Stellantis’ “Leapmotor International” joint venture to launch soon

Stellantis’ “Leapmotor International” joint venture to launch soon

[ad_1] Approximately six months after taking a $1.6 billion stake in Chinese OEM Leapmotor, Stellantis is reportedly poised to officially launch a new joint venture between the two automakers to sell the former’s China-built EVs globally. The joint venture is expected to be announced very soon as Leapmotor International. The ongoing saga appears closer than ever to a solidified joint venture between China’s Leapmotor and Europe’s Stellantis ($STLA). The journey began last fall when Stellantis announced it had acquired an approximately 20% stake in Leapmotor in exchange for an investment of 1.5 billion euros ($1.6 billion). The investment also plans for a new joint venture with Leapmotor in which Stellantis owns a 51% stake. At the time, we reported the plan was to call the new joint venture with Leapmotor “Stellantis International,” in which the latter would help sell the former’s EVs in new markets outside of China, including Europe and possibly the US. By March 2024, the new partners announced their joint venture had been approved after Stellantis gained regulatory approval in China to …

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card vs. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card vs. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card

[ad_1] The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card* are two of the best travel credit cards. They both have a $95 annual fee and good welcome bonuses, but the reward structures and redemption methods differ considerably.  While the Venture Rewards card may be better for users who prefer simplicity — thanks to its flat rewards rate on purchases — most cardholders will be able to net more overall value from the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card due to its unique rewards and redemption structures. And while the Venture card may have some travel perks that look appealing on first glance — like Capital One Lounge access — there are some stipulations to consider. Comparing annual fees Winner: Tie Both the Venture and Sapphire Preferred have a $95 annual fee, so this is a clear tie. These cards are cheaper than “premium” cards with annual fees in the $500-$700 range, but $95 is still a significant chunk of change. You should expect better value than credit cards with no annual fee, and you’ll get it if …

From Connie Chan to Ethan Kurzweil, venture capitalists continue to play musical chairs

From Connie Chan to Ethan Kurzweil, venture capitalists continue to play musical chairs

[ad_1] When Keith Rabois announced he was leaving Founders Fund to return to Khosla Ventures in January, it came as a shock to many in the venture capital ecosystem — and not just because Rabois is a big name in the industry. It was surprising because unlike in many other fields, venture capitalists don’t traditionally move around very much — especially those that reach the partner or general partner level as Rabois had. VC funds have 10-year life cycles and partners have good reason to stay that course. In some instances, they may be a “key man” on a firm’s fund, meaning that if they leave, the fund’s LPs have the right to pull their capital out if they choose. Many partners and GPs also have some of their own money invested in their firms’ funds, which gives them further reason to stick around. So, while big-name investor moves in venture capital aren’t common, they seem to have become so in recent months. So far this year, there have been notable instances of investors returning …

London’s first defense tech hackathon brings Ukraine war closer to the city’s startups

London’s first defense tech hackathon brings Ukraine war closer to the city’s startups

[ad_1] Last week, the UK announced its largest ever military support package for Ukraine. The bill takes the U.K.’s total support for this financial year to £3 billion — not quite the $50 billion the US pledged recently, but still substantial. But while most of those funds will be spent on very traditional military hardware, a new tech initiative launched last weekend was aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s asymmetric warfare capabilities against Russia. In fact, the London Defense Tech Hackathon was the first-ever event to bring together some of the UK’s brightest minds in technology, venture capital, and national security in a military setting. The idea was to hack together ideas to both assist Ukraine and also to create a far more porous layer between the worlds of fast-paced civilian tech and the very different world of the military.  Put together by Alex Fitzgerald of Skyral and Richard Pass of Future Forces, the two were joined by co-organizers that included the Honourable Artillery Company,  Apollo Defense, Lambda Automata and D3 VC among others. The event brought together …
