Gregg Wallace faces new claims of ‘groping’ as BBC pulls MasterChef Christmas specials | UK News

Two women have claimed Gregg Wallace inappropriately touched them – as yet more allegations surface against the MasterChef presenter. It comes as the BBC said it was pulling the MasterChef Christmas specials due to “current circumstances”. Wallace, 60, now faces claims from more than a dozen people across a range of shows over a 17-year period. He has temporarily stepped down from the cooking show while the complaints are externally reviewed. Wallace’s lawyers say “it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature”. On Tuesday, the BBC reported claims Wallace touched and “groped” a woman’s bottom, while another alleged he laughed after touching her bottom “with his waist and penis” when brushing past her. A third woman said Wallace’s penis was partially exposed in his dressing room in what she felt was a “power play”. The Guardian also reported a complaint that Wallace had asked a sign language interpreter to translate “big boobs” and “sexy bum” in front of the audience at the BBC Good Food Show. Sky News has …

Teacher Development Trust pulls out as lead provider

More from this theme Recent articles One of the government’s lead providers of national professional qualifications (NPQs) will quit the scheme – claiming its ability to support schools “as effectively and impartially as possible” has been “constrained” by relying on taxpayer cash. Teacher Development Trust (TDT) joint-CEO Gareth Conyard announced the decision, branding the NPQ market “increasingly dysfunctional”, with “unequal relationships” forming between providers and the Department for Education. Schools Week revealed this year that ministers were scaling back their free NPQ programme. Officials were tight-lipped about how many places they would provide, but it’s understood they were capped at just 10,000, down from 40,000 in 2023-24. Calls for review of NPQs TDT has also announced the withdrawal of its bid to deliver the Early Career Framework (ECF), a procurement the government is still considering. Conyard said: “We have felt, increasingly, that by delivering government contracts we have been constrained in our ability to respond to the latest evidence in a nuanced way, and to be a critical friend to the government and others in …

AstraZeneca Pulls COVID Vaccine After Admitting Rare Side Effect

In yet another damning development for the ‘safe and effective’ crowd, AstraZeneca has announced the worldwide withdrawal of its Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, branded as Vaxzevria, due to a rare but serious side effect. This decision marks the end of the vaccine once hailed as a “triumph for British science” by Boris Johnson and credited with saving over six million lives, The Telegraph reports.  The vaccine has been credited with saving millions of lives Credit: GETTY IMAGES EUROPE/MATTHEW HORWOOD The pharmaceutical giant voluntarily withdrew its “marketing authorization” in the European Union earlier this week, with similar actions expected soon in the UK and other approving countries. The move, described by the company as driven by “commercial reasons,” coincides with the availability of newer vaccines designed to combat emerging variants. That said, the timing of the withdrawal follows months of intense scrutiny over a rare side effect. In a recent High Court document, the company admitted that Vaxzevria could, in very rare instances, cause Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS), which has been linked to at least 81 deaths …

AstraZeneca pulls Covid vaccine after admitting potentially deadly rare side effect | UK | News

The Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine is set to be withdrawn after the pharmaceutical giant admitted it can cause a rare and potentially dangerous side effect. The company has voluntarily withdrawn its “market authorisation” in the European Union, a move which came into force on Tuesday. According to The Telegraph, similar applications will be made in the coming months in the UK and other countries that have approved the jab. The vaccine was championed by the-then Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a “triumph for British science”, being credited with saving more than six milion lives. AstraZeneca said the vaccine – which is known as Vaxzevria – was no longer being manufactured or supplied and has since been superseded by updated vaccines that tackle new Covid variants. The firm said it was therefore a “commercial reason” to withdraw its use. Vaxzevria has come under fire in recent months over a rare side effect that causes blood clots and low blood platelet counts. A High Court document in February from AstraZeneca revealed the vaccine “can, in very rare cases, …

Graeme McCormick has pulled out of the race to become SNP leader and instead endorsed rival John Swinney as Scotland’s next first minister. Mr Yousaf said he was resigning last week after he decided to end the power-sharing agreement with the Scottish Green Party. In a statement shared with Sky News, Mr McCormick, a party activist, said he had had a “lengthy and fruitful conversation” with Mr Swinney, adding that he had “met the threshold set by the party rules”.
