The 13 Most Anticipated Romantasy Books Out in 2026

The 13 Most Anticipated Romantasy Books Out in 2026

Adventurers and admirers gather around: there are some excellent romantasies to look out for in 2026. Romantasy, combining the fantasy and romance genres, continues to be a big hit on the shelves. Featuring a central love story with a Happily Ever After/Happily For Now ending in a fantasy world setting, the subgenre gives readers a chance to experience fantastical worlds and love simultaneously. Romantasy has a foothold in the zeitgeist, speaking to our collective longing for magic, myth, legend, and romance made manifest in novels where, although impossible odds may impede you, you will always have someone by your side, rooting for your success. Romantasy is a hope-forward subgenre that I find absolutely enchanting. One thing is for sure: in 2026, publishers are not leaving anything on the table. Now that the subgenre is more established, authors have a chance to play within the space and take chances with new ideas, from funny cozy concepts to darker plots. While there are some incredibly exciting series continuations, the market is also full of new worlds from …

The Most Anticipated Books, According to USA TODAY

Welcome to Today in Books, our daily round-up of literary headlines at the intersection of politics, culture, media, and more. The Most Anticipated Books, According to USA TODAY It’s becoming evident which books are anticipated by multiple outlets. Take, for example, Half His Age by Jennette McCurdy, which now feels as familiar to me as any book I’ve actually read and is among USA TODAY’s recent list of most anticipated books. Kin by Tayari Jones is another big repeat, and of course it is because Tayari Jones, y’all. I hadn’t come across Queen of Faces by Petra Lord, a dark academia by a trans author. If I read any dark academia next year, it’ll be that one. The 10 most anticipated video games of 2026

Cairn Live your mountaineering fantasies and brave the elements in a wonderfully illustrated climbing game. You must carefully place climber Aava’s hands and feet to make your way up a forbidding mountain, camping on ledges and bandaging her fingers as you go. Like real climbing, it is challenging and somewhat brutal. PC, PlayStation 5; 29 January Onwards and upwards … Cairn. Photograph: The Game Bakers Reanimal A two-player animated horror game in the Tim Burton mode, minus all the whimsy. In a setup reminiscent of the famously discomfiting games Limbo and Inside, a brother and sister must escape a twisted mockery of their home town, finding their friends as they go. They are stalked by horrible spike-limbed monsters and grotesquely reanimated creatures. Genuinely frightening and artistically impressive. Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation5, Xbox; 13 February Resident Evil Requiem Capcom’s horror series is very old, but it still comes up with new ways to make your skin crawl. In Requiem we play as bookish Grace, whom the game’s director calls “the biggest scaredy-cat in Resident Evil …

TV in 2026: our most anticipated shows of the New Year

TV in 2026: our most anticipated shows of the New Year

It’s almost the end of 2025. Where did the days go? Suddenly, it’s time to start making hasty New Year’s resolutions and pondering what the year ahead promises. But if that seems a bit too depressing a prospect, fortunately, the next 12 months promise plenty of great TV to get excited about. From the fantastical world of Westeros to the equally depressing one of the Lord of the Flies, here’s what to look out for. Stranger Things Season 5: the finale It does feel a bit like cheating to add this one to the list, seeing as it comes out on New Year’s Eve in the US – but still, it’s out at 1am in the UK, which officially makes this the first must-watch show of 2026. The Duffer Brothers have a lot of tying-up of loose ends to do: there’s the monstrous Vecna to defeat, Will suddenly has superpowers and also the US military is on the loose. Chances that at least one of the 12 main cast members will die is decent. Netflix, …
