Fashion’s biggest night is upon us. The Met Gala 2026 red carpet is officially underway, and while this year’s theme, “Fashion Is Art,” isn’t quite as menswear-coded as 2025’s “Tailored For You,” you can still expect the gentlemen in attendance tonight to pull off some rather daring ensembles.
The dress code plays off the Costume Institute’s accompanying “Costume Art” exhibition, which opens to the public on Sunday, May 10, in the Met’s newly installed Condé M. Nast Galleries. And while the phrase “Fashion Is Art” sounds rather ambiguous, most are interpreting it as an ode to the human form: Think the campy, muscle-forward looks that Walter Van Beirendonck designed for U2’s PopMart Tour; Thom Browne’s seam-busting tailoring and sculptural, Botero-esque gowns; the meticulous corsetry of couturiers like Vivienne Westwood and Mugler; Dior’s recent hip-accentuating menswear; or Jean Paul Gaultier’s corporal trompe l’oeil designs, made to appear as though the wearer isn’t wearing anything at all.
Co-hosted by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, the 2026 Met Gala feels primed to be as starry and surprising as ever. Keep it locked here all night long to see the biggest, brashest celebrity menswear looks as soon as they hit the carpet.
