PlayStation Plus is dressing up as a gangster this month. It’s not the most Halloween move the service could make, but I’m kind of into it. There’s something very autumnal to me about mafia films and, therefore, the Mafia game series. Maybe it’s the muted color palette in some films, like the shades of brown throughout the Godfather, or all the suits and coats everyone wears that make me think of cooler weather. Either way, it feels fitting to me that Mafia: The Old Country, with its tale of organized crime in the hills of Sicily, is coming to PlayStation Plus this month. PlayStation Plus, which is Sony’s version of Xbox Game Pass, offers a large, constantly expanding library of games. After a nearly four-year wait, a new Apple TV is finally expected to be announced as part of Apple’s “Welcome home” launch on Tuesday, October 13. We expect the new Apple TV to be announced in a press release shared on the Apple Newsroom website on Tuesday, and then selected reporters and content creators invited to Apple’s “Welcome home” experience in New York that day will likely share hands-on photos and videos of the device. The experience begins at 9 a.m. Eastern Time. The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K is rumored to be equipped with an A19 or A19 Pro chip. This chip upgrade would result in the Apple TV having 8GB to 12GB of RAM, and this will reportedly enable Siri AI support on the device. For weeks there’s been a steady drumbeat near the halls of power at Netflix over the question of rightsizing, job cuts and a restructure ahead of its third quarter earnings disclosure on October 20. While the streaming giant still lords over its rivals in the subscription space and co-chiefs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters command an annual content spending budget of $20 billion, Wall Street arguably has viewed this as an off year for Netflix. Once a high-flying tech growth story, the nearly 30-year-old company is now the studio establishment as all the attention and investment has gone to AI bets in public markets.
