The 2024 White House Correspondents’ Dinner is Saturday night, with “Saturday Night Live” cast member Colin Jost at the helm of the star-studded D.C. event. The annual dinner, which celebrates the journalists who cover the presidential administration, has featured speeches from every president for the past hundred years, with the exception of Donald Trump. Salvini is pushing to launch the project by June, when European elections will be held that could make or break his leadership of the League.  The timing will be critical. As electoral support for the League shrinks, Salvini’s party colleagues are running out of patience. All 15 members of one local party association in Lombardy, a League heartland, resigned in protest last month.  “Salvini singlehandedly rewrote the party’s ideology to be nationalist,” said Daniele Albertazzi, professor of politics at the University of Surrey. “It is as if Catalonia autonomists wished to represent people from Madrid. Activists and voters were OK with this, only as long as he was successful.”  In February the party took just 3.7 percent in regional elections in Sardinia. League voters feel betrayed by the party’s forays in the previous legislature into two governments, which forced them to make compromises — for example supporting onerous pandemic rules.  The doubters have found their voice. WASHINGTON :The Biden administration on Tuesday released a detailed timeline for studying significant government-owned spectrum with the aim of helping to expand wireless and other technology uses. The Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), which in November announced steps to repurpose spectrum currently set aside for parts of the federal government, said it was setting detailed timelines for studying several spectrum bands including “the potential for repacking, compression and relocation of airborne radars and other federal systems in the Lower 3 GHz to allow for commercial use.”  The Lower 3 GHz study is expected to be completed by October 2026 as will a study on the 7/8 GHz spectrum band. “We must provide the spectrum access needed for federal agency missions while addressing the private sector’s need for greater spectrum access, which is required to maintain and improve our global competitiveness and sustain economic growth,” the implementation plan first reported by Reuters says.
