Nicholas Prosper: Teen who murdered family ‘planned on killing at least 30 schoolchildren’ | UK News

[ad_1] A teenager who murdered his family and wanted to be the worst mass killer the UK has seen had 33 cartridges on him to carry out an attack on his former school, a court has heard. Nicholas Prosper shot his mother Juliana Falcon, 48, sister Giselle, 13, and shot and stabbed his brother Kyle, 16, at their family home in Luton on 13 September last year. But the 19-year-old did not plan on stopping there, according to prosecutor Timothy Cray KC, who told Luton Crown Court he had prepared the murders “for months” and wanted to kill at least 30 schoolchildren. “His planning was cold, deliberate and without sympathy or emotion towards the actual victims or potential victims,” Mr Cray said, speaking at Prosper’s sentencing. His “main wish”, however, was to “achieve lasting notoriety as a mass killer”, Mr Cray added, specifically to “imitate and even surpass other mass killers around the world”. “He had conducted in-depth internet research on shootings in the United States of America, Norway, Australia and New Zealand,” he said. …

Henrietta Szold & the Return to Zion | Nicholas Lemann

[ad_1] Last year the Tel Aviv Museum of Art mounted an exhibition, entitled “Shattered Hopes and Roads Not Taken,” of a dozen monumental drawings by the Israeli artist Netta Lieber Sheffer, who lives and works in Tel Aviv. The drawings are an expression of a wish on the Jewish left that history had not made Israel the prosperous, powerful, ethnically restricted, violence-plagued, and widely despised state that it is today. Could there have been another, more peaceful, more inclusive way of establishing a substantial Jewish presence in the Holy Land? One of the drawings showed a group of Jews in a modest wooden boat: members of Brit Shalom, an organization founded in 1925 that advocated for peaceful relations between Jews and Arabs and for the creation of a binational state in Palestine (see illustration on page 37). Among them was Henrietta Szold, the founder of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America. Though she is not widely remembered today, in her lifetime Szold was, perhaps along with Louis Brandeis, the most famous American Zionist. She …

Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks

[ad_1] A Journey of the Heart in Small-Town America You know that feeling when you curl up with a Nicholas Sparks novel, a warm cup of tea in hand, ready to be swept away into a world of love, heartbreak, and redemption? Well, folks, get ready to experience all those emotions and more with his latest offering, “Counting Miracles.” This book… oh boy, where do I even begin? It’s like Sparks took everything we love about his previous works—the tender romance, the complex family dynamics, the picturesque small-town setting—and cranked it up to eleven. Set in the charming town of Asheboro, North Carolina (because, let’s face it, Sparks and the Tar Heel State go together like peanut butter and jelly), “Counting Miracles” weaves together the stories of three seemingly unconnected characters whose paths intersect in ways that’ll make you believe in, well, miracles. The Characters: A Tapestry of Love and Loss Tanner Hughes: The Wandering Soul First up, we’ve got Tanner Hughes, our ruggedly handsome protagonist with a classic Sparksian backstory. Raised by his grandparents …

Nicholas Galitzine Admits Feeling ‘Like A Cut Of Beef’ Since Rise To Fame

[ad_1] Nicholas Galitzine is definitely the man of the moment right now, but the British star has opened up about the toll his new-found fame has taken on him. The actor has been on the rise in recent years thanks to his roles in Red, White & Royal Blue, Mary & George, Bottoms and, most recently, The Idea Of You with Anne Hathaway. His various romantic roles have quickly landed Nicholas heartthrob status, but he’s admitted he’s not always found it easy to be seen as such. “I think the most important thing to me is that I’m taken seriously as a performer,” he shared in a recent interview with GQ Hype. “I’m not gonna ask you to cry me a river here, but it’s been difficult being part of a conversation that feels very much like I am a cut of beef at a meat market,” he said of the overly objectifying attitude that can pervade his work and personal life. “I think that being my defining feature is something I’m constantly terrified of.” …

Nicholas Galitzine Says He Feels ‘Guilt’ For Portraying Multiple Queer Characters

[ad_1] After rising to fame by playing queer characters in the rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue and the drama miniseries Mary & George, Nicholas Galitzine is clearing the air about his own sexuality. “I identify as a straight man,” Nicholas said in a new British GQ interview published on Wednesday. “But I have been a part of some incredible queer stories.” The British actor admitted he felt torn about taking on so many LGBTQ+ roles because of his heterosexuality. “I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt,” he explained. “At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality.” Nicholas with co-star Taylor Zakhar Perez in Red, White And Royal Blue Jonathan Prime/Prime Video The Idea of You star went on to clarify that the characters he plays on screen are totally separate from who he is off the clock, adding: “I am Nick, and I’m not my role.” Speaking with HuffPost UK, the English actor explained the “plethora of reasons” why …

Nicholas Galitzine on Not Engaging With the ‘Toxic Parts of Hollywood’

[ad_1] Nicholas Galitzine is opening up about how he manages the extra attention that comes with his more recent rise in fame. The actor, who has found stardom in recent years with his roles in 2022’s Purple Hearts, 2023’s Red, White & Royal Blue and now, Prime Video’s The Idea of You, told IndieWire that it’s “all about setting boundaries.” “I have my non-negotiables, my family, my loved ones, my friends. I always try and carve out time for them,” he explained. “I’m not really engaged with the more toxic parts of Hollywood that I think do exist out there. And none of my friends who are in the industry are as well.” The Bottoms actor added that he tries to focus on why he wanted to become an actor initially, noting that he loves “the job for what it is, which is a creative endeavor.” “Then otherwise, my life is just incredibly normal, and I have my things that I like doing,” he said. “I like walking around. I like exploring. I love nature. …

I’m a romcom fan and Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine’s The Idea Of you ticks almost every box

[ad_1] The romcom is back – and this time, it’s for the 40-something woman who is realizing that life isn’t over just because you’ve hit a certain age. That’s the premise for Anne Hathaway’s new film The Idea Of You, out on Prime on May 2, a film which puts the focus on female pleasure – and the myriad ways society still tries to shame women for having it and wanting it.  Based on Robinne Lee’s pandemic success novel of the same name, The Idea Of You follows art gallery owner Solene Marchand (Anne Hathaway) as she falls in love with 24-year-old international pop star Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), comes to terms with the implications of their relationship, and shows the at-times devastating decisions that women have to make because we can’t always have it all.  You may also likeWatch The Idea Of You trailer Solene is a divorced mom-of-one whose ex-husband Daniel — now dating a much younger woman — is taking their daughter Izzy to Coachella with VIP passes and meet-and-greet access to August Moon, a …
