5 Highlights From The Pentagon’s UFO Files

5 Highlights From The Pentagon’s UFO Files

Authored by Jacob Burg & Jacki Thrapp via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours – the ALFstein files), Apollo 11 astronauts reported seeing a “sizeable” object close to the moon with a “fairly bright light source” that they described as a “possible laser,” in a newly released post-mission crew debriefing from NASA. That document, along with videos and images of unknown objects in airspace from nearly all corners of the globe, was included in newly released files from the Pentagon related to the U.S. government’s investigations into unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). The first tranche of files was released on May 8. “As for my promise to you, the Department of War has released the first tranche of the UFO/UAP files to the Public for their review and study,” President Donald Trump wrote on social media Friday morning. “With these new Documents and Videos, the people can decide for themselves, ‘WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?’ Have Fun and Enjoy!” While the Pentagon had been increasingly declassifying various UFO and UAP files …

‘Our Empire’ exhibit at the Cheech highlights the Inland Empire

‘Our Empire’ exhibit at the Cheech highlights the Inland Empire

Dilapidated buildings and decaying signage may put off the casual observer. But for Redlands-based artists James McClung and Marcus Mercado, the gritty patina of the Inland Empire urban landscape conjures memories of life in the region. Honoring these unassuming entities is the main focus of a new community exhibit, titled “Our Empire,” at the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture. A total of 29 acrylic, mixed media paintings and drawings by McClung and Mercado will be on display at the Altura Credit Union Community Gallery until Oct. 23. “James and Marcus’ artistic excellence, deep local roots and passion to tell the stories of their neighborhoods aligns with the vision of the Altura Credit Union Community Gallery — a space dedicated to providing opportunities for SoCal artists to showcase their work and uplift the people and places of our region,” said Valerie Found, interim executive director of Riverside Art Museum. “A lot of people that grew up in these communities see some of these locations and they’re very relatable to their upbringing,” says McClung. …

Our Fragile Space exhibition highlights dangers of space debris

Our Fragile Space exhibition highlights dangers of space debris

A groundbreaking photographic exhibition is set to highlight the grave and deepening issue of space debris. Our Fragile Space shines a spotlight on the critical importance of space sustainability and the protection of the night sky through a powerful blend of reportage and artistic photography. Created and led by photographer Max Alexander and supported by the Royal Astronomical Society, Our Fragile Space will be open to the public in the Burlington House courtyard in London from 19 March to 10 May 2026. Space debris poses significant threats to our way of life Our Fragile Space will exhibit the growing threat space debris poses to our environment and way of life. These concerns are shared by the RAS, particularly in the wake of plans by SpaceX, Reflect Orbital and China to launch a combined 1.25 million satellites into an already crowded and increasingly perilous low-Earth orbit. “Max Alexander’s brilliant exhibition is a powerful and timely reminder of the growing threat of space junk,” stated RAS President Professor Mike Lockwood. “Thought-provoking and instructive in equal measure, the …

Scissor Sisters And Foo Fighters: Graham Norton Highlights

If you tuned into the latest edition of The Graham Norton Show, you’ll have been treated to the musical stylings of Dave Grohl and his group, Foo Fighters. But what you might not have realised at the time is that they were joined by some familiar faces. On Friday night, Foo Fighters performed the title song from their next album Your Favorite Toy on Graham’s BBC talk show, after which Dave joined fellow guests Benicio Del Toro, Jennifer Garner, Charli XCX and Gordon Ramsay for a quick chat on the iconic red sofa. After the performance aired, Jake Shears confirmed that he and his Scissor Sisters bandmate Babydaddy had been drafted in by fellow 2000s music icon Dave to join them for the performance. “Sometimes you just end up in the Foo Fighters for a night!!” Jake joked. “What is life?! Thank you Foos and Graham for having us. Will never forget it!!” Meanwhile Babydaddy enthused: “Teenage me’s head just exploded. This guy has been a friend, ally and (insanely) fan for over 20 years …

Viral AI agent OpenClaw highlights the psychological complexity of human-computer interaction

Viral AI agent OpenClaw highlights the psychological complexity of human-computer interaction

PsyPost’s PodWatch highlights interesting clips from recent podcasts related to psychology and neuroscience. On Thursday, February 12, the Lex Fridman Podcast, featured Peter Steinberger, a software engineer and the creator of the viral AI agent OpenClaw. The episode touched on the psychological evolution of human-computer interaction and how developers are attempting to imbue artificial intelligence with personality to foster deeper connections with users. The conversation relevant to psychology took place roughly an hour and a half into the recording, beginning with a concept Steinberger calls the “soul” of software. He described his experiment with a file named “soul.md,” a document designed to define the core values and personality traits of his AI agent. Steinberger explained that while automation is efficient, it often lacks the style and affection that human builders infuse into their work. To counter this dry efficiency, he encouraged his AI to rewrite its own template files to include humor and warmth, creating a user experience that feels “cozy” rather than purely functional. The most significant moment in this segment occurred when the …

Arc de Triomphe knife attack highlights difficulty in monitoring radicalized former prisoners

Arc de Triomphe knife attack highlights difficulty in monitoring radicalized former prisoners

Soldiers and police officers near the Arc de Triomphe after the stabbing attack on a police officer in Paris, February 13, 2026. BENOIT TESSIER / REUTERS Only two months after being released early from prison, where he had been serving a 17-year sentence for stabbing two Belgian police officers in 2012 – one of whom, a woman, was seriously injured at the time – a radical Islamist attempted to knife gendarmes preparing to take part in a ceremony to rekindle the flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe, in Paris’s 8th arrondissement. On Friday, February 13, shortly after 6 pm, according to a statement from France’s national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office (PNAT): “A man attacked a member of the Gendarmerie nationale with a knife and a pair of scissors. Another gendarme responded by using his service weapon to neutralize the assailant. The attacked gendarme was not physically injured, as the knife struck the collar of his coat.” The gendarmerie specified that the individual had targeted “musicians of the mobile gendarmerie.” …

Rethinking our approach to BMI highlights the need for speed

Rethinking our approach to BMI highlights the need for speed

Moving too quickly in medicine can be disastrous. The previous century is littered with examples, from the scandal of thalidomide – a morning sickness drug that had never been tested on pregnant animals – to the embrace of low-fat diets, based on scanty evidence. But there’s also danger in moving too slowly, and the body mass index (BMI) is a case in point. We have known for decades that the measure – a simple calculation based on a person’s weight and height – is too blunt a tool, unable to distinguish between fat and muscle or account for global diversity. Its benefits are that it is fast, cheap and simple, but by using it for so long, millions have been erroneously labelled as overweight, a diagnosis with knock-on effects such as being denied fertility treatment and certain surgeries. But there are better alternatives, and these are finally beginning to be used. Last year, The Lancet helped catalyse this overdue change by recommending that BMI alone should not be used to measure obesity, a suggestion that …

Highlights from the Frida Kahlo Show at the MFA, Houston

It is difficult to think of an artist more iconic than Frida Kahlo, a figure whose artwork is as instantly recognizable as her personal style. An upcoming exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, organized by Mari Carmen Ramírez, the MFA’s curator of Latin American art, looks at the posthumous transformation of Frida (as she is widely known) from Diego Rivera’s partner to being recognized for her artistic achievements to the global celebrity she is today. “‘Frida: The Making of an Icon’ attempts to separate Frida Kahlo the artist from Frida Kahlo the phenomenon,” said Ramírez in a statement. The show is not simply a retrospective of Kahlo’s work; it includes pieces by nearly 80 other artists across five generations who were inspired by Kahlo, among them Laura Aguilar, Judith F. Baca, Judy Chicago, Catherine Opie, Carrie Mae Weems, and many others. The Museo Frida Kahlo in Mexico City also lent archival materials like photographs, documents, clothing, and jewelry. Some of the most high-profile Kahlo paintings in the show are the 1949 self portrait Diego and I, …
