Three people have been charged with attempted murder after a shooting incident that took place in Braintree last week.
Destiny Ema, 23, Kayden Brown, 18, and a 17-year-old who cannot be named due to his age were arrested after the incident on Market Place on Monday, 31 August, Essex Police said.
Two teenagers sustained serious injuries to their faces and upper bodies, and a third person was also injured.
Ema, of Meadgate Avenue, Chelmsford, Brown, of Noaks Avenue, Chelmsford, and the 17-year-old, who’s from Braintree, are all due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, 7 September).
Police also said Ema has been charged with offences connected to separate investigations.
He’s been charged with attempted GBH with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a firearm while committing an indictable offence, possession of a firearm while prohibited for life, harassment, malicious communications, and possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence.
Detective Inspector Frazer Low said: “These arrests are the result of days of intensive work by officers and staff, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
“While we continue to believe this incident is linked to a dispute connected to criminal drug activity, our enquiries have established that none of those injured was involved in that offending.
“I would like to thank the community for their patience and support since Monday night. We know an incident of this nature, in such a prominent public location, will have caused concern.
“We remain committed to keeping our communities safe and are grateful for the information and assistance we have received from the public.”
