Matt Lucas apologises to Millie Bobby Brown after actress hits out at ‘bullying’ | Ents & Arts News

Comedian Matt Lucas has apologised to actress Millie Bobby Brown after he posted a Little Britain catchphrase alongside photographs of the 21-year-old on social media.  Lucas, 50, wrote “no but yeah but”, a phrase used by delinquent teenager Vicky Pollard in the sketch comedy series he co-created, on an X post that reshared pictures of the Stranger Things star. The photos show Brown in Los Angeles wearing hoop earrings and a pink top, which Lucas said had prompted him to point out “the similarity by posting one of her [Vicky’s] catchphrases”. Lucas said: “Dear Millie, I just saw your post and wanted to respond, and provide some context. Nearly 25 years ago I co-wrote and appeared in a sketch show called Little Britain. “There was a character in it …

Kemi Badenoch Hits Back Against Trump Calling Zelensky A “Dictator”

Kemi Badenoch became the leader of the Conservative Party in November 2024 (Alamy) 2 min read19 February Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has posted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “not a dictator”, in a response to comments made by US President Donald Trump. This week, US and Russian officials have started discussions in Saudi Arabia on ending the war in Ukraine. European leaders held an emergency summit on Monday after it emerged that talks in Saudi Arabia would go ahead without representation from Ukraine or Europe. On Wednesday, Trump made a post seemingly blaming Zelensky for continuing the war and called him a “Dictator without Election”. In turn, Zelensky accused Trump of living in a “disinformation space” created by the Kremlin. Badenoch, who has previously accused the current Labour government of engaging in “student politics” with the Trump administration, today condemned Trump’s comments. “President Zelensky is not a dictator,” the leader of the opposition posted on X, the website formerly known as Twitter. “He is the democratically elected leader of Ukraine who bravely stood up to Putin’s illegal invasion. Under my leadership, and …

Neopets hits 400,000 monthly active users, tripling growth in 2024

Neopets hits 400,000 monthly active users, tripling growth in 2024

Neopets said its comeback gathered steam in 2024. The gaming brand’s daily active users (DAU) reached a new recent peak of nearly 250,000 and monthly active users (MAU) surpassed 400,000. That reflects three-fold growth since the company rebooted itself in 2023 and became a new independent game studio. The numbers are the highest in the past decade. While these milestones are early signs of renewed connection with fans, Neopets sees this as the beginning of its community-driven journey to revive one of the most iconic gaming titles in history. Neopets is a virtual pet game that has been played by more than 150 million players worldwide. But its growth slowed and it’s now coming back under new management. Since Dominic Law took over in July 2023, Neopets has reinvented itself, introducing 100+ classic mini-games, new storylines and licensing partnerships. Neopets’ revival is more than nostalgia – it’s about having fun and creating meaningful connections with players across generations. By blending the charm of early internet gaming culture with a modern focus on emotional well-being, the …

Labour cost-cutting spree now hits STEM programme

Labour cost-cutting spree now hits STEM programme

More from this theme Recent articles Labour has continued its cost-cutting spree by binning a long-running programme to boost take-up in physics – despite Keir Starmer this week pledging to make Britain an AI superpower. The prime minister unveiled his vision to “unleash” AI across the UK to deliver a “decade of national renewal”. One of the commitments was to “facilitate significant and sustained progress on improving the gender balance across digital education”. But it has emerged the Department for Education will cease funding for the Stimulating Physics Network (SPN) when its contract ends in March. Running for 16 years, it helps get more girls studying the subject. Funding to help science teachers attend “high-impact training” at the National STEM Learning Centre has also been slashed. Meanwhile, computing and science hubs have already been axed. ‘Undermining decades of progress’ Severine Trouillet, CEO of STEM Learning which runs the schemes, said it was “a significant blow to education in critical enabling areas” that could have aided the government’s AI vision. She added cuts “undermine decades of …

Harris hits Trump on abortion in ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast

Vice President Kamala Harris sits for an interview with Alex Cooper on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. Call Her Daddy Vice President Kamala Harris was all business in an interview on the sex-positive “Call Her Daddy” podcast that aired Sunday. Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, spent the bulk of the roughly 40-minute conversation litigating her case against Donald Trump, blasting the Republican nominee’s track record on abortion and women’s rights. “There are now 20 states with Trump abortion bans,” Harris told “Call her Daddy” host Alex Cooper. “This is the same guy that said women should be punished for having abortions.” In 2022, three Supreme Court justices whom Trump nominated during his presidency were part of a majority that overturned Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that for a half-century had said there was a federal right to abortion. The decision allowed individual states to restrict or permit abortions as they saw fit. The “Call Her Daddy” podcast is largely popular with young women, a voter base Harris already polls strongly with. But the …

Kamala Harris Hits L.A. for Star-Studded Fundraiser: ‘Good to Be Home’

Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign rolled into Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, marking her first major fundraiser in the city and bringing along a starry group of supporters. The vice president hosted an afternoon event at the J.W. Marriott in downtown Los Angeles, with a lineup of celebrity speakers and guests that included Stevie Wonder, Sterling K. Brown, Lily Tomlin, Demi Lovato, Keegan-Michael Key and Jessica Alba; Alanis Morissette and Halle Bailey also performed during the fundraiser. Inside the event — press was only allowed in for Harris’ remarks — the presidential candidate took the stage to Beyoncé’s hit song “Freedom,” alongside an announcer declaring, “please welcome our next president of the United States” to a standing ovation from the crowd. “Oh, it’s good to be home,” Harris responded to the applause; though she grew up in Oakland, she has deep ties to Los Angeles, still owning a home in Brentwood with her husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. Harris shouted out the longtime support she’s gotten from the city in her long political career, noting, “I …
