Earlier in the summer, the Training Season singer married British actor Callum Turner at an intimate ceremony in London, before jetting off to Palermo for a more lavish celebration. Speaking to Vogue Italia, Dua recalled that hers and Callum’s reception was “such a beautiful celebration”. The Grammy winner also opened up about how friends of hers and Callum’s had given them “lots of advice” about how best to maximise, but there were “two suggestions that we really took on board”. “One was to show up at our wedding like we were guests ourselves, which meant we had the best time and we weren’t stressed at all,” she said. “The other was for Callum and me to keep checking in with each other so we didn’t lose each other in the crowd. As a result, we spent loads of time together and created so many amazing memories.” Elsewhere in the interview, she spoke …

How Ted Turner went from cinema’s “butcher” to its champion

How Ted Turner went from cinema’s “butcher” to its champion

In 1986, Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert dedicated a full episode of their syndicated series “At the Movies” to sounding the alarm about the industry’s fascination with colorizing black-and-white films. “Hollywood’s New Vandalism,” they called it, placing the blame for this creative abomination on two of the main companies leading the charge — and one man, Ted Turner. During the prior year, Turner had acquired the MGM studio’s library of more than 3,500 films for $1.25 billion, in a deal that made him the owner of cinematic gems like “Gone with the Wind,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Casablanca.” Two of those films were originally presented in color, including “Gone with the Wind,” which launched Turner Network Television in 1988. The third, “Casablanca,” was not. America’s foremost film critics ridiculed the colorized version of the 1942 film “Yankee Doodle Dandy” that Turner had recently broadcast on what was then known as SuperStation WTBS and warned that a colorized version of 1941’s “The Maltese Falcon” was on the way. That film’s director, John Huston, joined Jimmy …

The Headlines GAINING PACE. New York-based conceptual artist Anicka Yi has joined Pace, with the gallery representing her in partnership with Gladstone Gallery, 47 Canal, and Esther Schipper. Yi spoke to ARTnews about why artists must go beyond simply participating in conversations about new tech, developing new tools, and finding a gallery that understands her microbiology and algorithmic-based art language. In a warning about where new tech is currently heading, she shared her critique of current machine-learning AI models that draw on existing data, but have no ability for causal reasoning. This, said Yi, is a crucial flaw to energy-sucking, and intellectually limited AI models, that give an “illusion of intelligence.”  IN MEMORIAM. Tomb Raider: Sophie Turner and Alix Wilton Regan will rewrite history

Tomb Raider: Sophie Turner and Alix Wilton Regan will rewrite history

Since its 1996 debut, Tomb Raider has remained an iconic franchise, with protagonist Lara Croft jumping, shooting and plundering tombs for almost three decades. Tomb Raider is a series that’s been a constant presence in my career. There’s no greater example than having a book published about the first two games in 2021, along with a follow-up coming out later this year. 2026 marks the series’ 30th year, and Crystal Dynamics, the current custodians of Tomb Raider in gaming, have announced two new titles. The first, called Legacy of Atlantis, is a re-imagining of the first game, out later this year, while Catalyst is the latest all-new entry in the series, coming out in 2027. New Tomb Raider games usually feature a new voice actor for Lara, and Alix Wilton Regan was indeed announced as the latest to voice Croft. I suspected as much when I saw her interviewed on Radio Times Gaming’s TikTok channel. And with the Sophie Turner-starring Amazon series looming a little further on the horizon, there’s a clear theme being instilled …
