Pictures of the Protests In Paris, France,, October 17, 2026

On October 17, 2026, an ongoing protest in France and Italy against income inequality, the high cost of living, and cuts to public services pivoted from a peaceful mobilization of high school and college students to a series of violent demonstrations during which hundreds were injured and many more were arrested. Vandalism and looting swept European cities, including Paris, Milan, Turin, Bologna, and Limoges—where the city hall was burned to the ground. “Those who destroyed property must pay, those who looted must reimburse, and those who sought to bring down the Republic will be held accountable,” French president Emmanuel Macron said in a national address Sunday evening. “Watching these images, we all asked ourselves: What are they thinking? How can French people do this to France? Why burn down the Limoges city hall, the tourist office in Lyon, storm the Marseille city hall, or attack the prefect’s residence in Bordeaux? How could they have gone this far? Nothing justifies it, nothing explains it. Nothing excuses it.” Odieux Boby, a photojournalist whose work includes coverage of …

At Paris Fashion Week, Designers at Saint Laurent, Dior, Chanel and More Contend with their Legacies

At Paris Fashion Week, Designers at Saint Laurent, Dior, Chanel and More Contend with their Legacies

Stone turned up at the Mugler show last weekend dressed like the late Manfred Thierry Mugler, working with the house on the stunt and with the blessing of Mugler’s partner. Stone wore a look drawn from Mugler’s personal wardrobe, including one of his brooches. Per usual, it was impeccably achieved. And yet the appearance landed as somewhat misguided. Mugler is a house built partially on provocation, but Mugler, the man, died only a few years ago. Stone arriving with a black veil draped over his head to execute a “reveal” in front of a group of photographers cheapened the feat, and, despite the performance being billed as a homage, it rather felt like an attempt from the brand to hold on to the Mugler legacy by physically inviting him into the space and by too-closely referencing some of his greatest hits. There has to be a better way for Mugler, the house, to preserve its ties with Mugler, the man. At Dior, Jonathan Anderson is underway with his own ambitious renovation of one of fashion’s …

5 Stylish Swerves to Steal Straight From the Paris Runways

5 Stylish Swerves to Steal Straight From the Paris Runways

The last champagne has been popped, the folding chairs have been restacked, the legion of runway models have gone back into cryogenic storage (or whatever they do between October and January), and Fashion Month is over for another season. Following a flurry of shows in New York, London, and Milan (tl;dr—quiet luxury is out, buttcracks are in, PETA is protesting sweaters now), the festivities came to a climax in Paris with presentations by heavy hitters like Chanel, Tom Ford, Balenciaga, and Valentino. As ever, production values were high, celebrity cameos were abundant, and the world’s top designers continued to offer a wealth of inspiration. Here are the moves most likely to make it into our spring-summer wardrobes. Belts Where They Shouldn’t Be It’d be easy to pin the preponderance of weirdly low belts we saw in Paris on the second-coming of low-rise pants, but that doesn’t seem to be entirely the case. While Valentino, Balenciaga, and Tom Ford all featured slender belts worn well below hip level, Celine and Miu Miu went in the opposite …

Heidi Klum and Lou Samuel, the Mother-Daughter Duo, Flaunt at Paris Fashion Week

Heidi Klum and Lou Samuel, the Mother-Daughter Duo, Flaunt at Paris Fashion Week

It’s a big week for the 16-year-old Lou Samuel, who made her debut at Paris Fashion Week. She did so alongside her mother, Heidi Klum. As you might expect, they sported impeccable outfits. Here’s Samuel’s first fit, which she wore to attend the Vivienne Westwood spring/summer 2027 fashion show. Lou Samuel and Heidi Klum at the Vivienne Westwood Womenswear Spring/Summer 2027 show. Marc Piasecki The duo was in sync with peplum details. The former Victoria’s Secret Angel opted for a monochromatic look: a white maxi skirt paired with a blazer featuring a shawl collar. Her daughter’s outfit was more imaginative: a printed denim ensemble with a vest, an asymmetrical miniskirt, and eye-catching burgundy platform pumps that featured a vibrant floral print. But this was just the first taste, as the mother-daughter pair raised the bar that evening for the BoF 500 Gala at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris. This time, Samuel opted for white, sporting a silk satin mini-dress with a boat neckline and a layered skirt. She paired it with black Louboutin heels. Source …

Daniel Roseberry adds ‘aerodynamic‘ edge to Schiaparelli’s surrealist glamour at Paris show

Daniel Roseberry adds ‘aerodynamic‘ edge to Schiaparelli’s surrealist glamour at Paris show

In a world of mega brands, the house of Schiaparelli is small but perfectly formed. There are only 10 points of sale worldwide where Schiaparelli clothes can be bought. The size of the business has risen from $6m in 2020 to around $100m today, but Schiaparelli is still small fry compared with other names on the Paris catwalks. However, the Schiaparelli name punches above its weight. An exhibition at London’s V&A museum this year made a strong case for its founder, Elsa Schiaparelli, who collaborated with Salvador Dali and Jean Cocteau, as a creative force in the surrealism movement of the 1930s. Kylie Jenner caused a stir with Schiaparelli’s hyper-realistic fake lion’s head. Justin Vivian Bond, ‘Neverman’ and ‘Madame Stanley’ Star, Talks Paris, NYC, and Love

Justin Vivian Bond, ‘Neverman’ and ‘Madame Stanley’ Star, Talks Paris, NYC, and Love

How did you find a place? I was freaking out because I didn’t know where I was going to live, and had already put up a smoke signal to my dead mother. Like, “Mom, I need your help.” And then I went to [an art gala], where I ran into these two guys I know who said, take ours. That is lucky. I guess you struggle otherwise. I mean, I saw Madame Stanley and heard the dating stories. I don’t have struggling dating stories. Are you kidding me? I don’t date. Okay, something more casual. But you talk about getting the clap. That’s part of the quirk. Is it? I mean, it’s not like something that damages you. You just have to take some pills and get rid of it. It wasn’t traumatic. Trauma is when your boyfriend gives you the clap. Why are you not dating? I have had two beautiful long term relationships in my life. Each of them was about seven or eight years. One of them is in my band, who’s …

Paris Fashion Week SS27: Best dressed guests

Paris Fashion Week SS27: Best dressed guests

Oh, what a killer month September is for fashion! We were treated to New York kicking off proceedings, swiftly followed by London – which had a bumper season of 5 jam packed days of shows. Milan followed – Fendi! Prada! We’re still thinking about all those incredible skirts. And now Paris swoops in to round out Fashion Month, with shows kicking off from 28 September and some seriously big shows on the menu.  Dior will always draw a star-studded crowd, likewise Chanel which is causing quite a stir under Matthiew Blazy’s leadership. Victoria Beckham retains its suitably sexy slot on Friday night, while Louis Vuitton will mark the end of Paris Fashion Week SS27 on Tuesday 6 October. And of course, we’re here for what’s on the runway, but we’re also just as invested in the looks strutting up and down the streets (or rues) of the City of Light too…. For a ‘measured diplomatic figure’, Pope Leo’s visit to France has been ‘deeply political’

For a ‘measured diplomatic figure’, Pope Leo’s visit to France has been ‘deeply political’

Erin Ogunkeye is pleased to welcome Colleen Dulle, Vatican correspondent for America magazine and author of “Struck Down, Not Destroyed”. She came to Pope Leo’s visit to France expecting measured diplomacy but was struck by how deeply political the trip became. She observed a pope trying to articulate a vision of Europe shaped simultaneously by its Christian inheritance, its history of conflict, its encounter with other cultures, and its responsibility to pursue peace. His choice of Metz itself was significant. For Leo, this is a place where historic enemies transformed their relationship through reconciliation and cooperation, making Europe itself part of his message. Keywords for this article Source link
