I tried Prince William’s fitness watch and this is my verdict

I tried Prince William’s fitness watch and this is my verdict

If there’s one thing we know about the royal family, they love a health tracker. Whether it’s Queen Camilla’s Fitbit or Prince Harry’s favorite Oura Ring, the famous family are evidently health-conscious and on top of the latest fitness technology.  It seemed as though they already had the market covered on health trackers; that is, until Prince William was spotted wearing the WHOOP 4.0 band in July this year, cheering England on at a soccer match against Switzerland. I was intrigued by the simple fitness band the Prince sported, as he had spirited reactions to his team winning the Euro game. The band appeared to have no interface and was also spotted on the wrists of Olympic runner Sha’Carri Richardson, soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo, and basketball hero LeBron James.  After seeing Prince William’s fitness tracker of choice, I tested it out for myself to see if it really was worth the price tag.  What does WHOOP do? © Carl RecineWilliam sported his WHOOP at the Euro match in July WHOOP is a wearable fitness tracker …

Telluride: Film critics blindsided after realising who plays Robbie Williams in new biopic Better Man

Get our free weekly email for all the latest cinematic news from our film critic Clarisse Loughrey Get our The Life Cinematic email for free Get our The Life Cinematic email for free Film critics have been left blindsided after discovering who plays Robbie Williams in a biopic about his life. The spotlight is placed on the “Let Me Entertain You” and “Rock DJ” singer in a new film titled Better Man, which premiered at Telluride Film Festival on Monday (2 September). Almost one year after the release of a Netflix documentary series about Williams’s life, the film, whose title is taken from a single released in 2000, tells the story of his rise to fame in boyband Take That before embarking on a successful solo career. Those sitting down to watch the film, though, were left surprised after realising that, in the film, Williams is played by a CGI monkey. “The other thing that sets Better Man apart from the rest of its ilk – and this might be too subtle for some people …

‘He’s been silly, hasn’t he?’: Welshpool voters on Craig Williams’ election bet | General election 2024

‘He’s been silly, hasn’t he?’: Welshpool voters on Craig Williams’ election bet | General election 2024

They don’t get too many political scandals in Welshpool. Repairs to a canal bridge were the most eye-catching agenda item at the last full town council meeting. But the place was abuzz on Thursday with talk of why on earth its local lad done good, Craig Williams, Rishi Sunak’s closest parliamentary aide, had placed a bet on a July election three days before the prime minister named the date. “He’s been silly, hasn’t he?” said Paul Alexander, who runs a hardware and camping shop on the main street of the mid-Wales town, down the road from Williams’ white-washed constituency office. “It’s not a great look. It feels a bit greedy. He’s risking his political future on a flutter.” Opposite, a woman came out of the Coral betting shop having placed a wager on a horse. “Why didn’t he get someone else to put a bet on for him if it was going to be embarrassing?” she asked. The woman asked not to be named for two reasons: her husband doesn’t realise she bets, and she …

Worried about your beach body? Take a lesson from Gen Z | Zoe Williams

Worried about your beach body? Take a lesson from Gen Z | Zoe Williams

Mr Z was having a crisis of confidence, due to the change of seasons. He thinks summer’s easy when you’re young; you just wear fewer clothes. In middle age all these questions crowd in: are you allowed to wear shorts? Where do you stand on vests? Should you be worrying about your body hair? What if it’s greying? Did society ever land on a decision regarding socks, sandals, toes, men, pedicures and the peculiar pallor below the ankle tan line? It’s a minefield. Better not to get dressed at all. It was such a stark contrast of the social experience of the genders, that it was almost endearing. Imagine reaching the age of 49 before worrying about how many clothes you’re allowed to take off. Imagine reaching the end of May before the sock-and-sandal question breaks into your consciousness. My experience of the timeline, conversely, is distilled in the phrase: are you beach body ready? In the 90s, it was delivered as a completely straightforward question to women and girls of every age, sometime in …

Prince William’s 10-word response as he breaks royal protocol to sign a boy’s cast | Royal | News

The face of a boy wearing a plaster cast lit up as Prince William bent down and penned his autograph on it today during a royal visit. The prince stepped onto the beach at Newquay as part of a two-day set of engagements in the Duchy of Cornwall. The Prince of Wales arrived in the south-west today (May 9) where he spent some time before his onward travels to the Isle of Scilly tomorrow. The two-day stint, away from Princess Kate who is recovering privately from cancer treatment, has been viewed as a positive move. Royal fans believe his time away from his family, especially an overnight stay away from home, can only mean Kate is in good hands and is making progress in her treatment. But despite the Waleses’ personal troubles, William made the day of a boy on the beach when he secretly took out a pen and began signing a plaster cast in Newquay. The cast, on what appears to the the child’s right hand, covered his hand. The prince quickly said: …

Michelle Williams debuted ‘French new-wave angel’ makeup at the Met Gala

The Met Gala is always a fantastic celeb-spotting event. We love to see who switches up their look, who keeps things natural and who is frankly, completely unrecognisable. The social channels are packed with our favourite looks but the one we couldn’t stop gushing over was from actress Michelle Williams.  Swapping her trademark blonde pixie crop for a pastel pink hue, Michelle looked like a pixie fairy on the Met’s green carpet, dressed in a voluminous white Chanel gown. © GettyMichelle wore a smoky eye and pink lip The Fabelmans actress routinely relies on her favourite makeup artist, Angela Levin to create her beauty look and the Met Ball was no exception.  Posting on Instagram, Angela went into detail about the inspiration behind Michelle’s look: “When I was thinking about my makeup inspiration for this years exciting Met Gala, I wanted to create something ethereal but with an edge, which represents Michelle at her core. What came to mind was an image of an angel in a French new wave era. And there it was, my …

Katt Williams Special Beats Tom Brady Roast in Netflix Rankings

Katt Williams Special Beats Tom Brady Roast in Netflix Rankings

Netflix‘s Roast of Tom Brady got loads of press coverage (including several stories on this very website), but a different live special from the streamer’s Netflix Is a Joke festival racked up more views over the weekend. Katt Williams: Woke Foke, which streamed live on Saturday, May 4, earned 4 million views (determined by total viewing time divided by running time) worldwide, according to Netflix’s internal measurement for April 29-May 5. That’s double the 2 million for the Brady roast, albeit with an extra day for users to watch as the roast streamed Sunday evening. The roast had more total viewing time at 6.2 million hours, to 4.1 million hours for Williams’ special — but it was also almost three times as long as Woke Foke. That both specials made the global top 10, however, is testament to Netflix’s growing capacity to host live events. The streamer’s first live stand-up special, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, finished outside the worldwide top 10 for its debut in March 2023 (when Netflix ranked shows by total time watched rather …
