Tennessee’s attempt to whitewash “Roots” was stopped — for now

A few months ago I found a paperback copy of George Orwell’s “1984” on a city bus. I opened it and found myself reading a familiar passage about the protagonist Winston Smith’s cubicle and the slot in the wall nicknamed the “memory hole.” “When one knew that any document was due for destruction, or even when one saw a scrap of waste paper lying near, it was an automatic action to lift the flap of the corresponding slot and drop it in, whereupon it would be whirled away on a current of warm air to the enormous furnaces which were hidden somewhere in the basement.” We are living a version of this. The Trump administration is systematically banning books, scrubbing scientific data, defunding education and waging war on facts, truth and democratic life — all in the name of patriotism and American greatness. Red states like Tennessee have become the laboratories for this Orwellian assault. Under the totalitarian Age-Appropriate Materials Act — a Tennessee law passed in 2022 that, along with an addendum passed two …

Marjorie Taylor Greene Amplifies Viral Doubts About Butler Assassination Attempt

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has drawn attention to a detailed personal account from a longtime Trump supporter who now questions key elements of the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt on then-candidate Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. In an April 12 post on X, Trisha Hope, a self-described J6 activist and 2024 Republican National Convention delegate from Texas, details how she shifted from staunch MAGA supporter to skeptic –  writing “I learned of the attempt on Trump’s life at the Butler rally.  I was in the middle of having dinner at a restaurant in Little Rock, AR.” Then, at the convention, she thought it was strange that Trump opened his speech by saying he would recount the incident “exactly” once because “it’s actually too painful to tell,” which she found out of character for someone who makes everything about himself. Hope also thought that the ‘ICONIC’ photograph of Trump rising with fist raised, shouting “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT” was weird and “perfectly timed” with a flag lowering and Secret Service agents positioned …

With tensions running high because of America’s and Israel’s ongoing conflict with Iran, rumors are circulating among Palestinian and Israeli Muslims that could further inflame the situation. With the Jewish Passover taking place between April 1-9, 2026, Islamic sources claim that Orthodox Jews are preparing to conduct the Passover sacrifice on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, Israel365 News reports. “As Passover approaches, Palestinian leaders are sounding alarms that Jews intend to carry out the Biblical Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount,” Adam Berkowitz writes. “The warnings have spread through official Palestinian channels and media outlets, framing the possibility of a Jewish ritual as a dangerous provocation and a threat to the ‘Islamic character’ of the site.”  The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) actually issued a formal statement expressing its concerns. It suggested that individuals,, described as ’settlers,’ were planning to conduct the sacrifice. The PLO also falsely claimed that the UN has declared the Temple Mount to be exclusively an Islamic zone. Jerusalem’s Temple Mount was the former location of the Jewish Temple that was destroyed in 70 …
