Maya Jama praised as ‘true winner’ after matching Celebrity Traitors donation for chosen charity

Fans have praised Maya Jama as a “true winner” after she announced she had matched the Celebrity Traitors’ winnings in a donation to her chosen charity.

Ms Jama, 32, came within a whisker of going all the way as a traitor after she made it through to Friday night’s grand finale.

But she was banished by her fellow contestants at the final roundtable, when she left without revealing her true identity leaving King Kenny as the final traitor standing.

The content creator looked a shoe-in to take the full prize fund for his charity as he entered the endgame, but was eventually caught out by actor Sebastian Croft, who persuaded comedian Romesh Ranganathan to banish him at the last moment.

It was a victory for the faithful at the end of the dramatic finale, when Mr Ranganathan and Mr Croft ended the game together, splitting the £83,000 prize pot between their chosen charities.

Mr Croft said he had chosen to donate to refugee charity Choose Love, while Mr Ranganathan said he was donating his to the Refugee Council.

But in a post on X on Saturday, Ms Jama revealed she would be matching what she would have won if she had remained until the end to her choice of charity, Action for Children. The organisation supports children to ensure they have a “safe and happy childhood” and the foundations they need to thrive.

The 32-year-old presenter and entrepreneur wrote: “Just donated what I would have won for my chosen charity @actnforchildren [heart emojis] amazing cause”.

Fans praised the move, calling Ms Jama a “superstar” and praising her generosity.

“Aww that’s amazing and so kind..well done Maya,” one commented, while another said: “Class throughout and after”.

“That’s a great thing to have done. Enjoyed watching you this series,” another wrote.

Others complimented her choice of charity, writing: “Good choice of charity too. You played a good game and your charity did deserve something from it. Representing Brizzle well.”

This series of Celebrity Traitors has been a ratings winner for the BBC, brining in 15 million viewers at its peak.

The show’s civilian version, The Traitors, will return for its fifth series in January 2027.

I studied medicine at Trinity College, Oxford, and qualified as a doctor. There are already many excellent blogs exploring faith, humanism, atheism, politics, rationalism, philosophical doubt and everything in between. But I don't intend to limit myself to any particular subject. This is simply a space where I'll share whatever comes to mind, whether it's something I've been thinking about for years or just a passing thought from the day.
