Harris Federation CEO Sir Dan Moynihan has become the first academy trust chief executive to cross the £500,000 threshold, latest accounts show. He took home between £515,000 and £520,000 in 2023-24, up from a range of £485,000 to £490,000 the previous reporting year. This represents an increase of just over 5 per cent. It is Moynihan’s second pay rise in a row. In 2022-23, his wages rose from between £455,000 to £460,000 to at least £485,000. This represented his first uplift in pay since 2018-19. The trust – which has frequently been at the centre of controversy for its executive pay figures – has six other unnamed members of staff earning more than £190,000, compared to seven in 2022-23. Six Dollar Marble Sculpture Could Earn Millions to Scottish Town

Six Dollar Marble Sculpture Could Earn Millions to Scottish Town

Invergordon, a small town in central Scotland, could see its coffers filled following a decision by county committee to sell a marble bust made by the French artist Edmé Bouchardon in 1728 that, a quarter of a century ago, was propping open the door of a storage shed. The bust, which was bought for roughly $6.31 in 1930, could fetch more than $3 million through a private sale brokered by Sotheby’s, which appraised the sculpture at the request of the local government last year.  While the sculpture was originally purchased for display, a series of mysterious events led to it be placed in a storage shed “with other discarded council paraphernalia.” Former Invergordon community councilor Maxine Smith, who now serves on the broader governmental body the Highland council, told the Guardian last October that she found the bust while digging around the shed for a set of ceremonial robes that had gone missing. First-Time Buyers Must Earn 0,000 To Afford The Average Home

First-Time Buyers Must Earn $120,000 To Afford The Average Home

Earlier today we reported that for at least 40% of Americans – up from 27% just two years ago – the American Dream is dead and buried and has been replaced with the American nightmare: renting for life. And here’s why: according to a new survey from Clever Real Estate, a St. Louis-based real estate company, thanks to the galloping housing inflation, the median-priced home in the U.S. now costs $332,494, with NAR and Census Bureau data reporting that the median Existing and New Home sale price has risen to $393,500 and $430,700… … meaning prospective buyers need an annual income of at least $119,769 to afford it with a 10% down payment. That’s about $45,000 more than the typical household earns annually ($74,755). Even with a 20% down payment, home buyers would need to earn at least $98,202, still well above the typical salary. The last year that the median buyer put down 20% was 1989, according to data from the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Today, the median buyer puts down just 15% …

‘In the US they think we’re communists!’ The 70,000 workers showing the world another way to earn a living | Spain

When Marisa Fernández lost her husband to cancer a few years ago, her employers at the Eroski hypermarket went, she says, “above and beyond to help me through the dark days afterwards, rejigging my timetable and giving me time off when I couldn’t face coming in.” She had a chance to return the favour recently when the store, in Arrasate-Mondragón in Spain’s Basque Country, was undergoing renovations. Fernández, 58, who started on the cashier desk 34 years ago, and now manages the store’s non-food section, volunteered to work extra shifts over the weekend along with her colleagues to ensure everything was ready for Monday morning. “It’s not just me. Everyone is ready to go the extra mile,” she says. Such harmonious employer-worker relations are the stuff of corporate dreams, and they are no accident here: the Eroski retail chain is part of Mondragón Corporation, the largest industrial co-op in the world. As a fully signed-up member, Fernández co-owns part of the supermarket chain that also employs her. “It feels like mine,” she says. “We work …

More than 100 MPs earn over £10,000 a year as landlords | Politics News

More than 100 MPs earn over £10,000 a year as landlords | Politics News

More than 100 MPs have earned over £10,000 a year as landlords over the course of this parliament, research from Sky News has found. A total of 83 Tories have declared they received the sizeable rental payments since the last election in December 2019, along with 18 Labour MPs, four Liberal Democrats and one member of the SNP. But many more could be benefiting from a smaller income as landlords, as MPs only have to publish it on the register of interests if rent tops the £10,000 annual figure. The numbers come as the long-awaited Renters’ Reform Bill returns to the Commons on Wednesday, with campaigners demanding stronger action to make the market fairer for those renting their homes. Follow Sky News on WhatsApp Keep up with all the latest news from the UK and around the world by following Sky News Tap here The majority of the MPs found in Sky News’ research were landlords of residential properties – with 104 of them having a stake in over 217 homes. How to earn thousands letting film and music stars shoot in your home | UK News

Earning up to £60,000 a year for letting Stormzy film a music video in your kitchen or Paloma Faith play with Lego in the living room might sound farfetched to homeowners unfamiliar with the shoot locations industry.  But every star, studio or big brand that wants to film in a residential property needs someone willing to offer up their home for the day – and they’ll pay between £700 and £3,000 for the privilege. Homeowners and shooting agencies spoke to Sky News about the promises and pitfalls of working with the likes of Disney, Netflix and ITV to take advantage of this niche income stream. Among them was Ed Reeve, a photographer from Hackney, who has had stars such as David Attenborough, Stormzy and Jim Broadbent walk through his doors in the 17 years he’s been renting out his home. “It has been a really positive experience on the whole for us. Generally, the shoot crews are really lovely people and they’re very respectful of your home,” said Mr Reeve, who is registered with location …

Earn a guaranteed $1,000 per month from the ChatGPT Store

OpenAI has recently launched a groundbreaking initiative for ChatGPT designed to provide financial incentives to developers who create custom Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPTs) or custom GPTs for the official GPT store. This program, set to commence on May 1st, is aimed at a select group of U.S.-based developers, referred to as “Builders.” Announced on X the new scheme introduces a income source for developers by compensating them based on the usage of their GPT models. This move represents a significant advancement in the monetization of AI technology and could potentially transform the landscape for AI developers, encouraging them to push the boundaries of innovation and create GPTs with wide-ranging applications. The program’s goal is to foster a thriving ecosystem of custom GPTs, where developers are rewarded for their ingenuity and the value their models bring to users. By directly linking compensation to the usage of their GPTs, OpenAI aims to create a virtuous cycle in which developers are motivated to create increasingly sophisticated and useful models, ultimately benefiting both the AI community and end-users. Michigan’s governor signs law to help foster youth earn diplomas

Michigan’s governor signs law to help foster youth earn diplomas

DETROIT — A new Michigan law aims to ensure that foster youth in the state receive an education that builds toward a high school diploma.  The law, signed Thursday by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, comes nearly two years after NBC News exposed an educational crisis that had forced vulnerable teens to repeat classes they took while living in state-funded residential facilities, delaying graduation for some and leading others to drop out.  The law will, for the first time, require the state to provide children in foster care with “an education that prioritizes meeting the graduation requirements” to earn a diploma. Until now, the state had placed children in residential facilities that were required only to provide “appropriate educational services.” That vague description meant some students took substandard classes that didn’t count toward graduation.  Some were enrolled in classes they’d already taken. Some discovered that their transcripts were missing or incomplete. Others were pulled out midsemester to move to a new home without consideration for whether they’d be able to finish their coursework.  “We’re so excited,” said Saba …

Kate Garraway ‘can’t earn enough’ to cover debts racked up after cost of husband Derek Draper’s care exceeded her ITV salary | Ents & Arts News

Kate Garraway has revealed the monthly cost of her husband Derek Draper’s care cost more than her ITV salary, causing her to rack up huge debts. The Good Morning Britain presenter announced her husband had died at the beginning of January after several years of serious health complications due to COVID. The former political adviser was 56. Garraway previously said she spent £16,000 a month on her husband’s basic care needs and mobility therapy. Now, in a new documentary chronicling the final year of Draper’s life, the presenter admits the huge costs left her in debt. “Derek’s care costs more than my salary from ITV and that is before you pay for a mortgage, before you pay any household bills, before you pay for anything for the kids, so we are at a crunch point,” Garraway says during the programme.
