‘Most Masculine Men Wear Skirts’

Dwayne Johnson is opening up about his decision to wear a skirt as part of his look for the 2026 Met Gala on Monday. The Moana actor made his debut at fashion‘s biggest night, wearing a custom all-black Thom Browne ensemble that featured a mohair tailcoat, white vest and a pleated skirt over trousers. He walked the carpet alongside his wife, Lauren Hashian, who was wearing a white halter-neck dress by the designer. When asked about his look by reporters, Johnson said it was in part inspired by his Polynesian culture, where “the most masculine men wear skirts.” “I feel great!” he replied. “First, [Thom Browne’s team] sent the illustrations over and [asked], ‘Hey, is DJ going to be cool with this pleated skirt?’ And I was like, ‘Look, in our culture, Polynesian culture, we rock lavalavas, we rock skirts.’ The most masculine men, not that I’m one of them, but the most masculine men wear lavalavas and skirts.” Dwayne Johnson at the 2026 Met Gala. Feathers have replaced fur – how to wear the trending trim of the season

Feathers have replaced fur – how to wear the trending trim of the season

The past two winters saw fur dominate wardrobes, flooding the high-street in the form of coats, stoles, hats and trims. While it is the obvious texture to go for during the colder months, the runways of autumn/winter 2026 are all showcasing a new statement finish: feathers. Appearing on everything from tailored coats to evening dresses and even shoes; they offer the same sense of movement and sense of luxury, but with a lighter, perhaps more playful feel. Luxury stylist Angela Kyte believes the shift reflects both cultural change and fashion’s natural evolution. “A lot of people are understandably moving away from fur,” she explains, despite most nowadays being faux on the runway, the connotations are still complex. “Designers still love that sense of drama and texture in a piece,” Kyte says, “feathers add glamour without feeling heavy or overly formal.” So how do you style the trend without looking over-the-top? Here are stylists’ top tips for wearing feathers. Start with subtle trims When it comes to feathers, and any extravagant trim for that matter, restraint …

Is it ever a good idea to… wear artificially distressed clothing?

Is it ever a good idea to… wear artificially distressed clothing?

JEAN-MICHEL TIXIER FOR M LE MAGAZINE DU MONDE With the fashion industry awash in fakes of all kinds – fake bags, fake leather, fake eyelashes, fake personas – it is hardly surprising to see the rise of fake vintage items, and the normalization of brand-new garments that display artificial wear and tear. Once reserved for jeans, this industrial patina is now applied to a wide range of items, much to the delight of fans of holey T-shirts, unraveling sweaters or patched-up sneakers. This trend addresses a straightforward dilemma. While the appeal of a beautiful vintage piece has won over an increasing number of buyers, finding the perfect item can be extremely demanding. In practice, discovering a garment worn by time and use, in just the right size, with the right color and even scent, requires energy, cultural know-how, luck and, above all, a type of patience that does not align with the tyranny of instant gratification. As a result, artificially aged clothing, available right off the …
