North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency said the country’s current leader, Kim Jong Un, visited the body of Kim Ki Nam at a funeral hall in the capital, Pyongyang, early Wednesday and expressed condolences to family members. Brand shared a video to social media detailing how Grylls was one of two men who “flanked him” during the ceremony where he lives in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. The 48-year-old comedian had previously called baptism an “opportunity to leave the past behind”, less than a year after a Channel 4 Dispatches documentary exposed allegations of sexual assault against him. “Week one as a Christian has been amazing,” Brand said in the video. “The ceremony itself was incredible. I want to thank Bear Grylls and my mate Joe, the two men that stood either side of me and flanked me for the baptism itself.” Grylls confirmed his attendance to the Daily Mail and described assisting in Brand’s baptism as a “privilege” after the comedian’s “tough time”. “Faith and spiritual …

Juro Kara, playwright who helped shape Japan’s postwar avant-garde theatre, dies at 84

For free real time breaking news alerts sent straight to your inbox sign up to our breaking news emails Sign up to our free breaking news emails Juro Kara, who helped shape Japan’s postwar avant-garde theater, defiantly yet playfully transforming the essence of Kabuki aesthetics into modern storytelling, has died. He was 84. The playwright, director and troupe leader died late Saturday from a blood clot in the brain after he collapsed at home and was rushed to a Tokyo hospital on 1 May, his theatre group Karagumi said in a statement on Sunday. Kara, whose real name was Yoshihide Otsuru, rose to stardom in the so-called Japanese underground movement of the 1960s known as “un-gura”, characterized by a kitsch rebellious style also found in his contemporaries Shuji Terayama and Tadashi Suzuki. Kara’s colourful shows, often in makeshift tents evocative of a traveling circus, rejected the established theatrical modes then dominating modernizing Japan that were mostly Western, middle class and well-behaved. His plays, such as “Koshimaki Osen,” were characterized by a raw energetic physicality, blatantly …

I added this one strength training technique into my weekly workouts and it helped me build strength faster than I ever have before

I added this one strength training technique into my weekly workouts and it helped me build strength faster than I ever have before

Here at Fit&Well, we give you all the fitness information you need to stand on your own two feet in the gym. But not this time.  Instead, I want to share the benefits of single-leg movements and other unilateral exercises—moves that target one side of your body at a time.  For the last five weeks, I’ve been incorporating more of these moves into my training with the goal of building more strength and muscle. And I’ve already noticed week-on-week increases in the weights I’m able to lift.  Want proof? I’ve noticed my barbell back squat numbers creeping in the right direction; I started by lifting five sets of five reps at 220lb/100kg, and most recently hit four sets of four reps at 115kg/250lb.  That’s one of several reasons why I think this strength training technique deserves a spot in your exercise plans.  How I added unilateral exercises into my schedule I’m a big fan of unilateral exercises but that doesn’t mean every exercise I do is unilateral. I like to use them alongside bilateral moves as …

It was like every Wednesday night, I would show up late. I didn’t want nobody to see my car,” Haddish tells Corden when asked about the history of her friendship with Hart. She continues, “I would park a little further away or I would pull up and let the valet take the car, but I would pull up late so nobody would see it. One day I pulled up and Kevin pulled up just in front of me and I was like, ‘Damn. Maybe I should pull up,’ and he’s like looking at me. He’s like, ‘Haddish, what’s all this stuff in your car? What’s going on? You homeless or something?’ I’m like, ‘Ah, I’m just …
