Jay Rockefeller married Sharon Percy in 1967

Jay and Sharon tied the knot in April 1967 in a large ceremony at the University of Chicago’s Rockefeller Chapel. Sharon was just 22 when she married Jay, but the young bride understood the political world she was entering.

Sharon’s dad, Charles H. Percy, was a senator from Illinois for 18 years. At the reception, a crowd of almost 1,500 teenagers stood outside in the rain to cheer on the French entertainer Maurice Chevalier, who performed, per a New York Times report of the wedding.

I studied medicine at Trinity College, Oxford, and qualified as a doctor. There are already many excellent blogs exploring faith, humanism, atheism, politics, rationalism, philosophical doubt and everything in between. But I don't intend to limit myself to any particular subject. This is simply a space where I'll share whatever comes to mind, whether it's something I've been thinking about for years or just a passing thought from the day.
