Allu Arjun and Sukumar’s Action Sequel

Allu Arjun and Sukumar’s Action Sequel

In the pantheon of contemporary Indian film protagonists, Pushpa stands tall. He starts out as a man on the margins — a daily wage laborer with a feminine name that means “flower” and a mountain-sized chip on his tilted shoulder. But Pushpa is so smart and so fearless that he soon ascends the ranks of a sandalwood smuggling operation to become head of the syndicate and godfather of the city of Chittoor. Pushpa 2: The Rule The Bottom Line Dazzling, thrilling and ultimately overwhelming. Release date: Thursday, Dec. 5Cast: Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Dhanunjay, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Ajay GhoshDirector-screenwriter: Bandreddi Sukumar 3 hours 20 minutes However, power and money don’t fuel Pushpa. More than anything, he wants respect and legitimacy, which have been denied to him since childhood because his father never legally married his mother. Pushpa might seem as invincible as a Marvel superhero. But like Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar, who has “mera baap chor hai” (“my father is a thief”) tattooed on his arm, Pushpa is also permanently scarred. It’s a potent …

It’s time to prepare for the Trump sequel

It’s time to prepare for the Trump sequel

I hate sequels. Godfather II was OK, but most other sequels suck. I guarantee you the Trump sequel won’t be anywhere near as entertaining as Godfather II, though the body count promises to be much higher. But don’t count me among the teary-eyed hand-wringers who wonder how the country I love so much has been flushed down the toilet. We got flushed when the Supreme Court gave presidents full immunity for “official” actions only the justices on the court can sanction. Pro tip: Don’t expect Joe Biden to take advantage of this tool, which may be the ultimate power in the U.S. political universe. The Star Chamber of the Supreme Court won’t side with him in any case. Darth Vader Trump, on the other hand, will get a free pass. Trump, who now effectively owns the Senate, will get every criminal he wants approved and appointed to important posts in the government. So, we are left facing another round of Trump insanity at the White House, brought to us by the same people who voted …

‘I’ve made a whole record about her’: Lady Gaga still thinking about Harley Quinn at Joker sequel premiere | Ents & Arts News

Lady Gaga has admitted she has struggled to let go of playing her version of the infamous comic book character Harley Quinn in the new Joker sequel. Speaking to Sky News at the UK premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux, she admitted: “I don’t really know if I did because I’ve made a whole record about her.” As cinemagoers prepare to see the Oscar-winning actress star as the “true love” to Joaquin Phoenix‘s Joker, the Poker Face singer announced she’s releasing a 13-song companion album to the film. “I think the whole experience inspired me through and through,” Lady Gaga admitted. “It was so amazing to get to know this character through music, through the script, through dance, through all this tremendous collaboration.” After 2019’s Joker won two Oscars and made over $1bn worldwide at the box office, filmmaker Todd Phillips and his leading man set out – in reprising the troubled dual personality of Arthur Fleck/Joker – to take a different approach. One of the most beloved Pixar films in the studio’s history is getting a sequel, with Inside Out 2 hitting cinemas this weekend. The new movie takes us back into the mind of a now 13-year-old Riley and the mission control centre of emotions inside her head. However, this time around, there’s a whole host of new feelings added into the mix, thanks to the help of a stellar expanded cast, including The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri as Envy, Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke as Anxiety and Passages’ Adèle Exarchopoulos as Ennui. The first reviews for Inside Out 2 have been hugely positive, praising the sequel for living up to the magic of the first film. That being said, others have said that it’s missing a certain spark that made the original so popular. Here’s a sample of what critics have had to say so far… “Inside Out 2 glimmers with diamond-hard truths about the complex business of being a human being – especially a teenage human being – but it’s still a fast-paced and playful comedy …

Colm Tóibín’s ‘Long Island’ sequel to ‘Brooklyn’

Colm Tóibín’s ‘Long Island’ sequel to ‘Brooklyn’

Sometimes a literary character’s hold on its author (and readers!) is too strong to ignore. While many sequels feel like attempts to milk a cash cow, others, like Elizabeth Strout’s Olive Kitteridge novels, bring fresh delight. Long Island, Colm Tóibín’s heartrending follow-up to his beloved 2009 novel, Brooklyn, is the rare instance in which a sequel is every bit as good as the original. Brooklyn, which was further popularized by the eponymous 2015 movie starring Saoirse Ronan, concerns a young Irish immigrant torn between her new home and her old one in the 1950s. Eilis Lacey, recently sent to America by her family for better prospects, returns to Enniscorthy in County Wexford, her hometown and Tóibín’s, for the funeral of her beloved older sister. Her mother, alone now that Rose is dead, doesn’t want Eilis to leave. But Eilis can’t bring herself to tell her — or anyone, including the man with whom she strikes up a romance — that she’s married to an Italian-American plumber she met at a dance in Brooklyn. Long Island …
