Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg’s House Destroyed in L.A. Fires

Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg said they lost what “was supposed to be our forever home” in the Los Angeles wildfires. The couple took to Instagram on Friday to share a video of the devastation left behind after flames tore through their neighborhood. In the footage, their home could be seen brought down to ash and rubble. “Was supposed to be our forever home, but nothing lasts forever,” they wrote in the joint post’s cation. “Thankfully our family is safe, however other LA fire victims aren’t as fortunate. Please donate to them if you can.” Greenberg, who is best known for his roles in How to Make It in America, Emperor of Ocean Park and Bride Wars, previously shared his appreciation on his Instagram Story Wednesday for his friends and loved ones checking in on his family. “It was all a dream,” he also wrote on a photo, which appeared to be the ruins of their home. “Thankfully the family is safe. Thank you to all of the firefighters risking their lives. Stay safe out …

How Israeli forces destroyed Gaza’s Jabaliya refugee camp – video analysis | Israel-Gaza war

Using video analysis and satellite imagery, the Guardian has chronicled the destruction of the Jabaliya refugee camp through three offensives since October 2023. Repeated airstrikes and ground operations by Israel, which claims it is used as a Hamas base, have razed the camp to the ground and driven out most of the civilians. Observers have said the systematic destruction of entire neighbourhoods in northern Gaza is part a policy known as the ‘generals’ plan’, aimed at driving out civilians by declaring certain areas closed military zones Source link

Shyne, now known as Moses Barrow, signed to Combs’s label Bad Boy Records in 1998. The following year, Combs and his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were with Barrow at a Manhattan nightclub called Club New York. Witnesses said there was a heated argument between Combs and another man, Matthew “Scar” Allen. A scuffle broke out, guns were drawn and three bystanders were injured. At the resulting trial, Barrow was convicted of assault and reckless endangerment while Combs was acquitted of all charges. Barrow spent nine years in maximum security prison. In a new interview with Channel 5 News in his home country of Belize, where he is now a politician and Leader of the Opposition, Barrow said of Combs: “When I …

Archaeologists Excavate Ancient City Destroyed by Romans

The Fregellae archaeological site in central Italy. Source: Dominik Maschek/LEIZA.   At the ancient site of Fregellae in central Italy, recent archaeological excavations uncovered the region’s oldest agricultural villa. Among other discoveries, the villa ruins provided new insights into the daily lives and military tactics of the ancient city’s residents—before its destruction by Roman forces.   The Latest Archaeological Discoveries at Fregellae The archaeological team at work. Source: Lukas Reimann/LEIZA.   Once a bustling city allied with Rome, Fregellae was destroyed by Roman forces in 125 BCE following a rebellion, the cause of which is unknown. An archaeological team from the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA) in Germany is leading the latest excavations at Fregellae. They are focusing on the remains of an ancient villa that housed agricultural production facilities and likely belonged to an elite Fregellae family.   The villa dates back to about 80 years before the city’s destruction, which makes it the oldest of its kind in the region. Archaeologists are also researching the ruins of a nearby Roman military camp, which was …

Cameron, not Farage, destroyed the Conservatives

Cameron, not Farage, destroyed the Conservatives

David Cameron is back from outer space to tell us Nigel Farage wants to destroy the Conservative Party, that he’s playing “dog-whistle” politics and, we can infer, the Tories ought to run a mile from him. Thus the battle lines of the next leadership contest are drawn. Early advantage goes to elites who will say the party wandered too far to the Right – a view endorsed by a billion deadly dull podcasts made by people who think the Today programme is insufficiently subjective. Let’s put this myth to bed so I never have to write this column again. The Tory party is not Right-wing. It won in 2019 when people thought it was Right-wing, that it would implement Brexit, cut immigration and lower taxes. It is losing now thanks to a record of higher taxes, soaring migration and a Brexit you might think had never happened (unless you try to smuggle a dog into Ulster). Moreover, the Tories are not losing to Reform but to Labour, which is pretending to be low-tax and low-immigration. …

Did the Prophet Jeremiah imply that the Ark of the Covenant had already been destroyed? – OpentheWord.org

A replica of the Jewish Ark of the Covenant at the Église Saint-Roch in Paris, FranceCredit: Mbzt, Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 3.0 In an interesting article for Charisma News, Michael Snyder discusses the mysterious disappearance of the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark of the Covenant is arguably one of the world’s most famous missing artifacts. I mean, it has had movies made about it. What we do know is that the Ark of the Covenant disappeared after Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians in 586 BC and has never reappeared. We know from the Biblical record that it was not on the list of objects that the Babylonian army took when it looted the temple (2 Kings 25:13-17). So what happened to the Ark of the Covenant? With the Ark being the most valuable object in the Jewish Temple, the most accepted theory is that Jewish priests hid it in the labyrinth of tunnels and caves located beneath the temple mount before Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians. With the senior priests slaughtered during the Babylonian invasion …

‘They’ve destroyed us because of some tweets’: why has Saudi Arabia targeted these three sisters? | Saudi Arabia

‘They’ve destroyed us because of some tweets’: why has Saudi Arabia targeted these three sisters? | Saudi Arabia

In September 2022, Fawzia al-Otaibi was a week into a trip to her home country of Saudi Arabia, staying with a friend near the Bahrain border, when her phone rang. As soon as she heard the male voice on the other end of the line, she realised that returning had been a terrible mistake. It was a police officer who, in 2019, had tracked her down and fined her for public indecency after she had posted a video on her Snapchat account, showing her dancing in jeans and a baseball cap at a concert in Riyadh. She and her two sisters, Maryam and Manahel, had become targets in a campaign of arrests, threats and intimidation by the Saudi authorities after they had used their popular social media channels to post about women’s rights. For her, the dancing clip wasn’t a political statement; it was just about sharing a happy moment with her followers. After the fine, Fawzia left Saudi Arabia for Dubai and hadn’t been back to her home country in three years. She thought …

A history of the Statue of Liberty getting destroyed or distorted in movie posters

A history of the Statue of Liberty getting destroyed or distorted in movie posters

The marketing campaign for “Civil War” began with one image. Shortly before the film’s trailer premiered, A24 debuted a single poster announcing the production’s imminent arrival. This teaser features none of the movie’s notable actors. It also doesn’t offer specific glimpses into the plot. Instead, the “Civil War” poster features two snipers poised at opposite ends of the Statue of Liberty’s torch. Sandbags dot the exterior of this torch. Everything on this poster exemplifies that this locale is now a go-to spot for soldiers rather than a tourist attraction. It’s a striking image suggesting that no parts of America are off-limits in this national conflict. Everything can become a battleground. Don’t you want to know what could lead to the chaos that resulted in the State of Liberty’s destruction? This inaugural piece of “Civil War” marketing continues a long-running promotional trend for movie posters in distorting the Statue of Liberty. Over the years, decimating this iconic American landmark has become a go-to design motif for ominous movies involving cataclysmic circumstances. In the fictional universe of …

7 Famous Artists Who Destroyed Their Own Works

In our minds, art is closely associated with the act of creation and the transformation of raw materials into something new. But can we reverse the process and call destruction an act of artistic expression? Read on to learn more about some of the famous artists like Camille Claudel, Jean Tinguely, and Banksy, all of whom destroyed their own artworks at some point in their careers.   1. Camille Claudel: The Famous Artist Whom We Almost Lost Camille Claudel at work, c. 1885-87. Source: Wikipedia   Despite the growing fame of the previously forgotten sculptor Camille Claudel, we have a very limited range of her works available in museums and private collections. Claudel, who was an outstanding woman sculptor at the time when women were barely allowed to create art, destroyed most of her work with her own hands during a mental breakdown. For years, she lived in an abusive and dramatic relationship with the famous Auguste Rodin but was treated neither as an equal partner nor as an equal artist. Her mental health …
