He struck a softer tone than usual in the first part of his speech, recounting his experience of the attempt on his life, before moving on to his agenda should he win office, including the largest deportation project in US history. In one of his most bizarre interviews in recent memory, Donald Trump insisted abortion is “not that big of an issue,” claimed Republicans are the “party of fertilisation” and said every legal scholar in the world supported overturning Roe v. Wade. During an interview last week with a local Michigan TV station FOX-2 Detroit, Trump repeatedly downplayed the significance of abortion rights on the national stage ― despite it being a driving factor in Democrats’ strong performance at the ballot box in the aftermath of the Supreme Court striking down Roe v. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) became the latest Republican to hit Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) over her plan to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).  “She needs her time in the spotlight, you know, and it’s been a while, and I think it’s one last ditch effort to get attention, is what she’s looking for,” Crenshaw told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto during his Saturday appearance on the network.  Crenshaw said there is not “a lot” of support for Greene’s plan to remove Johnson and that a “strong majority” would vote to table her motion-to-vacate she introduced in March. “It’s based in what exactly — that Mike Johnson brought bills to the floor that were necessary for national security that the vast majority of members wanted to vote on?” Crenshaw said. “So allowing the democratic process to move forward. A county Republican group in Colorado said that it was cancelling a fundraiser featuring South Dakota governor and potential Republican vice presidential contender Kristi Noem after she reportedly described killing her young dog in her forthcoming book. Jefferson County Republican Party Chair Nancy Pallozzi said in a statement Friday that the group’s fundraising dinner, which was set to take place Saturday, was being cancelled “due to safety concerns” after the group, the governor and her staff, and the hotel hosting the event received “numerous threats and/or death threats.” “After a conversation with the Governor’s office late Wednesday, we mutually decided that safety was the most important concern for everyone involved,” Pallozzi said. “The Denver West Marriott also received alarming comments and shared with us their deep concern over the safety and security for those attending our event, other guests, and their staff.” Noem was confirmed to be a keynote speaker at the Jefferson County Republicans’ annual fundraiser in early April after the group sent her an invitation in January, Pallozzi said.
