New Balance & USM Made Modular Cold Plunge Tanks for Runners

New Balance makes good dad shoes. USM makes good furniture. Bring the two minds together, and, well, good things are bound to come, like modular cold plunge tanks.

No seriously. For their next project, they designed wooden cold plunge baths, supported by USM’s famous chrome bars, of course. It’s a gift to New York’s marathon runners, a place to cool off after training hard and work even harder to cross the finish line.

Another cool thing about New Balance and USM’s latest linkup is the secret third collaborator, Dover Street Market. DSM recently linked with New Balance for a collaborative SuperComp Elite v6, which featured a shiny reflective upper and thick, highly cushioned black soles. To USM, it was like seeing its own gleaming chrome bars in the New Balance runner form.

Shiny sneakers and a shiny cold plunge station? Sounds like a match to me. And it was. The workers who helped build the baths wore Dover Street Market’s New Balance sneakers. Meanwhile, USM’s bars also make a guest appearance in Dover Street Market’s campaign.

‘Tis another neat collaboration from New Balance and USM, for sure. The brands may not have been on my collab bingo card, but they make genuinely good stuff together, I must admit.

I mean, when two people with such good tastes come together, that’s expected.
