eBay Turns Four Video Game Icons Into Real SEMA Cars You Can Buy

eBay Turns Four Video Game Icons Into Real SEMA Cars You Can Buy

Video games played an important role in introducing many of us to car culture, long before we were even old enough to get our licenses. And we’ve garnered many fond memories with titles like Forza Horizon, GTA, or Gran Turismo – collecting, racing, and customizing cars we couldn’t even dream of owning in real life.

If your heart isn’t yet filled with a deep sense of nostalgia, it almost certainly will be after seeing what eBay’s been up to. The massive online marketplace is organizing an auction to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a noble cause served with some truly spectacular rides inspired by gaming.

From Your Favorite Racing Games Straight To SEMA

A total of four rad custom cars are included in what eBay calls the Most Wanted Collection, all scheduled to appear at the SEMA show on November 5. Among them, there is a 2006 Dodge Viper clad in blue paintwork with white stripes and dubbed “The Street Icon,” as well as an E30-gen BMW 325i Convertible from 1992 nicknamed “The Classic Getaway.”

We’ve also got a couple of Chevrolet variants – a white 2022-model Corvette C8 known as “The South Beach Supercar” and a funky ‘75 Chevy Nova called “The Hot Pink Hi-riser.” The Nova features a huge set of wheels and a striking, pinkish purple finish that looks absolutely phenomenal. They don’t seem to be direct tributes to any specific video game cars in particular, more like a way of broadly echoing the spirit of their digital counterparts.

What Do We Know About The Auction Itself?

The auctioning process will get underway at 12:00 Pacific Time on November 5, and it will be streamed on eBay Live with Sung Kang and Hertrech “Hert” Eugene Jr. as the hosts. Bidding starts at a mere $6, while all the cash collected from the sales will be donated straight to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Besides supporting a good cause by selling some amazing cars, the initiative will also give the eBay Motors platform a ton of publicity. You can tune in for the auction and place your bids online if you’re interested, but expect things to get serious very quickly given how much exposure the Most Wanted Collection will be getting.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

All in all, this is a great way of performing a charitable act and celebrating car culture at the same time, especially with hosts like famous actor Sung Kang and automotive personality Hertrech Eugene Jr. Interestingly enough, Hert is known to have found his passion for cars through video games, so having him alongside Kang could hardly be more appropriate for this occasion.

And Kang has also been involved in gaming to a great extent, with his real-world custom Datsun 240Z (dubbed “Fugu Z”) making its way into Gran Turismo Sport and Gran Turismo 7. Unfortunately, though, there’s no word on the builders who contributed with the various modifications carried out on these cars, but they clearly did a fantastic job at replicating our childhood favorites.
