Ford announces ,500 Fleet Discount on F150 Lightning Pro

Ford announces $7,500 Fleet Discount on F150 Lightning Pro

Ford commercial truck customers can score a sweet deal on a new Ford F-150 Lightning Pro, thanks to a new $7,500 Fleet Order Discount offer – but that’s just the beginning: there are even more Lightning incentives out there for fleet buyers! Before we get too deep into this new Ford Fleet Order Discount, it’s important to note that the $7,500 Fleet Order Discount is distinct from the Federal $7,500 tax credit. How do Federal tax credits work? That’s a great question! According to the IRS, “You may qualify for a credit up to $7,500 under Internal Revenue Code Section 30D if you buy a new, qualified plug-in EV or fuel cell electric vehicle (FCV). The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 changed, but extended the terms for this credit for vehicles purchased between 2023 to 2032.” Granted, that doesn’t do much to answer the question, but Scooter Doll put together a fantastic explainer in a post titled, “Here’s every electric vehicle that currently qualifies for the US federal tax credit in 2024,” and the short …

Here’s What Happens When Lightning Hits A Plane

Here’s What Happens When Lightning Hits A Plane

I’m not an anxious flyer, but even I have to admit that the idea of a plane I’m in being struck by lightning mid-air terrifies me. Perhaps it shouldn’t ― after all, the National Weather Service of America says that most commercial planes “are hit by lightning an average of one or two times a year.” But why does it happen, and is it even dangerous for the passengers and crew inside? There’s a LOT more lightning than I realised Most lightning strikes to planes occur at altitudes between 5,000 and 15,000 feet, Simple Flying shared. That’s because takeoff and landing is when the vehicles pass through clouds, which are electrically charged. Edward J. Rupke, senior engineer at Lightning Technologies, Inc. told Scientific American that aeroplanes actually trigger lightning strikes as they pass through non-striking, but electrically-charged, clouds. “Actually, aircraft often initiate the strike because their presence enhances the ambient electric fields typical for thunderstorms and facilitates electrical breakdown through air,” the US National Weather Service explains. The strike attaches itself to an extremity like …

Trains delayed as lightning storms disrupt public transport electricity lines

Minor delays were also reported on South Western and Great Western railways while London Transport was reporting “good service” for all lines despite patches of heavy rain.  Social media users have been sharing videos and photos of spectacular lightning shows above their homes, with some residents reporting that the sky was so bright it lit up their homes as they were awoken by booming thunder.  The clouds will clear later in the morning before the temperature rises and delivers some of the warmest weather of the year, said Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna. This would come a day after Wednesday saw temperatures peak at their highest yet in 2024 at 22.1C. Mr Petagna told the PA news agency: “After a night of storms, the rain will ease in the south of England for a while tomorrow. We could see the skies brightening up in a few places and it will be another warm day. Parts of the South East could even get to 24 degrees and beat today’s temperatures. “But as the skies brighten and …
