Emmerdale first look as dangerous Dr Todd confronts Charity

Emmerdale spoilers follow. This article includes discussion of sexual assault, which some readers may find upsetting.

Emmerdale has shared a sinister first look at Sunday’s (9 August) episode, as Dr Caitlin Todd confronts Charity Dingle in her own home. After sexually assaulting Charity last month, the villain tries to intimidate her, but will her plan backfire?

Earlier this week, Dr Todd made a shocking return to the village following a lengthy absence. She waltzed back into the hospital to resume her role, and asked Manpreet Sharma to fill her in on any local gossip.

Meanwhile, Charity finally made the brave decision to return to her support group, and was left feeling slightly lighter about the ordeal. However, in a dark cliffhanger, she came face to face with her attacker again, as Dr Todd cornered her in her living room.

In a newly released spoiler clip for Sunday’s episode, which can be viewed below, a terrified Charity orders the doctor to get out of her house, but the smug Caitlin doesn’t budge. The doctor goads Charity, remarking: “Oh, I have missed all that fiery passion.”

Charity makes a bee-line for her phone but Caitlin gets there first, snatching it out of reach. She claims Charity has been spreading “filthy lies” about her, and says they need to “get a few things straight”.

Later, the doctor continues to push Charity, hoping she will lose her cool, while the latter tries to get a confession from her attacker. But tensions quickly rise and Caitlin threatens to reveal the truth about Leyla’s parentage if Charity doesn’t stop her accusations.

Furious and scared, Charity calls Dr Todd a rapist to her face, but she is unaware that somebody else has crept into the house. Who is this mystery eavesdropper – and how much did they hear?

The developments come after Charity waved goodbye to her son, Noah, who left the Dales for a job in Germany. The on-screen exit, which took place in Wednesday’s (5 August) episode, ends Jack Downham’s 17-year stint on the ITV soap.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
