Slow Horses Writer Opens Up About 'Beautiful' Season 6 Death Scene

If you weren’t familiar with the Slough House books, which inspired Apple TV+’s award-winning spy series Slow Horses, then there may have been a big shock for you in the latest episode. Consider this a major spoiler warning, so if you’ve still not caught up on the latest instalment Slow Horses, give this page a bookmark and come back once you have. OK, let’s get into it. Jack Lowden and Gary Oldman in Slow Horses’ latest season As season six of Slow Horses passes its halfway point, many viewers were taken aback to see the death of JK Coe, who was played in the show by Tom Brooke. Coe died at the hands of another undercover agent in the grimmest of scenes – a service station bathroom. Still, despite the rather bleak setting, head writer Gaby Chiappe has admitted she’s happy with how the “beautiful” scene played out. Tom Brooke as Coe in his final episode of Slow Horses “That scene in the bathroom before they fight to the death, I find so moving and …

Slow Horses newcomer stars in exclusive first look for The Reluctant Vampire

BBC comedy series The Reluctant Vampire will be swooping in this weekend – and Radio Times has an exclusive first look at the series. The show, which is an adaptation of the book series of the same name by comedy legend Eric Morecambe and features BAFTA winner Lenny Rush as its lead, is coming to BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday (4 October). It follows Rush’s character Val, the youngest member of a vampire family who starts living a double life after finding out that he is, in fact, not actually a vampire. In the clip (which you can watch above), there’s a comical misunderstanding between Val, his friend Gertie (played by Ellie-May Sheridan) and villager John (played by Charlie Cooper). The cast also includes Sian Clifford and Tom Davis, who play Val’s vampire parents, Ross Noble and Bill Bailey as gargoyles, and Joe Wilkinson as Wilf the Werewolf. Lenny Rush as Val and Tom Davis as Victor in The Reluctant Vampire. BBC Rush rose to stardom after appearing in the Daisy May Cooper comedy drama …

Can We Really Learn to Slow Down Time?

Can We Really Learn to Slow Down Time?

Most of us go through life assuming that what we see around us is reality. That’s a table. There’s a tree. We hear words spoken to us. An hour passes on the clock we see. Our brain takes in all of this, and we experience it. Except, from the standpoint of neuroscience, that’s not really what’s happening. In fact, the brain doesn’t give us an unedited picture of the world. It filters a remarkable amount of information, picks out what it thinks matters, combines that with what we already know and expect, and gives us something closer to a working model of reality. Yikes! You mean there’s nothing “out there” to be perceived other than our own perceptions? Pretty much yes, in some sense, that’s a true statement, and it all starts with our senses. Human vision detects only a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Our hearing also has limits. Even with the things our senses can detect, most never get to our conscious awareness. The brain must be selective, otherwise we’d be overwhelmed …

Tesla’s new ‘Accordion’ Supercharger could speed up its slow buildout

Tesla’s new ‘Accordion’ Supercharger could speed up its slow buildout

Tesla deployed its first “Accordion” Supercharger, a pre-assembled charging unit that ships 16 stalls on a single truck and installs 20% cheaper than a conventional site. Tesla’s charging team says the goal is now to pre-assemble every Supercharger in a factory. It’s a smart move, and one the company badly needs after two years of slower deployment. What the Accordion Supercharger is The unit folds up like an accordion (hence the name), so one truck carries 16 V4 stalls at once. Tesla says it installs 20% cheaper than a conventional station, commissions instantly with no technician needed to energize it, and is built for sites where you can’t trench a cabinet behind a curb. It drops in between parking spaces instead. Our first Accordion Supercharger Our goal is to pre-assemble all Superchargers in a factory. If we can’t install Superchargers behind a curb, we now have a pre-assembled solution for Superchargers between parking spaces. 16 stalls per truck shipment, 20% cheaper to install,… pic.twitter.com/KlmczpLoPR — Tesla Charging (@TeslaCharging) September 15, 2026 “Our goal is to …

Slow Horses season 6 release schedule | When is episode 2 out?

Slow Horses season 6 release schedule | When is episode 2 out?

*Warning – contains spoilers for Slow Horses season 6 episode 1.* And we’re back. The sixth season of Slow Horses has kicked off with a bang, as the first episode has not only featured the deaths of multiple characters, but also the return of Hugo Weaving’s villainous Frank Harkness. It has started what season 6 director Adam Randall has described as a “darker” season than previous runs, when speaking exclusively with Radio Times. Randall said: “It’s still everything you hope for from Slow Horses. It’s still funny and full of character. I would say it’s definitely a darker season. It’s a heavier season. There’s a lot more threats, and there’s a lot more death – not to give anything away.” He continued: “It’s a chase movie, I guess, then there’s a complex spy story happening at the same time, and it’s how those two things connect. For every character, they’re all on the precipice of something dreadful. They’re all dealing with their demons. Things have gone wrong for most of them. They’ve all got really …

Slow Horses has 23 Emmy nominations but just 3 wins – why?

Slow Horses has 23 Emmy nominations but just 3 wins – why?

Apple TV had an incredible night at this year’s Emmy Awards. For the first time, the streamer finished as the most successful platform of the year, picking up 28 awards in total – comfortably ahead of its rivals. Widow’s Bay led the charge with a record-breaking 14 wins, including outstanding comedy series, while Matthew Rhys made history by winning two lead acting awards on the same night, for Widow’s Bay and Netflix thriller The Beast in Me. Pluribus, meanwhile, collected six awards, including a long-overdue first Emmy for Rhea Seehorn (infamously snubbed for her acclaimed work on Better Call Saul). But amid all that Apple dominance, one of the streamer’s most reliably brilliant series was mostly absent from the winners’ list. It came away with just one: Saul Metzstein’s richly deserved outstanding directing for a drama series win for season 5 finale Scars. That result is reflective of the show’s Emmy …

‘Slow Horses’ Star Gary Oldman Reveals That “Spies Love This Show”

‘Slow Horses’ Star Gary Oldman Reveals That “Spies Love This Show”

Also the funniest. One of Lamb’s greatest joys is to take the piss out of the so-called slow horses, the ragtag crew of MI5 misfits under his charge. In the show’s first season, when one of them accidentally kills a fellow agent while tumbling down the stairs, Lamb cracks, “If you meant to kill him, he’d still be alive.” It’s a classic Jackson Lamb retort. Yet behind the character’s contemptuous, world-weary exterior is a man who cares. “There’s a real loyalty to the slow horses and protecting them from that bureaucratic monster, which is MI5, MI6,” Oldman says. That bureaucratic monster is headquartered in a fictionalized Regent’s Park, where Kristin Scott Thomas’s Diana Taverner—Lady Di, as Lamb calls her—will finally lead as “first desk” this season. Taverner, with her plummy accent and cashmere wardrobe, is sometimes Lamb’s foil and sometimes his friend, depending on what she wants. Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb and Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner. Apple TV The government security service Taverner heads is driven by the Machiavellian ethos that the …

But some less expected variables – such as protecting your hearing and staying socially connected – matter too. According to a new paper published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia, meanwhile, two habits in midlife might significantly lower your odds of cognitive decline (sometimes seen as a precursor to dementia) in older age. Heart health seems to be key In this research, scientists assessed the heart health of 402 middle-aged and older adults using the American Heart Association’s Life’s Simple 7 measurements.  These include eating habits, body mass index (BMI), smoking status, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and blood sugar.  Sleep has since been added to this list, now called Life’s Essential 8. But because this wasn’t included when the study began, researchers didn’t measure it in …

Dario Amodei: ‘We Owe It to Humanity’ to Slow Down AI

Dario Amodei: ‘We Owe It to Humanity’ to Slow Down AI

Four days after a researcher publicly quit his job at Anthropic, warning that top AI firms are not “acting responsibly” and that their products might be on track to “kill us all,” the company’s CEO, Dario Amodei, seemed to basically agree. “We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models,” Amodei wrote in a 3,800-word essay that he published today on his personal website and posted to social media. By now, we’ve all become accustomed to AI industry figures issuing dire prophecies about the power of their products. Yet Amodei’s essay stands out for its urgency and for the moment at which it arrived. Worries about AI agents running amok have gone from hypothetical to real after OpenAI, Anthropic, and others reported alarming incidents in recent weeks. The question now is whether Amodei’s warning will have any more impact than past warnings, which is to say, any at all. There are reasons to believe it could. Amodei spelled out a three-step plan for what he called “pacing the frontier,” or …
