People Reveal What They Bought Themselves As Adults That They Were Denied As Kids

When we consider the struggles of childhood we usually think of big, difficult traumas, but it’s often the little things that we remember most.  On Reddit, people got into quite a conversation about this stuff, with users sharing how they’ve been able to make it up to their kid-selves as adults. 12 nostalgic people shared the things they’ve bought for themselves as adults that they were denied as kids: If you’re like a lot of people, you can still hear your mom saying, “No, we have ____ at home” or “Don’t ask me for anything!” every time you went into a store and just had to have that new toy or piece of candy. Every kid needs to be taught these lessons — and we’ve all witnessed what kids who’ve never been told “no” are like. But when that “no” also comes from a place of financial struggle, it can have a lasting impact. Studies have shown pretty conclusively that financial trauma is very real, and our childhood financial experiences shape us as adults. There …

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs denied bail by judge as he awaits sex trafficking trial | Ents & Arts News

The rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been denied bail again by a judge as he awaits trial on sex trafficking charges. It means the musician and producer, also known as P Diddy, will stay jailed, despite a $50m bid to be released. Combs was arrested on suspicion of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking in September. He has been imprisoned for the last 10 weeks. The hip-hop mogul has pleaded not guilty to charges that he coerced and abused women for years with the aid of a network of associates and employees, while silencing victims through blackmail and violence – including kidnapping, arson and physical beatings. He says his sexual relationships were consensual, and denies all wrongdoing. This was the 55-year-old’s fourth attempt at being released before his trial. His lawyers made two requests in the days after he was charged, followed by an appeal which was denied in October. US District Judge Arun Subramanian announced the latest bail rejection decision in a written order, after hearing arguments during a two-hour hearing on 22 November in …

Pharmacist who took his own life after COVID jab complications was denied compensation | UK News

The family of an NHS pharmacist who took his own life after suffering paralysing complications from a COVID jab are calling for urgent reform of the government’s compensation scheme for vaccine damage. John Cross was told by the official medical assessor for the scheme that the jab had caused his rare neurological effects, but that he wasn’t disabled enough for a payment. Mr Cross was unable to move, blink or breathe after his first dose of the vaccine. He spent seven months recovering in hospital but was left with chronic pain and numbness – and suffered several relapses. After he was rejected by the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme (VDPS), his mental health deteriorated and he took his own life. Image: John Cross’s children Speaking exclusively to Sky News, Philip Cross, John’s youngest son, said the family would seek to overturn the judgment and force reform of the VDPS. “We want some good out of this and to get the system changed in memory of dad. “You look at everything and it’s just wrong. It’s unjust.” …

Trump’s Mistrial Demand Denied After Stormy Daniels Graphically Details Alleged Stomach-Churning Sex With Him

Trump’s Mistrial Demand Denied After Stormy Daniels Graphically Details Alleged Stomach-Churning Sex With Him

Donald Trump demanded—and was denied—a mistrial on Tuesday, after adult film star Stormy Daniels testified about the alleged stomach-churning sex they had, which she says led to the 2016 hush money payment at the heart of the trial. Describing the hotel room encounter that she says—and Trump denies—took place in 2006, Daniels told the jury that after chatting* for a while, she used the bathroom and returned to Trump stripped down to his T-shirt and boxers, which startled her. “I wasn’t expecting someone to be there, especially minus a lot of clothing,” she said. “I felt that the room spun in slow motion. I felt the blood basically leave my hands and feet.… I just thought, Oh my God. What did I misread to get here? Because the intention was pretty clear. Somebody stripped down in their underwear and posed on the bed, waiting for you.” Daniels testified that Trump “stood up between me and the door, not in a threatening manner,” and when she told him, “I’ve got to go,” he responded, “I thought …

DHS Shuts Down Expert Group That Denied Hunter Biden Laptop Story

Authored by Naveen Athrappully via The Epoch Times, The Biden administration has agreed to shut down a national security experts’ group as part of settling a lawsuit accusing the group of being politically biased in favor of Democrats. On Sept. 19, 2023, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group to provide advice on intelligence and national security efforts. In November, America First Legal (AFL) and former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell sued the DHS, the group, and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, arguing that the experts group violated provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). Section 5 of FACA requires that an advisory committee be “fairly balanced in terms of the points of view.” It also mandates there be provisions to ensure that “the advice and recommendations of the advisory committee will not be inappropriately influenced by the appointing authority or by any special interest.” The lawsuit noted that “the Experts Group’s members are political allies of the Biden Administration. Most members have applauded the Administration’s …

Boss Cuts Worker’s Hours When He Refuses To Cancel Vacation Because His Pre-Approved Time Off Was Denied

Boss Cuts Worker’s Hours When He Refuses To Cancel Vacation Because His Pre-Approved Time Off Was Denied

An employee admitted that he was baffled after his boss both reprimanded him for and refused to let him use his PTO.  Posting to the subreddit “r/AmITheJerk” — an online public forum where individuals can share either personal anecdotes or conflicts that have happened to other people to see who was in the wrong — the 20-year-old man claimed that he and his boss, Susan, were involved in a bit of an argument after she told him that his PTO request was “last minute” after he’d already booked his vacation days. She told her employee that he wasn’t allowed to use his pre-approved time off. In his Reddit post, he explained that he’s been working in a store for the past two years and has never had any bad interactions or encounters with his boss until fairly recently.  It started back in January 2024 when he decided to save up so that he could take a few days of vacation with the PTO that he has. As he started to make his plans and arrangements, he made …

Gaza war surgeon feels ‘criminalised’ after being denied entry to France | France

A London surgeon who provided testimony on Israel’s war in Gaza after operating during the conflict has said he feels criminalised after being denied entry to France over the weekend. Prof Ghassan Abu-Sitta, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon was due to speak about the war to the French parliament’s upper house on Saturday. However, after arriving at Charles de Gaulle airport north of Paris on a morning flight from London, he was informed by French authorities that Germany had enforced a Schengen-wide ban on his entry to Europe. Abu-Sitta said he had no knowledge that German authorities, who had previously refused his entry to Berlin in April, had put an administrative visa ban on him for a year, meaning he was banned from entering any Schengen country. “What I find most difficult to accept is this complete criminalisation,” Abu-Sitta said on Sunday, adding that he was previously told by authorities he would be unable to enter Germany for the month of April. “I was put in a holding cell and marched in front of people …

George Santos revives previously denied drag persona for cash-grabbing Cameo videos

Disgraced former Congressman George Santos is back with a new cash grab: online drag. The shelved drag persona, Kitara Ravache — with which Santos once denied any connection — joined the ranks this week on video platform Cameo, where users can commission messages from public figures. Videos starring Ravache run prospective buyers $275 for an averaging-53-seconds-long greeting. “Hey, you messy bit**es,” Santos says in one video. “Kitara is coming out of the closet after 18 years, thanks to all of you.” In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Santos makes a promise to share 20% of proceeds with pro-veteran and Zionist charities Tunnel to Towers and the International Fellowship for Christians and Jews. Though his dubious history with charities, including an incident where he allegedly stole $3,000 from a fund for a disabled veteran’s dog, may inspire doubt. In addresses to paying clients, Santos dons the signature red lipstick and feather boa that previously caused so much controversy, offering advice to some, including to partying friends of “Dave.” “I hear you’re a bunch of little freaks out there, and you …

Supreme Court skeptical of siding with man denied visa over tattoos

Supreme Court skeptical of siding with man denied visa over tattoos

WASHINGTON —  For the record: 1:22 p.m. April 23, 2024In a previous version of this article, Luis Asencio Cordero’s surname was misspelled as Acensio Cordero. Supreme Court justices sounded skeptical Tuesday about siding with a Los Angeles woman who claimed her constitutional rights were violated when the government denied a visa to her Salvadoran husband, in part over his tattoos. While some justices said they agreed that denial of a visa to a U.S. citizen’s spouse could in theory infringe on the citizen’s constitutionally protected interests, a majority suggested the government had fulfilled its legal responsibilities in this case. Former resident Luis Asencio Cordero, who is from El Salvador, has been separated from his wife, L.A. civil rights attorney Sandra Muñoz, since 2015. The couple sued, arguing the federal government had violated her rights to marriage and due process by failing to provide a timely explanation for denying his visa. Initially, the government said it denied the visa due to concerns that Asencio Cordero would be likely to engage in unlawful activity if he were allowed …
