Piers Morgan criticises Ed Sheeran’s tearful concert apology: ‘He needs better advisors’

Piers Morgan criticises Ed Sheeran’s tearful concert apology: ‘He needs better advisors’

Piers Morgan has hit out at Ed Sheeran for “bowing to the mob” during his Philadelphia concert after the singer tearfully addressed the controversy around Macklemore’s removal from his tour. On Saturday, the British singer-songwriter took to the stage for the first time since Macklemore announced that he had been fired from Sheeran’s Loop tour over his pro-Palestine comments at an earlier gig. The rapper claimed that Robert Kraft – the CEO of Kraft Group who owns Gillette Stadium – personally called Sheeran to say he would not be allowed to perform at the venue, while Sheeran later responded by stating he would not be drawn into a public debate about the Gaza war and that it was “the promoter’s decision” to remove Macklemore. After all of Sheeran’s remaining support acts withdrew from the tour earlier in the week, the singer appeared to read from an autocue as he apologised to his fans at last night’s concert. “I’ve had to take and make difficult decisions, and I am making mistakes. I’m so, so sorry. I …

Robin Morgan, poet and feminist allied with Gloria Steinem, dies at 85

NEW YORK — Robin Morgan, a wholesome child star of the 1940s and ‘50s who grew up to become an all-American radical as a poet, essayist, editor and second-wave feminist, has died. She was 85. Morgan, who was still working on new books and poems, died Saturday in New York after suffering a series of health problems in recent weeks, said her son, Blake Morgan. Her death came just days after that of her close friend and fellow activist Gloria Steinem. During the 1960s and ’70s, Morgan embodied and inspired historic changes in how women lived and thought. As she was happy to point out, the onetime “Ideal American Girl” and adored “Little Robin Morgan” was a rule breaker and justice seeker with a notable list of achievements, along with a prison record and an FBI file. Morgan was at the center of some of the defining moments of what came to be called second-wave feminism, expanding upon the achievements of the suffragists a half-century earlier. In 1968, she was among the organizers of the first protest …

Jaye P. Morgan dead: Entertainer, pop and TV star was 94

NEW YORK — Jaye P. Morgan, one of the top female recording artists of the 1950s with five hits in 1955 alone who later became a frequent talk show guest and game show panelist, infamously taking off her shirt on “The Gong Show,” has died. She was 94. Morgan died Monday of natural causes in Longview, Wash., said Mark Sendroff, longtime attorney and friend. She had been living with her nephew and niece, Duke Morgan Spencer and Peggy Sue Spencer. Morgan’s Top 10 hits were “That’s All I Want From You” and “The Longest Walk.” Her Top 20 hits were “Danger! Heartbreak Ahead,” “If You Don’t Want My Love” and “Pepper-Hot Baby.” She also had two Top 20 hits with Perry Como, “Chee Chee-Oo Chee (Sang the Little Bird)” and “Two Lost Souls,” and a hit with Eddy Arnold called “Mutual Admiration Society” that reached No. 47 on the Billboard singles chart. Later she became a regular guest on “The Tonight Show” and appeared with Merv Griffin, Dick Cavett and Mike Douglas, as well as spots on …

Morgan Wallen’s Year-Old ‘I’m The Problem’ Back Atop Billboard Chart

Morgan Wallen‘s I’m the Problem is back on top of Billboard‘s albums chart, the publication reported on Sunday, more than a year after the country star first released the project in May 2025, and over seven months since the album last reached number one back in January. I’m the Problem managed to best both Olivia Rodrigo‘s eight-week-old You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love and Charli XCX‘s brand new Music, Fashion, Film in one of the tightest chart races of the year so far. Wallen earned 80,000 units this week, while Rodrigo’s LP, which topped the charts for two weeks this summer, came in with just under 80,000 units. Charli’s Brat follow-up, meanwhile, opened with 78,000 units. While I’m the Problem hasn’t hit No. 1 since January, it’s been a chart monster overall, staying in the top 10 since its release over a year ago. It’s one of two top 10 albums for Wallen, with his 2023 album One Thing at a Time clocking in at seven this week. I’m the Problem …

Morgan Freeman Is Producing a Blues Album

Morgan Freeman can add record producer to his long list of accolades across his six-decade career, as the iconic actor is partnering with a collection of celebrated blues musicians to deliver a 12-song album that documents 100 years of the blues. Freeman is both the producer and narrator on the project, titled Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience. The album will release Aug. 7 through Decca Records. “Rooted in stories carried from West Africa to the American South, the blues became a testament to the unbroken human spirit, the sound of America’s past and present, and the heartbeat of a culture that refused to be forgotten,” Freeman said in a statement. The actor tapped a mixture of legendary and more contemporary blues musicians for the project, including Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’ and Shemekia Copeland. The album starts with Blind Willie Johnson’s famed “Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground” and covers the whole history of the blues’ evolution from the Mississippi Delta region and beyond, with covers of songs like “The Thrill Is Gone” and …

Tracy Morgan, ‘30 Rock’ Pals on Teaming for ‘Reggie Dinkins’

Tracy Morgan, ‘30 Rock’ Pals on Teaming for ‘Reggie Dinkins’

Toward the end of filming The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, the cast and crew decided to surprise Tracy Morgan for his 57th birthday. As No. 1 on the call sheet, Morgan had been particularly generous to his co-stars, and his co-stars wanted to return the favor. So, they treated Morgan to a live mariachi band playing his favorite song. “You haven’t lived until you’ve heard a mariachi band from New York play ‘Super Freak’ on a studio floor,” says his co-star Erika Alexander. The NBC mockumentary is the brainchild of 30 Rock creator Robert Carlock, his longtime collaborator Sam Means and executive producer Tina Fey, but Dinkins has been Morgan’s show from the beginning. In 2024, the Saturday Night Live alum was in the middle of his Neighborhood spinoff Crutch, but the looming acquisition of CBS by Larry Ellison’s Skydance Media had the comedian and his team looking elsewhere for projects. He put in a call to his old 30 Rock team and let them know he was going to have time in …

Comedian Diane Morgan says cheese now ‘smells like socks’ after vegan switch

Comedian Diane Morgan says cheese now ‘smells like socks’ after vegan switch

Comedian Diane Morgan, known for her distinctive deadpan humour, has revealed a surprising personal transformation, embracing a vegan lifestyle that has even altered her perception of cheese – a former culinary love now described as smelling “like socks”. The 50-year-old, currently starring in Last One Laughing on Prime Video, made the switch last January. While she was “never a big milk drinker anyway”, preferring oat milk, cheese proved a significant hurdle. “I couldn’t find a decent vegan cheese that I liked – it all tasted like glue sticks – so I just went cold turkey on it,” she explained. The shift in perception was stark: “Then, after four weeks, my brain just went, ‘Oh, I don’t like cheese anymore, it smells like socks’. So now I don’t crave it at all.” Morgan, who resides in central London, advocates for everyone to “go vegan”, citing her deep affection for animals and extensive work with animal charities. “I just love animals and I do a lot of work for animal charities, and consequently you see videos of …

Add LOL: Last One Laughing UK to your watchlist You’ve always kept a straight face as the deadpan Philomena Cunk. Did you draw on that experience? Yeah, I thought, “Look, I’ve had loads of training here.” It’s not just when you’re talking to the experts where you have to keep a straight face, it’s for the whole  shoot, whatever happens. So I went in there thinking, “This is going to be easy.” But it wasn’t! What makes you laugh the most in real life? People falling over and hurting themselves. There’s nothing funnier than that. Have you ever done a gig where no one laughed? I did stand-up for nearly 10 years and you have to get used to being on stage and having people just staring at you. It really helps on this show if you’ve had a stand-up background, and you’ve been forced to stand in front of people in silence. I quite like an awkward silence now. I sort of revel in it. What’s the most you’ve ever laughed? I once wet …

It was fun. All I did was focus on making the person sweat. Look …
