldman Clients See 20% Stock Rally If Bolsonaro Defeats Socialist

Brazil’s tightening presidential race could drive a sharp repricing of local equities. A new Goldman Sachs survey of 70 global investors found that half see at least 20% upside in EWZ, the US-listed Brazil equity ETF, by year-end if right-wing challenger Flávio Bolsonaro defeats socialist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The first round is scheduled for Oct. 4, with a potential runoff on Oct. 25. Lula (Left); Bolsonaro (Right) Goldman Sachs Managing Director Nelson Armbrust provided clients color on the upcoming elections in South America, which could cement a historic, once-in-a-generation rightward shift across the continent. Related: He focused on positioning: Flávio Bolsonaro (right-leaning candidate) is gaining momentum; polls show him tied or closing the gap in the second round.  As a reminder, pools don’t adjust for the likely voter (aka: the people that actually turn up on the day to cast a vote, no mail ballot votes in Brazil), and historically there has been higher absence from Lula’s voters.  We just did a survey with 70 global investors about their cross-asset views in Brazil, the bottom …

Elena Rybakina defeats Aryna Sabalenka in US Open women’s singles final | Tennis

The cool Kazakh lifts the trophy after frustrating Sabalenka in a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 win in New York as the new world No 1. Published On 12 Sep 202612 Sep 2026 Elena Rybakina delivered a devastating performance to dethrone two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka with a 6-4, 5- 7, 6-2 win in the US Open women’s singles final, earning a third Grand Slam crown to accompany her ascent to world number one. The Russian-born Kazakh’s icy composure on the grand stage helped her snap Sabalenka’s 20-match winning streak at Flushing Meadows on Saturday, denying the Belarusian the chance to emulate Serena Williams and Chris Evert with three straight New York titles. An ankle injury had threatened to derail Rybakina’s campaign even before the tournament started, but the 27-year-old shrugged off those concerns to add the US Open title to her Australian Open triumph this year and Wimbledon success in 2022. The ‌‌title showdown at Arthur Ashe Stadium had all the ingredients of a classic between the top two in the rankings, and though Sabalenka brought …

Politics Home Article | Nigel Farage Defeats Count Binface To Win Clacton By-Election

2 min read3 hr Nigel Farage will continue as the MP for Clacton after winning the by-election he triggered. Farage secured a comfortable victory in the Essex constituency, winning around 63 per cent of the vote. Novelty candidate Count Binface came second with 26 per cent of the vote. Farage resigned as an MP and triggered the by-election in July amid growing pressure over a £5m donation he received from crypto-billionaire Christopher Harborne weeks before announcing his intention to run in the 2024 general election. His failure to declare the donation led to an investigation by the parliamentary standards watchdog. The investigation was paused while the by-election took place as Farage was no longer an MP. However, the watchdog confirmed on Friday morning that it would resume now that the Reform leader is returning to the House of Commons.  It could result in suspension and another by-election if he is found to have broken the rules.   Speaking in July, Farage described Thursday’s by-election as “people versus the establishment”, adding that the “people of Clacton” would be “the …

Tesla defeats Sweden’s IF Metall union after 1,021-day strike

Tesla defeats Sweden’s IF Metall union after 1,021-day strike

Sweden’s largest industrial union, IF Metall, is calling off its strike against Tesla after 1,021 days, the longest labor conflict in modern Swedish history. The union says it’s stopping because Tesla bought out every one of its striking members, leaving the walkout with nothing left to withhold. The dispute started in October 2023 over a single demand: that Tesla sign a Swedish collective bargaining agreement for its mechanics. Nearly three years later, Tesla still hasn’t signed one. And now the union is standing down. IF Metall announced today that it’s ending all conflict measures against Tesla effective 00:01 on August 19. In its statement, the union was blunt about why. Tesla “bought out” its members at the company, so the strike “no longer has any effect.” The longest strike in modern Swedish history The fight began on October 27, 2023, when Tesla’s roughly 120 mechanics across seven Swedish workshops walked off the job after Tesla refused to sign a kollektivavtal, the collective agreement that covers the vast majority of Swedish workplaces. Spain Defeats Argentina at the 2026 World Cup Final

Spain Defeats Argentina at the 2026 World Cup Final

In 2015, however, he found a path to success that he has hardly strayed from since: on his third attempt, he lifted the U-19 European Championship title after a 2-0 victory over Russia in the final played in Katerini (Greece), with a squad that included Rodri and Mikel Merino, as well as Unai Simón as the backup goalkeeper. The first two, who have since become mainstays in his midfield, arrived at this latest World Cup under similar circumstances, having suffered and overcome serious injuries and without enough playing time to regain their form. De la Fuente not only waited for them—in Merino’s case, until the very last moment, though as the coach said, “if it had been necessary, I would have gone to pick up Mikel from his house in my arms”—but he also placed his full trust in both of them (especially in Rodri, who has started every match). And they, despite not performing as hoped in the group stage and even facing criticism, have more than repaid that trust: the Manchester City player …

India’s batting under the microscope after T20 defeats by England, Ireland

July 12 : Pundits and former players highlighted India’s struggles with the bat on Saturday after the Twenty20 World Cup champions suffered back-to-back series defeats by England and Ireland. England beat India by 56 runs in the fifth and final T20I at Southampton, the hosts sealing a 4-0 series win after the opener ended in a no result due to rain. That series defeat came after Ireland had completed a 2-0 T20 whitewash last month. Player-turned-commentator Dinesh Karthik said India’s batting unit had looked out of rhythm throughout the tour. “I think India have a problem adapting to a little bit of extra bounce,” he told cricket news site Cricbuzz. “The middle order looks wobbly, not confident, and it is definitely not the Indian team that we saw during the World Cup or before it in bilateral series, where they took down opponents and actually imposed a lot of fear. Where has that gone?” India captain Shreyas Iyer said their failure to adapt to different conditions had cost them in the series. “We kept on going …
