Apple Execs Say Spatial Computing Is ‘Inevitable’ and AI Is a ‘Marathon, Not a Sprint’

Apple Execs Say Spatial Computing Is ‘Inevitable’ and AI Is a ‘Marathon, Not a Sprint’

Apple hardware engineering chief John Ternus and marketing chief Greg Joswiak recently did an interview with Tom’s Guide, where they shared new insights into the MacBook Neo, AI, and spatial computing. Ternus and Joswiak made it clear that the ‌MacBook Neo‌ isn’t your average low-cost device. Apple doesn’t typically put a lot of focus on its more affordable devices, but marketing for the Neo has been expansive, and that’s because Apple sees it as a “reinvention” of the entry-level laptop. From Ternus: I think maybe another one from our past is this idea that Steve talked about is the Mac being the bicycle for the mind, right? And you know, from the very beginning, the vision was let’s make personal computing as accessible to as many people as possible. And that was the mission of the MacBook Neo. Ternus said the ‌MacBook Neo‌ required “building something completely new from the ground up” to provide customers with quality at a low price. “We never want to ship junk,” he said. “We want to ship great products …

I hired a nutritionist to help me prep for the London Marathon. This is what I found

For most of my life, running and nutrition were never things I took seriously. I grew up overweight, and food was something I turned to for comfort. It was less about fuelling my body and more about trying to feel better in the moment which is something that often left me feeling worse. I found myself stuck in cycles of bingeing, eating foods that lacked nutritional value and avoiding exercise altogether. When I first moved to London, things didn’t change overnight. For two years, I was on and off in the gym, struggling with consistency – and more importantly, lacking a sense of community. It wasn’t until I decided to start a run club that something shifted. Being surrounded by people who were motivated, disciplined and achieving incredible things pushed me out of my comfort zone. That environment led me to sign up for my first 10K race in November 2024, and from there, I went on to complete two half marathons in 2025. At the time, it looked like a lot of growth and …

Opioid addiction almost destroyed me – then I became a top marathon runner

Opioid addiction almost destroyed me – then I became a top marathon runner

It started in 1998, with a pain in Ken Rideout’s ankle. A podiatrist gave him a prescription for seven Percocet, a drug containing the opioid oxycodone. Rideout was a high-flying commodity trader in New York, outwardly successful but racked with impostor syndrome. The Percocet dulled his foot pain – and also his anxiety. Rideout was used to alcohol and cocaine, but this was different. He felt happy, confident and optimistic. He returned to the podiatrist for more pills. Then more. Soon he was altering the prescriptions manually, changing a seven into a two and adding a zero, before targeting smaller pharmacies that wouldn’t run verification checks. A year after starting the pills, Rideout moved to London for work. This was an opportunity, he thought, for a clean break. But within a week he was suffering extreme withdrawal: depression, delirium from days of lost sleep, overwhelming flu-like symptoms. He called his younger brother and asked him to FedEx a batch of a new drug he had read about called OxyContin, which, depending on the dose, can …

London Marathon 2024: Date, route and how to enter

London Marathon 2024: Date, route and how to enter

People all over the country are gearing up to don their running shoes for the London Marathon in less than a month’s time.  More than half-a-million people have already applied via a ballot to take part in the 2024 TCS London Marathon, due to take place at the end of April. The majority of places are now taken and most runners have kicked off their training plans ahead of next month’s race.  This year, the London Marathon is bigger and better than ever. A number of runners are vying to make and break records during the race, including one man dressed as a poo who is raising awareness of Crohn’s disease.  London Marathon Events (LME) also revealed last year it is introducing carbon dioxide (CO2) removal initiatives in an effort to achieve net zero by 2030. It’ll be funded by a £26 climate levy introduced for international runners. The London Marathon has been awarded gold certification status by the Council for Responsible Sport following assessments of its planning, communications, and community access. Unfortunately, because the …
