TabaPay has abandoned its plans to purchase the assets of troubled banking-as-a-service startup Synapse, TabaPay confirmed to TechCrunch today. Synapse says the problem is banking partner Evolve Bank & Trust. And Evolve says it is not involved, and not to blame. Meanwhile, another player in the saga, Mercury, says Synapse’s allegations have “no merit.” Synapse’s counsel declared in bankruptcy court on Thursday that the deal would not be moving forward, Fintech Business Weekly’s Jason Mikula shared on LinkedIn. A spokesperson for TabaPay confirmed to TechCrunch on Thursday afternoon that the company had “pulled out,” adding that TabaPay had sent “termination notice of the purchase agreement this morning based on failure to meet the purchase agreement closing conditions.” Synapse CEO and co-founder Sankaet Pathak, however, believes that TabaPay can still be convinced to stay in the deal. FIFA has been warned of a threatened mass revolt and legal action by the world’s footballers and leagues over its new men’s Club World Cup amid welfare concerns. A letter has been sent by global players’ union FIFPRO and the World Leagues Association to FIFA president Gianni Infantino demanding the 32-team competition is not played as planned in June and July next year. Chelsea and Manchester City have qualified for the event, lined up for the United States as part of Mr Infantino’s expansion of FIFA competitions. The union fears this has congested the calendar and endangered the health of players. The leagues and players’ union claims FIFA is being “inherently abusive” in adding games and urges Mr Infantino to use a council meeting next week to back down from its plans. Bungie has launched three new PvP Crucible maps for Destiny 2 as part of the Into the Light update, a free content offering that began in April. The maps are currently available to play as part of a 3v3 playlist called New Territory. In their April developer livestream, Bungie mentioned that they engaged with fans and community members to consult on map design. Riot Games has launched its anti-cheat software Vanguard to an overwhelmingly negative response, including players claiming that it is bricking their PCs. Vanguard is Riot’s custom anti-cheat software, designed to ensure competitive League of Legends is free of cheating. It consists of a client that runs alongside League of Legends and a kernel mode driver. Riot is in the habit of using the League of Legends subreddit to collect bug reports from players as well as respond to questions and issues. Currently, the thread for reporting bugs introduced by patch 14.9 (which added Vanguard) has over 1,100 comments from frustrated League fans.
