New Spring Apple Watch Band Colors Coming Soon

New Spring Apple Watch Band Colors Coming Soon

Apple often refreshes Apple Watch band colors on a seasonal basis, and code in iOS 17.4 suggests that new spring colors will be coming soon. As found by MacRumors contributor Steve Moser, the spring colors include Light Blue, Ocean Blue, Pink, Raspberry, Soft Mint, and Sunshine (likely a light yellow). There are also two Hermes colors, Bleu Céleste and Jaune de Naples. When released, these colors will be available for watch faces that support different color options, and they’ll be listed in a Spring 2024 section in the Apple Watch app on iPhone. Right now, the colors are not showing up there. Apple often also uses these same colors for new ‌iPhone‌ cases and iPad cases. If we get a spring event this year around the end of March, we can expect to see these band options and possibly new cases that offer the same colors. ‘Pokémon Legends: Z-A’ Is Coming in 2025. Will a New Nintendo Switch Join It?

‘Pokémon Legends: Z-A’ Is Coming in 2025. Will a New Nintendo Switch Join It?

A new Pokémon Legends game is coming to the “Nintendo Switch family of systems” in 2025. Pokémon Legends: Z-A, announced Tuesday with a brief teaser trailer, is an “ambitious new entry” into the series that will launch simultaneously worldwide. It’s also fuel for the fire that a new Nintendo Switch console is coming next year. The first Pokémon Legends game, Arceus, launched in 2022. Arceus was new ground for the franchise: the first open-world game in the series, something for which fans had long clamored. The Pokémon Company offered little in the way of details on Z-A, which will take place in Lumiose City of the Kalos region, the France-inspired setting introduced in Pokémon X and Y. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, “an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon.” Wording around the game’s launch, specifically that it will come to Nintendo “systems,” has already caught the eye of some fans. While that could refer to variations on the Switch—the Switch Lite, the OLED …

GIMP 3 is coming! The 3 features that I’m most excited about (and why)

GIMP 3 is coming! The 3 features that I’m most excited about (and why)

Jack Wallen/ZDNET I’ve been using GIMP for decades to do everything from editing screenshots to creating complex book covers, website banners, and so much more. I use GIMP every day. Without GIMP, I’d have to turn to the likes of Photoshop, which doesn’t really run on Linux.  To me, GIMP is a must-have. Also: How to use Image Creator from Microsoft Designer The only complaint I have with GIMP is that evolution is glacial. Currently, I’m using version 2.10.34. Version 2.0 was first released on March 23, 2004.  We’ve been using the 2.x release for twenty years! That all changes sometime this spring, when the team behind GIMP plans to release the first 3.x version of the software and they have some really exciting things to offer. These features have been highlighted in a number of publications (you can also view the official GIMP roadmap) but now that we’re getting nearer to the Libre Graphics Meeting (held in Rennes, France from May 9 to May 12), it’s time to get excited. Here are the three …

When is iOS 18 coming out? Apple’s iPhone update is ‘biggest’ yet

When is iOS 18 coming out? Apple’s iPhone update is ‘biggest’ yet

Behind the scenes, Apple’s goal is to make AI chatbots run on mobile devices instead of in remote data centres over the cloud. To get there, Apple would need to shrink the size of the AI’s engine, known as a large language model, to fit on its custom-built smartphone chips. Its rivals have already pulled off the feat, with both Google and Samsung introducing smaller AI systems on their latest phones. Source link

Research Reveals The 1 Breastfeeding Benefit We Never Saw Coming

Research Reveals The 1 Breastfeeding Benefit We Never Saw Coming

For the first six months of your babies life, giving nothing but breastmilk is recommended by the NHS. It comes with lots of nutritional value, health benefits, as well as emotional bonding. But did you know breastfeeding can also encourage healthy eating habits?! Well, according to new research parents who breastfeed their little ones for more than half a year are less likely to offer them sweet or savoury snacks before their first birthday, hinting that breastfeeding babies for longer could actually have a positive impact on making healthy food choices. In the latest study, led by the University of Glasgow and published in the Maternal and Child Nutrition journal, researchers looked at the links between breastfeeding and the weaning process. 2730 parents were part of the Scottish Maternal Infant and Nutrition Survey which found a positive relationship between breastfeeding for six months and the diet of infants. Of those surveyed, 20% of babies were solely infant formula-fed while 48% continued breastfeeding beyond 6 months. Research found that 15% of breastfed babies were less likely …

iOS 18 Rumored to Have Design Changes, macOS Revamp Coming Later

iOS 18 Rumored to Have Design Changes, macOS Revamp Coming Later

iOS 18 will likely include some design changes, but a macOS revamp might be a year or two away, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. In his Power On newsletter today, Gurman said Apple is working to update the design of iOS as “early as this year.” A sketchy rumor claimed that iOS 18 would feature some visionOS-inspired design elements, and while Gurman agreed that iOS could take some design cues from visionOS, he does not expect a “total overhaul that mirrors visionOS.” While he hedged with “as early as this year” wording today in regards to iOS design changes, Gurman was more firm about iOS 18 being redesigned in a November edition of his newsletter, when he said Apple’s senior management had described iOS 18 as “ambitious and compelling,” with “major new features and designs.” As for macOS, Gurman said Apple has started early work on design changes for that operating system that could debut in 2025 or 2026. The platform last received a major redesign with macOS Big Sur in 2020. Apple is expected …

Hundreds jailed for coming to UK in small boats to claim asylum, says report | Immigration and asylum

Hundreds of people, including children and victims of trafficking and torture, have been convicted and jailed for arriving in the UK in small boats to claim asylum, according to a report. The prosecutions have largely slipped under the radar, although the issue has been highlighted by the case of the Senegalese teenager Ibrahima Bah. He was sentenced to nine years and six months detention after being convicted of four counts of manslaughter and one of facilitating a breach of immigration law after steering an overcrowded dinghy that got into difficulty, leading to the drowning of at least four people. The report, called No Such Thing as Justice Here, from the Centre for Criminology at the University of Oxford and Border Criminologies, examined the cases of people who have been imprisoned for their arrival on a “small boat” since the Nationality and Borders Act (2022) came into force. It used a mix of attendance at more than 100 court hearings, as well as freedom of information requests and interviews with lawyers, convicted asylum seekers convicted and …

‘When’s Nigel coming back?’ Farage absence looms large over Reform UK conference | Reform UK

‘When’s Nigel coming back?’ Farage absence looms large over Reform UK conference | Reform UK

On a sunny day at Doncaster racecourse, those gathered for Reform UK’s “biggest ever party conference” were presented with a dizzying array of pledges to cut tax and freeze “non-essential” immigration as its leading lights published a programme to “save Britain”. Yet even as the sun beamed down, the shadow of one absent figure seemed to hang over proceedings. There was a jubilant mood at the South Yorkshire gathering as they cheered leader Richard Tice’s demands for an inquiry into vaccine harms, to break with the World Health Organization and to fire headteachers who refused to drop “critical race theory”. Even from the conference stage, however, it was acknowledged there was one big unanswered question. David White, the Barnsley South candidate, admitted he is regularly asked: “When’s Nigel coming back?” The leaders of Reform UK, which grew out of the Brexit party after the last election, are in optimistic mood after seizing 13% of the vote at the Wellingborough byelection, its best ever result. They believe it confirms national polling that suggests about one in …

Jeep’s first EV coming soon, electric Wrangler-like Recon to follow

The first all-electric Jeep could be delivered to US customers as soon as July. According to new CEO Antonio Filosa, production of Jeep’s first EV, the Wagoneer S SUV, is expected to begin in Q2. Deliveries could happen as soon as the third quarter. Jeep’s CEO also confirmed we may see the electric Wrangler-like Recon launch by the end of the year. The first Jeep EV could reach US buyers as early as Q3 After slashing prices amid slumping sales Friday (including up to $4K on its best-selling Grand Cherokee), Filosa admitted more needs to be done to fend off incoming competition. Jeep is facing new rivals like the Rivian R1S, which was the seventh best-selling EV in the US last year. Volkswagen’s off-road Scout brand is also set to launch its first EVs soon. Jeep’s first EV in the US, the Wagoneer S SUV, is expected to enter production in the second quarter. Filosa said the first deliveries could happen as early as the third quarter.
