Will it be a back four or back five for the hosts? Michael Carrick’s tenure at Middlesbrough tells us the formation is quite likely to be 4-2-3-1. There is no Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha or Benjamin Sesko in the home starting lineup.

Manchester Utd: Lammens, Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw, Mainoo, Casemiro, Amad, Fernandes, Dorgu, Mbeumo.
Substitutes: Bayindir, Heaven, Malacia, Yoro, J.Fletcher, Mount, Ugarte, Cunha, Sesko.

An attacking lineup from Pep Guardiola, with Bernardo Silva, Antoine Semenyo, Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland all starting. With all the injuries at the back, Manchester City’s defence looks like it could be got at, although Marc Guehi looks like he could be coming through the door in the coming days.

Manchester City: Donnarumma, Lewis, Khusanov, Alleyne, Ake, Rodrigo, Bernardo, Semenyo, Foden, Doku, Haaland.
Substitutes: Trafford, Bettinelli, Reijnders, Cherki, Ait-Nouri, O’Reilly, McAidoo, Mukasa, Mfuni.
