Gears of War: E-Day review – an alien invasion shouldn’t be this boring | Games

Every Gears of War game released in the last 20 years has made reverent reference to Emergence Day, when alien creatures emerged from the earth, single-minded in their savagery. In E-Day, you’re there to witness it: the police lights, flipped cars, ground tremors, civilians running, aliens pouring out of fissures in the earth and ripping faces off. You’re at ground zero in a squad of four soldiers called Gears – Marcus Fenix, the leader; Dom, who wants to retire; Lucas, a green cadet with a buzzcut; and the dishonourably discharged Mags. Only this dysfunctional quartet can turn the tide. With guns. Lots of ’em. Instead of answering questions raised by the ending of 2019’s Gears 5, we’re back to the start to find out why Marcus has a scar on his lip and why these soldiers started strapping chainsaws on to their assault rifles. Anything that was left to the imagination is here, for you to point at and say: “I understood that reference. This is a thing that I have seen.” This series has …

Trump tries to sell US weapons to Xi despite China-Taiwan invasion fears | World | News

Trump and Xi (Image: Getty) President Donald Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping if he wanted to buy weapons from the United States, the US ambassador to China has said. David Perdue said Mr Trump raised the prospect of the arms sales from the US to its ascendant geopolitical rival, an unlikely offer that if consummated would upend generations of US policy towards China and Taiwan and expose US technology to a potential foe. Mr Perdue, speaking to Shannon Bream on Fox News Channel’s Fox News Sunday days after Mr Trump hosted Mr Xi for a state visit in Washington, did not specify when the offer was made. Mr Perdue said on Sunday that Mr Trump, a Republican, was downplaying longstanding US arms sales to Taiwan – which have drawn protest from Beijing for years – by couching it as just one of many sales Washington makes around the world – and even asking Mr Xi if he would be in the market for US weaponry. Bream had cited concerns from Republican and Democratic legislators …

The best alien invasion series on Netflix isn’t 3 Body Problem, and it has a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score

The best alien invasion series on Netflix isn’t 3 Body Problem, and it has a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score

3 Body Problem is one of the best sci-fi series on Netflix right now, an ambitious story of alien invasion based on a celebrated trilogy of books. But there’s another sci-fi Netflix show that’s in the exact position, although far fewer people have heard about it. And that’s a huge shame, considering that it’s even better. What is The Eternaut about? This show builds slow, and it’s the better for it The Eternaut released its first season on Netflix in April 2025. Based on the Argentinian graphic novel originally published in 1957, it’s set in Buenos Aires, and begins with a trio of high school girls on a sailboat toasting their futures. One of them goes below deck, and is horrified to see one, then the other of her friends collapse. We shift to a scene of a group of old friends playing cards, even though one of them, Omar (Ariel Staltari), is kind of crashing the party. The power goes out, and while the friends play it off as no big deal at first, …

“Save Us From Our Traitor Gov’t”: Massive Madrid Protests Erupt Over Socialist Regime’s Handling Of Ceuta Invasion

“Save Us From Our Traitor Gov’t”: Massive Madrid Protests Erupt Over Socialist Regime’s Handling Of Ceuta Invasion

Spain’s Ceuta border invasion has morphed into a major political headache for Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Tens of thousands of Spaniards took to the streets of Madrid to protest the government’s handling of the crisis, potentially accelerating the political shift identified by Nomura analysts, who expect right-wing populist movements to gain traction across Europe during the next 18-month election cycle. About 72,000 migrants, many reportedly military-age men, invaded the Spanish enclave from neighboring Morocco in late July. The scale and apparent coordination of the invasion raised concerns that Ceuta had been targeted through weaponized migration flows. The influx plunged the enclave, which has a population of approximately 84,000, into utter chaos for weeks. By mid-August, a second wave of military-age men attempted to storm the Ceuta border, but that effort largely fell flat. Although most of the migrants were quickly returned or repatriated, the surge overwhelmed local resources, left at least 90 people dead and sparked serious questions about Madrid’s open border policies. Italy’s continued border checks on arrivals from Spain further show how …

Protests erupt across Spain over migrant crisis as they slam ‘invasion’ | World | News

Thousands of protestors take to the streets over the influx of migrants in Ceuta (Image: Getty) Thousands of people have gathered in protests across Spain over the migrant crisis as they slam the Ceuta ‘invasion’. The people marched on the streets over the government’s handling of the influx of migrants coming to the Spanish exclave of Ceuta on the north African coast. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has been accused by opposition parties of abandoning the residents of Ceuta. However the government have claimed that right-wing parties are exploiting the crisis. Sánchez has insisted that Morocco was not responsible, blaming trafficking gangs and online misinformation for encouraging people to cross the border. A police report on Wednesday said that Moroccan security forces showed “total permissiveness” during the mass crossing. Morocco has denied orchestrating or being involved in the influx. Although most have returned around 5,000 remain in camps of on the …

Uprising In Ceuta: Locals Have Had Enough Of Migrant Invasion

Uprising In Ceuta: Locals Have Had Enough Of Migrant Invasion

Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity News, In the complete absence of any meaningful government action, the people of Ceuta have taken matters into their own hands. On Wednesday night, Spanish flags filled the streets of the North African enclave. Crowds chanted for deportations. Then a column of residents pushed toward El Trampolín beach, the open-air settlement that has occupied a family shoreline for nearly a month. Tents came down. Belongings went into the sea. Police formed a line between Spaniards and the camps – and opened fire with rubber bullets on the locals. Thousands of locals in Ceuta took to the street today to chant: “Deport the illegal migrants” ?? pic.twitter.com/WF2pZPpMBK — Visegrád 24 (@visegrad24) August 26, 2026 That is the picture now coming out of a city of roughly 84,000 people that was flooded at the end of July by a crossing Spanish officials have put above 70,000 and, in some tallies, near 80,000. The government spent weeks talking about “coexistence,” “diversity,” and “normality.” Ceuta spent those same weeks living with feces in …

The performance is set to take place in the Gazprom Arena, according to a Telegram post on Monday from the stadium. It comes after West, known as Ye, has faced a series of concert cancellations and performance bans across Europe after making antisemitic remarks, including praise for Adolf Hitler, and the use of Nazi imagery. West bought out a full-page advert in the Wall Street Journal where he issued an apology for his behaviour, attributing it to his bipolar-1 disorder in January. Second Ceuta Border Invasion Attempt Underway As Military-Aged Migrants Mass Near Spanish Enclave

Second Ceuta Border Invasion Attempt Underway As Military-Aged Migrants Mass Near Spanish Enclave

Summary:  Second Ceuta Border Invasion Attempt By Sub-Saharan Africans Ilegals  Public Health Disaster Unfolds In Ceuta After First Invasion, Weeks Ago Hybrid Warfare Fears Mount As Migrant Flows Weaponized  Italy’s Schengen suspension with Spain will remain until security risks disappear Weaponized Migrant Flows: Spain’s Ceuta Border Under Attack (Again)  Multiple open-source reports indicate that thousands of illegal aliens are massing near Spain’s Ceuta border, raising the prospect of coordinated attempts to breach the enclave for the second time. If verified, the invasion attempt comes just weeks after the first round, in which more than 60,000 military-aged men attempted to breach the border. This only suggests that migrant flows are being deliberately weaponized to pressure the socialist government in Madrid, potentially marking a second phase of sustained border destabilization. Official reporting from news outlet France 24 says: Morocco has deployed heavy security around the border city of Fnideq after false social media rumours claimed the border to Spain’s Ceuta enclave would open. Hundreds of migrants, mostly from sub-Saharan Africa, have gathered nearby, raising fears of another mass crossing just …

Ukraine fears toughest test since Russia’s full-scale invasion

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrives in the US ahead of talks with President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C, United States on July 28, 2026. Anadolu | Anadolu | Getty Images Ukrainian officials, drone executives and national security experts are bracing for another extremely difficult winter, fearing that a Russian assault on energy infrastructure could pose the toughest challenge of the war yet. From as early as April, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasized the importance of ensuring that the country’s energy and infrastructure facilities are fully operational and reliably protected for the next heating season. Just last month, in the peak of the Ukrainian summer, Zelenskyy confirmed Sergii Koretskyi as Ukraine’s new prime minister and said the former CEO of state-owned gas company Naftogaz would help to protect lives “and ensure that we make it through the winter.” His comments come as Ukraine’s enhanced drone capabilities have sought to raise the cost of the war for Russia and test President Vladimir Putin’s resolve after four-and-a-half years of conflict. Russian forces have increased the number of …
