Putin will ‘interfere in US election’ to help Trump win: ‘It’s his last hope’ | US | News

“Now Putin can say to them ‘soon Trump will win and everything will be different.’ “Now the elites are waiting for the result of the US election. Putin is now ready to undertake any action because if Trump doesn’t win he will lose everything.” Gallyamov’s comments come despite Putin recently stating he would prefer Biden to be US President after November’s election. Asked who he would prefer to work with, Putin said: “Biden, he’s more experienced, more predictable, he’s a politician of the old formation. “But we will work with any US leader whom the American people trust.” Trump later hailed the comments as a “great compliment.” The Mueller Report was an investigation that was carried out after the 2016 election to see if Russian interference had played a role. The report stated that Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election occurred “in sweeping and systematic fashion” but “did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.” Gallyamov nonetheless believes that Russia will …

Kemp predicts Trump trials will be ‘ruled on’ before election

Kemp predicts Trump trials will be ‘ruled on’ before election

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) predicted Tuesday that former President Trump’s numerous legal challenges could be decided before November’s election. Kemp was asked on CNN’s “The Source with Kaitlan Collins” if he believed Trump’s cases “should go to trial before the elections” so that voters can make a decision on the outcomes of his cases. “Well, listen, I think most voters probably feel the same way I do,” he told Collins. “I mean, we’re a country that was built on laws and the Constitution and it is up to us really as elected leaders to be the ones that exemplify that in a lot of ways. So we’ll see where the process plays out. I think probably they will be ruled on before the election.” Trump is facing four separate criminal cases as he campaigns on his third bid for the White House. He has claimed that he should have presidential immunity in the federal 2020 election interference case, but the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Trump’s claim earlier this month. The three-judge panel …

‘Black America at Crossroads’ of culture wars as presidential election looms

‘Black America at Crossroads’ of culture wars as presidential election looms

Summit in Washington, DC, May 2-4, 2024, set to ‘ignite conservative, Black vote.’ WASHINGTON — America’s Black vote could decide the outcome of the most important Presidential election in decades, according to the leaders of an influential Black conservative movement. Dr. Eric Wallace and his wife Jennifer, co-founders of faith-based nonprofit Freedom’s Journal Institute (FJI), say the upcoming Black Conservative Summit (BCS) in Washington, DC, will address a “tidal wave of cultural Marxism” they assert is undermining family values and religious freedoms. The May 2-4 gathering will unite conservatives under the theme “Black America at a Crossroads: Cultural Marxism vs. A Biblical Worldview.” (https://subspla.sh/tzk2r78) “Cultural Marxism is a revolutionary leftist idea, which proposes that Christian culture, norms, and beliefs are the source of oppression against freedom in the modern world,” said Eric Wallace, who holds a Ph.D. in biblical studies. According to the Pew Research Center, in 2020 President Joe Biden received more than 90% of Black votes. However, according to a recent NBC News poll, Biden’s support among the 34 million-plus eligible Black voters has …

Supreme Court Rejects Appeal From Trump-Allied Lawyers Over 2020 Election Lawsuit

Supreme Court Rejects Appeal From Trump-Allied Lawyers Over 2020 Election Lawsuit

Washington —  The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected an appeal from Sidney Powell and other lawyers allied with former President Donald Trump over $150,000 in sanctions they were ordered to pay for abusing the court system with a sham lawsuit challenging the 2020 election results in Michigan. The justices did not comment in leaving in place the sanctions against seven lawyers who were part of the lawsuit filed on behalf of six Republican voters after Joe Biden’s 154,000-vote victory over Trump in the state. Among the lawyers is L. Lin Wood, whose name was on the lawsuit. Wood has insisted he had no role other than to tell Powell he would be available if she needed a seasoned litigator. The money is owed to the state and Detroit, for their costs in defending the lawsuit. The sanctions initially totaled $175,000, but a federal appeals court reduced them by about $25,000. In October, Powell pleaded guilty to state criminal charges in Georgia over her efforts to overturn Trump’s loss in the state. She pleaded guilty to …

Another Canada 93? Tory Sunak critics fear extinction-level election result | Conservatives

Another Canada 93? Tory Sunak critics fear extinction-level election result | Conservatives

Overseas elections from more than 30 years ago are rarely hot topics of conversation in modern UK politics. But whisper “Canada 1993” into a Conservative MP’s ear and don’t be surprised if they break into a sudden cold sweat. This is the model for the “extinction-level event” experienced by a previously dominant rightwing party – one that some Tory opponents of Rishi Sunak warn he risks emulating at the next general election. The basic and, for Tory MPs, chilling facts are that in October 1993 the Progressive Conservative party, in power in Canada since 1984, slumped from 167 federal seats to just two, eventually leading to its dissolution and merger into the new Conservative party of Canada. There are some curiously precise parallels: a complacent conservative incumbent that had recently ditched its leader (Kim Campbell replacing Brian Mulroney) was struggling with the economy and faced a new, insurgent rightwing party – called Reform. Arguably the most pertinent common ground is the fact that Canada, like Westminster, uses first past the post (FPTP), a system that …

Wisconsin’s governor signs new legislative maps into law, setting up Democrats to gain seats in November election

Wisconsin’s governor signs new legislative maps into law, setting up Democrats to gain seats in November election

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Democratic Governor Tony Evers signed new legislative district maps into law on Monday that he proposed and that the Republicans who control the Legislature passed to avoid having the liberal-controlled state Supreme Court draw the lines. Democrats hailed the signing as a major political victory in the swing state where the Legislature has been firmly under Republican control for more than a decade, even as Democrats have won 14 of the past 17 statewide elections. “When I promised I wanted fair maps — not maps that are better for one party or another, including my own — I damn well meant it,” Evers said prior to signing the maps into law at the state Capitol. “Wisconsin is not a red state or a blue state — we’re a purple state, and I believe our maps should reflect that basic fact. Democrats are almost certain to gain seats in the state Assembly and state Senate under the new maps, which be in place for the November election. Republicans have been operating since 2011 under maps …

Trump VP Contender Tim Scott Doesn’t Want to Talk About Vice President’s Role in Certifying Election

Trump VP Contender Tim Scott Doesn’t Want to Talk About Vice President’s Role in Certifying Election

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) — Sen. Tim Scott, a potential running mate if Donald Trump becomes the Republican presidential nominee, is treading carefully on questions about whether he would have certified the 2020 election had he been vice president at that time. On Jan. 6, 2021, about two months after Trump lost the White House, then-Vice President Mike Pence defied his boss and refused to use his largely ceremonial role in overseeing the election certification process to block Democrat Joe Biden’s victory. Pence went forward with ratification of the Electoral College even after a violent mob of Trump supporters, some of whom chanted “Hang Mike Pence,” swarmed the U.S. Capitol, interrupting the congressional proceedings and forcing Pence, his family and staff into hiding in the complex. Scott, a Trump rival in the 2024 race who dropped out and later endorsed the former president, declined to say in two Sunday news show interviews whether he would have acted differently as vice president. “I’m not going to answer hypothetical questions, No. 1,” said Scott, R-S.C. He added: …

Standing down: who are the MPs calling time before the next UK election? | House of Commons

So far 90 of the 650 currently sitting MPs have announced they won’t be seeking re-election – the highest number of departing MPs since 2010, with more retirements expected. Of those, 14 are former secretaries of state – 11 of them Tory – and nine are select committee chairs. The exodus is greater on the Tory benches, which are on track for their biggest wave of departures since the 1997 Labour landslide. We look at the most prominent figures set to leave parliament. There were suggestions he might take a tilt at the Tory leadership but soon after he left the cabinet last summer he announced he would not be seeking re-election. Matt Hancock Matt Hancock. Former Frontex chief joins French far right for EU election – POLITICO

“Our objective is clear: to regain control of the borders of the European Union and France,” he posted on social media network X on Saturday. The National Rally “has a concrete plan and the determination to make it a reality,” he said. According to new poll data released last week, France’s far right is forecast to record its highest-ever result in the upcoming European Parliament election. The National Rally, led by member of the European Parliament Jordan Bardella, could win 33 percent of the vote, while the far-right Reconquête party would stand at 6 percent, according to a poll from consultancy firm Portland Communications shared with POLITICO. Exact number of seats Richard Tice’s Reform could cost Tories at next general election | Politics | News

Exact number of seats Richard Tice’s Reform could cost Tories at next general election | Politics | News

Reform UK would cost the Tories 39 seats if it wins 10 percent of the vote at a general election, according to new analysis. The research by the More in Common think tank suggests Labour would gain 32 constituencies while the Lib Dems would take five. If the Nigel Farage-linked party hit 12 percent of votes, the Conservatives would lose 47 seats. And if Reform UK, formerly the Brexit Party, won 15 percent it would cost the Tories 63 seats. The insurgent party led by Richard Tice is expected to struggle to win seats outright but would split the right-wing vote. More in Common director Luke Tryl told the Sunday Times: “While you can’t simply add up the Conservative and Reform vote and assume it would give a combined vote share if the two parties joined forces, we do know that for every ten votes the party gets, they take six of those from the Conservatives and just half a vote from Labour. “Even though Reform won’t win seats themselves, for every ten votes the …
