City University ends Newspaper MA after 50 years

City St George’s University has ended its Newspaper Journalism MA after 50 years, replacing it with a Journalism MA Course. City City George’s, which is part of the University of London, was previously just called City University and continues to also run specialist MA courses in Investigative Journalism, International Journalism, Magazine Journalism, Global Financial Journalism and Broadcast Journalism. Famous alumni of the City Newspaper Journalism MA include: former Times editor James Harding, former Spectator editor Fraser Nelson, BBC economics editor Faisal Islam, current Times editor Tony Gallagher, journalist and broadcaster Helen Lewis, Sunday Times journalist Decca Aitkenhead and former Telegraph editor Will Lewis. City said that the new Journalism MA has had triple the number of applications and has 56 students enrolled (compared to 30 on last year’s Newspaper Journalism MA). Log in Quentin Tarantino’s first stage play is set to arrive in the West End in February, with Sacha Baron Cohen in the lead role. The Popinjay Cavalier, described as a swashbuckling comedy, has been written by the Oscar winner, who will also serve as director. The production will open at the Phoenix Theatre in London on 18 March 2027, with previews available from 23 February, and is currently booking until 13 June. Tickets will be available from 9am today (12 October) for those with priority access, and will go on general release from 12pm. Log in Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been granted £302,000 in compensation after his lease on his former Royal Lodge home in Windsor was officially surrendered, a Crown Estate spokesperson said. The former Duke of York left the Royal Lodge and moved onto the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk in February this year. As he handed back the keys, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor paid £1.8m for dilapidations, the sum of which was informed and reviewed by independent advisers. This term was included in the lease to reflect the significant £7.5m refurbishments made by the tenant at the start of the lease. The outbuilding needs significant repairs and the main house and garden are understood to need restoration, as reported by The Times.
