New study shows food served up is ‘poorly received’ and 20% of kids do their only exercise in school New study shows food served up is ‘poorly received’ and 20% of kids do their only exercise in school More from this theme Recent articles More than one in ten schools give children less than 30 minutes for lunch, an increase on six years ago, new polling suggests. A Teacher Tapp survey, released this morning, also found the food dished up by primaries and secondaries was “poorly received” by teachers and pupils alike. Up to a quarter of children also revealed they do their only exercise for the week at school. June Stevenson, of Teacher Tapp, said: “Pupils clearly care a lot about their lunchtimes, but too many of them struggle for sufficient time to eat, socialise and enjoy activities. “Teachers tell us how much they care too, and 60 per cent tell us they experience lunchtime issues impacting on afternoon learning time” The study, based partially on polling of teachers and partially on school surveys …

UB40 say striking Birmingham bin workers ‘shouldn’t give up’ | UK News

Birmingham band UB40 say the city’s striking bin workers and their union should “keep fighting” in their dispute over pay. It comes as the government and the council urged them to accept a “fair and reasonable offer”. “We’re fully on their side,” drummer Jimmy Brown told Sky News. “I think they shouldn’t give up, they should still be fighting. “Working people shouldn’t have to take a reduction in their incomes, which is what we’re talking about here. “We’re talking about people being paid less and it seems to me with prices going up, heating, buying food, inflation and rents going up then people need a decent wage to have a half decent life… keep going boys!” Image: Members of the Unite union in Birmingham earlier this month. Give us back our money, parents tell payment provider

More from this theme Recent articles Schools are demanding a payment provider which has ceased operating in the UK refund their parents in full amid accusations that cash is being “withheld”. sQuid provided parents with an online account where funds could be uploaded to pay for school dinners and trips – but shut up shop last Friday. Around 600 schools used it. However, the firm will only refund parents for balances over £10, and those wanting to withdraw their cash must pay a £10 “administration fee”. Rob Pointen, CEO of Weduc which had partnered with sQuid, said the decision to deny parents refunds appeared “wholly unjustifiable” in an email he sent to the firm. “Parents deposited their money in good faith, and it is wholly unacceptable for them to be penalised simply because your company is shutting down,” he wrote in a letter to sQuid’s CEO last Friday. ‘It’s just very wrong’ While parents tend to keep small amounts on sQuid accounts, schools said it can add up. One trust claimed sQuid currently holds about …

Players tend to like games that give them rewards, Almedia study shows

Players who receive rewards for playing or downloading a game tend to feel more positively towards the game and are more likely to recommend it, according to a study conducted by user acquisition company Almedia. This is especially true, according to the study’s findings, if the reward in question has tangible value outside of the game, such as cash or gift cards. Users are 76% more likely to recommend a game from which the player has received such a reward. The study defines “real-world rewards” as items with tangible value outside of the game, such as cash or gift cards. “In-game rewards” are virtual items with value in the game’s economy. Almedia’s study — the second part of one on rewards — was conducted by Atomik Research using 2,003 mobile gamers in the US and UK. 50% had received real-world rewards for playing games, while the other 50% had received in-game rewards. It’s worth noting that the study didn’t offer any data on gamers who’d received no rewards for playing. Out of the players who …

5 Signs Of Financial Growth That You Don’t Give Yourself Enough Credit For

Navigating an economy where the cost of living is exponentially high and people aren’t making enough money at their jobs to cover their basic expenses, the reality of being financially free is unattainable for a vast majority of individuals.
